This product lasts about 2.5 yrs with seasonal use. This is the 3rd time we’ve gotten this product. All of them will get a residual gunk over the heating element after each use and you need to be sure to clean under the silicone or it will start to get mold under the seal. Buying some dish detail cleaners is all you need to clean it. It is loud but it does the job and doesn’t bust the bank. To make our hot chocolate we put in milk and add whatever chocolate we have on hand. Usually it’s just a handful of chocolate chips, but during Christmas or other holidays just throw all that crap chocolate you get in and turn it on. It’s delicious! Best way to use it!

I love this hot chocolate maker. It was so easy to use and such good quality. It looks so authentic. Simply pour in milk and add chocolate, push the button and it warms the milk and froth it at the same time my grandchildren loved it for the holidays I bought hot chocolate cups with their names on it and it was a big hit for my party. It’s super quick and makes hot chocolate, frosty and delicious all at the same time. This was really fun to have.

Debating whether to put 3 or 4 -- I would put a 5 for the quality of the drink. This makes incredible hot chocolate SO easily. I also bought Blue Bottle Craft Instant Espresso and paired it with milk in this frother and batched hot lattes for a party. Incredible! The reason I had to mark it down is that it's SO loud. You need to run it while you're serving so that the drinks stay frothed and warm, but ideally you'd want to be able to make the drinks, turn it off and just dispense it during a party because of how loud it is. If that doesn't bother you, it's a really amazing way to have hot chocolate or hot instant lattes for a group at home. I kids sleepover? It's perfect! It's just not ideal for a party atmosphere unless you're blasting music to drown it out. It's also definitely plastic at the top. The retro vibe is cute, but it has the quality of a kids toy in the make and feel. But, again, the drinks ARE GOOD. So it's a balance of what you're looking for. There aren't a lot of frothers out there that let you mix in powders during the frothing process to warm and combine into yummy, fluffy, delicious drinks.

Okay, here's the thing. I am an adult who doesn't like to drink coffee. Hot chocolate has always been my go-to cold weather drink especially coming in from walking the dogs on a frigid morning. I tried heating up the milk on the stovetop--scalded milk was the usual result. Heating a cup up in the microwave resulted in a bubbled over mess to clean up. But no more! This is a great little machine! It heats up the milk and cocoa mix while stirring and frothing and have patience...you'll soon enjoy a mug and/or thermos of delicious hot chocolate. Patience is needed because it takes about 6 minutes to heat up to hot enough to drink--but not burn the inside of your mouth. It blends and froths the cocoa and milk perfectly. Cleaning the unit is fairly easy, basically I just rinse it out with hot water. You cannot insert it in a dishwasher! It is rather small in size and lightweight, so it tucks away easily in a cupboard during the warm weather months. Plus, it just looks cool! I'm very happy with my purchase.

My business team and I enjoy this hot chocolate maker that also doubles as a coffee machine, and it's been a great addition to our coffee-tasting events. It's a great attraction and in the same color -- RED -- that fits nicely with our brand. This machine has also become a point of interest at our booth, attracting more visitors keen to try the beverages it produces. It's nice to offer something that not only tastes good but also adds an element of fun to the experience. The spout dispenser is also very convenient, enabling us to serve samples to our guests efficiently, with everyone enjoying their drinks within just 6-8 minutes. We do wish, however, that the jug could hold more than 32oz, as we often find ourselves running out quickly due to its popularity. The machine excels in both making hot chocolate and brewing coffee, which is particularly appreciated at our events. We add milk or half-n-half to the batch which adds to the creaminess and enhances the flavor, and we appreciate the froth stirrer keeps the contents mixing and off the warming plate so it doesn't burn our mocha latte beverage. We get so many compliments of the smooth and creamy texture to our healthy mocha latte drinks. We've found it to be a valuable addition, especially for gatherings and events, and it’s nice to have for making warm, tasty drinks at home or when exhibiting.

I had one of these 20 years ago. Back then, the top didn't come off and they were super hard to clean. I bought this one because we lost the old one in a move long ago. It was GREAT the first two times I used it. But on the third time, after about 8 or 9 minutes, I started smelling "burning plastic." I was in the other room (about 8 feet away with an open door) and ran out to unplug it. I couldn't figure out what was burning. I thought at first it hadn't mixed the chocolate well and some had ended up on the heating plate. I was wrong. I emptied the hot chocolate (which was way hotter than usual), then added cold water to the pitcher so I could cool down the hot plate. While doing that, I happened to notice the frother blade was loose. When I wiggled it a bit, the hardware holding it in on the underside fell off into the sink. I realized then that the plastic around that had melted and burned. I loved it while it lasted. They tell you not to keep it on more than 15 minutes, and I would advise far less. The first two times I used it, it took about 12 minutes to heat my hot chocolate to a comfortable, drinkable level. But the third, after 8 minutes, it was way too hot and the underside melted. I'm sure this is an infrequent thing, as the reviews are still great. But take this review as a cautionary tale to be careful with it. Even if you're following the directions to the letter...things can go wrong.

Admittedly, I got this bc it's cute and would look good for my hot cocoa bar. But, no, it actually functions like a real appliance. Put in your milk or water, your cocoa, and turn the switch on to Heat/Froth and bam...in a few minutes you have a cup of hot cocoa. At first my husband saw the cocoa powder floating on top and he said it wasn't going to mix well, but it really blends like a champ. Get it, it's easy and cleanup isn't bad at all.

After a month of using, I feel I can give a better review. It is easy enough to use: add milk, add chocolate, turn it on. For a family, the 4 cups of milk is nice since kids have a hard time waiting for anything. The spigot is nice, if only it didn't drip incessantly the moment you add the milk--be sure to have something there to catch the drips. The only two options to turn it on is "froth" and "heat froth". This is great if you want 3 inches of foam on top of your drink. You get these 3 inches because it takes so long to heat up. Be careful if you like "hot" chocolate, you may get chocolate butter. Further, if you use the spigot, you don't get any of that foam, it stays behind to give you a headache while cleaning. It is really loud. It sounds like the used the smallest motor they could find that would spin, but when adding any liquid becomes very overworked. I'm okay giving it some stars because it does mix and warm chocolate--it sure beats warming and ladleing on the stove. It isn't fun to clean since the heating element is part of the pitcher. We do use it weekly and enjoy it but there are so many issues that could be improved.
