When I was looking to buy a hot dog steamer, I looked at several of them, read reviews, and looked at price. I decided on this one and have been very happy with the purchase. I purchased this to make hot dogs for the kids at my daughter's birthday party. We went through 80 hot dogs that day. They cooked up super fast (even though they were frozen when I put them in the steamer!), and the buns did not get soggy as I saw in a lot of comments on other steamers. The buns came out nice and soft. You can even put buns in that are not quite as fresh as you would prefer and they get nice and soft and steamy, you would never know they were not fresh baked! The kids loved the hot dogs. It was a great addition to the pool party. Even the adults loved the hot dogs steamed. We have since used it at home just for the family. The hot dogs taste way better steamed than put in a pot of boiling water. I don't think we can ever have another party without using the hot dog steamer. The kids might riot! They really enjoyed them that much. I always had a ready supply wrapped in aluminum foil so that they could just grab one whenever they wanted a hot dog. Swimming makes a kid hungry, so they enjoyed being able to grab a nice steamed hot dog whenever they wanted.

This cool looking hot dog steamer works as advertised. Have even used it to steam tamales. Nice to know I can have perfectly steamed hot dogs and buns in about 10 minutes. Works great every time. My only complaint is that I wish it was dishwasher safe. The unit comes in four pieces, the base unit that heats up the water and induces steam, a drawer to hold the hot dogs as they cook, the upper steam chamber that produces perfectly steamed buns and a lid that covers the upper steam chamber. All parts are made of plastic that is stamped with the international symbol for being food safe. The owner’s guide warns that the parts are not dishwasher safe, although that is difficult to understand as they are exposed to very high temperatures during the steaming process. The only part that should never be submersed in water is the base of the unit that houses the warming grid and plugs into a standard 120 volt outlet. I’m of the opinion that the manufacturer is concerned some consumers may attempt to wash the electric base unit in a dishwasher and advise not using one at all for safety reasons. Using a dishwasher to clean the base unit would be akin to tossing your electric toaster in the dishwasher. The other three pieces are hand washable. Due to the very nature of the product, being essentially a steamer, the high heat produced easily eradicates any germs that may be present. Usually a wash down with hot water and a dish soap wand is sufficient to keep things looking good. Hand drying the parts can be cumbersome as they all have holes that allow water to drip all over. If the unit was dishwasher safe it would get an easy five stars from me. It does a great job at what it’s made for. And please, no ketchup!

This is my review of Nostalgia hds248coke Coca-Cola Hot Dog Steamer today I have tested my acquisition, I am really happy with it, starting with the packaging, a very striking box and collector's personalization, the machine comes well protected and ordered, disarmed and then tested, this time prepare 16 sausages which size is small and fit perfectly with the perception that they can fit more than 24, which indicates the instructional, the bread is of regular size but they did not fit 12 but 8 so I have no problem, once the water container is filled I included a little spice in it and I perfectly flavored the sausage, then I armed my machine and put it in the strongest temperature and Nostalgia promises in 20 minutes they were ready and the bread very fluffy, all with a lot of steam, then I put the sleep mode and kept me warm for quite a while all the products without damaging their quality. I highly recommend this device, it works excellent and I already understand your demand to buy it, for its price it is worth it and has a presence that makes you want only to collect it and not to use it. I am a satisfied customer. I hope you serve my review, I leave photos of what I describe in it.

We've owned this now for a year and a half where I live (Elderly high rise) as the President of the Resident Council we wanted to raise a little cash, without it being costly to those who live here. The residents LOVE it and we make money for trips etc that they enjoy!! It's easy to clean (if the bottom silver parts gets a little nasty (Just keep adding water and it does NOT) just plug it in with enough water and TA DA it comes clean. GREAT TASTING DOGS!! Love the steamed buns. We do as was suggested and we put a few white napkins in the steamer and we do not add the buns until 2 mins before the dogs are done. Frozen Dogs, take 20 mins, unfrozen about 12 (red or brown dogs, it's Maine, they LOVE the red snappers). GREAT DEAL and they love how cute it is!! We love how easy it is to transport. It is all plastic, but it's cute so that's OK and great price too!
