The packaging was very shoddy and there was absolutely nothing protecting the bottom portion of the water heater. You can see by all of the dents in the cover in the pictures.

This brand was recommended by a plumber friend. So far so good. My previous house had a professionally installed Takagi Jr installed. The features are similar the only down side (to us) is the temperature doesn't go as low as the other one did. With the controller (also an add-on for the Takagi) the minimum is 115 with this and 99 with the Takagi Jr. We often operated ours at 104-108 (depending on time of year) which matched perfectly with our showers saving gas and slowing the buildup of deposits on the heat exchanger. I coupled this with a scale inhibitor cartridge. The price difference between this and the others isn't significant but it was recommended by a plumber for the ease in getting parts if needed (available at the local supply house.) ... show more
