I have tried to use the $100 special units that are all over Amazon for a while now. They work fine on a clean field, but when things or wet, or in wet sand, or in trashy areas, there are just too many false positives to be useful. But this Nokta solves most of those problems. Even on wet, black sand at the beach, it is silent, but will still catch a washer 10” deep. Having multiple frequencies running at the same time is a huge step up from single frequency detectors, and even though this is a bit more, it is still an excellent value compared to others on the market with similar features (at triple the price!). I was essentially choosing a seller blind, but I also want to mention that Gulf Coast Detector was fantastic to work with. I had an issue with the clamps not holding the shaft as secure as it should, and they worked with Nokta on my behalf and got replacements sent to me very quickly. Much appreciated! ... show more

Everything works extremely well and I’m impressed by the quality. There’s a slight learning curve but I will tell you that this detector can find small objects even if buried deep! I found a 1902 Indian head penny on my first trip to the beach!

I purchased a simplex + some years ago and it has been stellar, but not so much in wet beach sand. This detector seems very well made and well thought out. The carbon fiber shafts have zero flex unlike the aluminum ones on my simplex and it feels lighter than the simplex. I was able to easily pair it with some Monoprce APTX LL headphones. Nokta is hungry to make their mark in the detector market and their product quality shows. $425 for an SMF Waterproof metal detector is all the proof I need to make that statement! ... show more

The Double Score has great reviews and I am a serious detectorist. The only down fall is it's weight is heavy and unbalanced, not a good detector for long days out detecting. The other bad part is it has no tone control. Absolutely must read owners manual and a few YouTube videos on operating it. Hopefully Nokta will follow up with an update for tones, and make available a lighter coil. I would highly recommend buying the Nokta Legend, the extra spending is well worth it. Go for the Nokta Legend and skip on the double score! ... show more
