The media could not be loaded. If you are putting together yourself be prepared to block a full day! It does say recommended installation but my husband and I are pretty experienced with furniture assembly. It took about 6 hours to put the whole thing together and another hour unscrewing from the wall because it ended up not setting evenly on wall. We finally got it where we wanted and anchored to the wall, and the very last step in the instructions is to put the trim piece under the feux doors. Well that was impossible because of how low it was into carpet there's absolutely no way to slide it in. 😐 I had a feeling we should have put it on before standing it up but I didn't listen to my gut instinct. We plan on cutting the bottom piece later to slide it on. It is VERY heavy so only attempt if you're able to lift a lot of weight! The bed is fairly easy to open and shut for my 15 yr old son who it was purchased for. It would not be for a small child to open it. It lowers doesn't so I wouldn't worry about it falling on them if they could open it. I think the shelf in the inside was supposed to be where you put the pillows when closing up the bed but as shown in the video, they don't stay. Unless you have very flat pillows maybe. Overall very pleased with the result and would recommend if you're trying to save space. I hope it lasts quite a while although I don't have too high expectations because it's not exactly the highest quality material BUT it was the cheapest I found on Amazon. One thing I wish it had was USB ports or at least pre made holes or something to put phone charger and alarm clock on the shelf but we'll figure something else out. ... show more

We were very excited to get this bed to have a place for family to sleep during the holidays in our new home. We got around to building the bed maybe 2 weeks after delivery since we just moved in. The boxes the item came in had remained untouched and in the same spot the shippers left them inside my home. When we laid the first box down we saw the ripped center of the box and cut it open to get a better look and it was scraped up pretty badly. We are keeping the bed simply because we have family coming in a couple days and had depended on having this bed to use, however I am really just disappointed that I spent more than $1,000 on a bed that arrived in damaged condition. With that said, the assembly was quite easy thanks to the numbered hardware kit and clear instruction manual. It was very time consuming, though. We spent abltit 5 hours total including a dinner break and several shorter breaks. The last step to attach the strip at the bottom was the most difficult and was impossible to attach because the bedroom we installed it in is carpeted. We'll likely disassemble from the wall and lay it down to attach before standing it upright and reattached to the wall. It looks great and I was impressed with most of the assembly process but I'll have to figure out a creative way to hide the damage on side and the chip on th front cabinet. ... show more

So the delivery dropped off two large boxes. When we opened them we realized that the metal frame’s missing and the layer of planks supporting the mattress. Called up product support and they said they could not trace the 3rd box so they will have to send the refunds. So now I am stuck here with a bunch of heavy woodframes that I have no way of salvaging since this product has specific metal frame. Add to that, I already paid two person to assemble it but ended up with them helping us throw away the wood parts. I have to wait for another murphy bed from another brand to arrive which usually takes forever to arrive. I have to pay again another professional’s fee for the assembly of the new one. Why can’t companies be a little smarter and just label boxes like 1/3, 2/3, 3/3? That way the delivery staff will expect that there will be 3 boxes for the full set. These are huge heavy boxes too. What a waste. A simple labeling would have prevented such hassle. In the Amazonproduct description it didn’t mentioned that it will come in 3 boxes too so the buyer will have no idea until such unboxing time. I feel betrayed. What a waste of my time. And refunds doesn’t do justice. Enough of my ranting. Just a heads up to potential buyers. If it happened to me… ... show more

Super happy with this purchase, even the delivery went smoothly. It came in three boxes and took me (9months pregnant) and my mom six hours from start to finish. Delivery was fine and Delivery person was on point. After that it went down hill fast. This bed is not easy to assemble and it's heavey. Been 3 days and still can't put it together like the book says. I'm throwing it away. Waste of my time and money. Customer service takes a hours break, but I couldn't get noone to relpy and its been 3 days. Very unhappy. Save yourself the trouble and look else where. Update: My package was picked up and returned on Dec. 1. Today is Dec. 14 and I have not received my refund or a simple contact/acknowledgement and there’s no phone number or email to contact seller. Does this purchase need to be reported to fraud department? ———- Original Post: I hate it. Horrible to assemble. When I called to hire someone to assemble, I was told there are no professional assemblers available in my area of Los Angeles. 3 people later that I’ve tried to help me and unit is still not fully up. I hate to leave negative reviews, but I received the unit with what looked to be assembled then disassembled pieces. I took all of the pieces out of the boxes and some were new but a lot were used. I was really looking forward to redoing my very small office space since it doubles as a spare room.
