I have been using this for 2 years to dispose of used oil at my local auto retailer (oreillys) and today they refused to take it. They said they were never supposed to take oil from an unmarked container per epa rules because they don’t know where it came from. I said so if I put it in an empty Mobil or penzoil jug you still don’t know where it came from but he still wouldn’t budge. Would be nice if the manufacturer made this exact jug out labeled it “used motor oil” on the side. ... show more

I have 8 of these filled with water for emergencies. They are stored stacked 2 high on their sides with no leaking. What I like best is the ventilation hole is not drilled. This is normally where other containers fail. Predrilled holes with non gasketed caps. This containers large opening allows me to place a pump inside to distribute water. This 5 Gallon Jug was extremely well built. Overall it’s melded nicely and doesn’t have any leaks. Does what it’s supposed to do. The only drawback I had was that when I first got it, the vent hole was not pre-drilled so I had to manually make that myself. Not everyone would want to do this to avoid getting plastic particulates in their jug, but alas for me this wasn’t the end of the world. Definitely something to be aware of though. This is a pretty heavy duty polyethylene container. I am using it to collect used motor oil and take it to recycling. It is very convenient for that and is holding up well. The handle and the screw top are much easier to use than a bucket. One thing to note - there is no vent hole under the small cap. You have the option of poking the hole if you need it. ... show more

I love products that actually work and are made in the USA! This water jug is heavy duty, and extremely functional for my needs. I use it for draining water from my dehumidifier located in my house, as my house sits on a concrete slab which absorbs humidity through the floor necessitating an in-house dehumidifier. I was emptying buckets from the dehumidifier every 6-8 hours in the summer months. My solution was to use the drain cock on the dehumifier with an attached short length of garden hose which empties into this 5 gallon container. The holes in the cap and vent must be drilled out, but they are clearly indented and recessed for that purpose. Simple to do with a larger drill bit or reamer. I can let the container fill for days and then remove the hose and empty it. The container is very strong and heavy duty - I love it! If using for this or a like purpose, don't forget to remove the vent cap and drill a small hole in the center of the vent. I used a 1/8" drill bit. That's what i use this container for, but I'm sure there are many other uses which one can come up with. ... show more
