Not only does it look wonderful and really adds the pop to my kitchen, I loved using this for a recent cookout party. Everyone complimented it and some people took pictures of it! I used it to steam veggie dogs and buns. I added the buns later because I read in some reviews they can get soggy. Everything came out perfect! If you have a family and hotdog night, a date night, or party, this thing is great! Some people also complained in reviews that it's made of plastic. Personally, I like that it is lightweight as the cord tucks underneath nearly and I wouldn't want some massive heavy thing sitting on my counter. I bought this to do a hot dog bar at work and it works so good. I didn't use the top for a bun warmer put the cooked hotdogs up there because I couodnt cook them fast enough. I really enjoy my hot dog steamer. The hot dogs came out perfectly cooked along with perfectly steamed buns. The hot dogs were reminiscent of the time I was in New York and had hot dogs from a hot dog cart. Some of the best hot dogs I ever had. My entire family all had wow moments as we bit in. On the negative side the unit seems flimsy, its plastic. Its easy to use but because of the steam it gets hot so keep little ones away. A true review of a product comes when you compare it to alternative ways to cook a hot dog. Most of us probably had hot dogs cooked in a microwave. Just stop doing that. Those hot dogs end up having all flavor zapped out of them. Boiling a hot dog in water ends up with water logged hot dogs that are tasteless. A method we all have used at one time or another the BBQ grill. Hot dogs cooked over charcoals or even wood chips come out crispy in areas and look like other areas were spared the flames. These tasty hot dogs rate in 3rd place or tied for because gas also cooks in a similar fashion with a slight difference in taste. Hots on a griddle is another popular way to make hot dogs. This is usually found in diners or now thanks to lower prices in many homes. Hot dogs can sometimes taste a little greasy. The only method I've found that came close to the hot dog steamer was the hot dog roller. Like the steamer its very affordable. Hot dogs cook up plump, evenly cooked, extremely tasty. My family was divided on which they liked best, the steamed or the rollers. I was the deciding vote. The steamer won out. The hot dog roller was much more difficult to clean. The steamer cleaned up fast. It was more compact compared to the roller. The steamer cooked up more hot dogs then the roller did and the roller couldn't handle the buns. I really like this unit and give it top marks for taste, ease of cleaning, ease of use (its very intuitive), and its not a space hog. This one is a little bit different than the name brand one that I have used for a few years. But it definitely Cooks my bratwursts faster, and are just as evenly drowned. The drip tray has a notch so that you can get it perfectly lined up, and it's pretty easy to clean. The only thing that would make it easier is removable plates, and having a thermostat to let you know when they are cooked would be a nice convenience too, but those features would probably raise the price a lot more than what I paid. Overall I'm pretty happy, and these are definitely easier to clean than the old hamburger grilling machines used to be. I would probably to buy this one again without much thought. ... show more

Like: The taste is better than steamed. It is easy just to put the franks on the rollers and buns in the oven. I have only tried pre-cooked hot dogs though. Just put in an forget. Easy quick meal for the kids. Dislikes: Can be a bit longer because it would be tough to fit 8 hot dogs on this thing. Overall, it is quite easy to use and relatively easy to clean with my first go at it. I am not sure about the durability so I gave it a neutral rating. Only time will tell. I have only tried pre-cooked hot dogs so far. I will test the frozen ones but in theory, this should work because I can just set the timer longer. ... show more
