I ordered this pan because it seemed like a fun way to create some Halloween-themed treats. The pan arrives packaged solely with a cardboard band around it, but no scratches were seen on the one sent to me. On the inside of the cardboard band are instructions for proper care of the pan and a recipe for some chocolate spicy cakelets. The instructions say to handwash only. The pan is advertised as nonstick, but the instructions clearly specify to coat it with shortening, oil, or butter along with a dusting of flour prior to baking to prevent sticking. I used the included recipe to make some skull cakelets. It is very difficult to coat the interior with shortening and get it into all of the tiny cracks and crevices of the skull shape. Next time I will definitely use a brush and paint the inside with either melted butter or some oil. After baking, though, the cakelets popped right out and had very well-defined skull features on them. I was so happy with how they came out that I bought a second pan so I could make 12 skulls at a time in the future. Clean up is a challenge as it’s difficult to get small crevices of the mold clean. It’s made more difficult by having to hand wash the pan. It’s expensive, but I highly recommend this Nordic Ware skull pan. It has heavy duty construction, so with proper care I expect it to last for very many years. You can probably find cheaper, similar pans, but I doubt they will have the quality of construction and skull sculpture that this pan has. I try to write informative product reviews. I wanted to make pizza skulls, and they came out very nice as shown in the images. This pan was a little more expensive than the others, but I can already tell the quality overall is better. I've had this pan for less than a week & I've already made pizza bombs & multiple batches of pumpkin bread in this. Nordic wear always has heavy duty, quality products. The skull pan is so cool, it's a classy kind of spooky. Not too cartoony or childish. I haven't had any trouble removing my bakes from the pan, I just spray a little baker's joy. I want to make everything in this pan. I'm going to look and see if they have shapes for any other seasons. It makes a big impression on people and takes no extra effort. I'm a big fan for sure. It's Nordic Ware so I knew it would be good quality and I was not wrong. I used it to make cornbread skulls for my chili bar I did for game night. It was during October so I went with the spooky theme. Since then I have used it for brownie skulls, cake skulls, cookie skulls, I even made hollow chocolate skulls since valentines is coming up and I am putting gummy worms in them and sealing them shut. This is truly an all purpose pan that I have used for just about everything. I even used them to make skull ice cubes for a party tray that I needed to keep cold.
