I'm using it for a heat pump system with an Emergency Heat option. Our previous thermostat had a dim screen and touchscreen controls. It was all too easy to switch to Emergency Heat by accident and not know it 'til the next electric bill arrived. The manual switches and bright clear screen on this unit are much better.
