This has been the perfect dog gate for my mini dachshund. Since the gate is kind of heavy and she’s small I haven’t attached it to the wall, I just set it up in a large “U” shape to close off the entry way to the room I want. I have two entry ways into two different areas of my home. The entry into the kitchen is a few inches longer so it’s perfect to move from one area to another. Love this! I am very pleased with this. It came fully assembled. The only thing you need to do is tighten. The screws at each post comes in one box so I just kind of pulled it out and opened it up. The door latch is perfect. you can open it from the outside or the inside and it swings both ways which I also love you can also make the square or round. It’s perfect for my Labrador that’s having surgery.

We needed to confine our German Shepherd who just had TPLO surgery on her left knee to a small area. She’s not supposed to have any access to a large area where she could run or play with our Border Terrier. We still had her original crate, yet it was too small for her so until we purchased a bigger one we used the 8 panel fence as her area. Her setup is in our living room so we could watch her the 2 weeks that she’d need to wear her cone. She still needed to be contained for 8 weeks total. Of course, when we were with her she never had her cone on. Only if both of us needed to leave the house was she coned and crated. She was never left alone with the fencing only. The latch on the door was extremely light and could be easily moved. Since she knew how to open the latch on her original crate, we placed a padlock on it to increase the weight of the latch, making it harder to open. If she showed any interest in unhooking the latch on the fencing panels, I could have easily added a padlock to the center of the latch thus making it heavier. All she needed to do was to use her nose between the bars to flip up the latch to open the door and escape. Since her left back leg hurt and she was on pain meds and trazodone, she didn’t have the will, strength or energy to do so. The pictures show how we set up the fencing by itself, using zip ties to complete the square area, then the crate and fencing and using zip ties to connect the fencing to the crate, which made it seem stronger, then our German Shepherd in “ her yard.” It’s working now for what we need, yet I’m not sure it would contain her if she was completely recovered. Since she also has hip dysplasia, she’ll need 2 more surgeries as both hips need to be replaced. The black color looks good in the living room. I agree with another reviewer that the horizontal top bar isn’t flush with the vertical end bars on each panel which is a huge problem for some dogs who may jump up and get their collar caught! I know, as a dog trainer myself, that any dog crated or confined should have their collars removed before being placed in a confined space. Yet I didn’t know that before I was a dog trainer as I’m sure most owners don’t know about it either. Yet how many people would think of doing it anyway. Of course a crate, at least the one we purchased, had no areas where her cone or collar could be caught to injure herself. Our girl has no inclination to jump either so her collar stays on. All in all, it’s serving its purpose as a temporary fix for a dog recovering from surgery and we may be able to use it on the front porch across the 8 foot opening that already has a 2 ft dog gate across it. Since this is only 32” tall ( their newer model is 36”) and placing it on top of the 24” gate with zip ties, would make it 56” tall and she can enjoy the front porch with us! EDIT: Today, August 9th, she was able to open the latch on the fencing gate! She put her nose next to the slat that had the latch on it and pushed up and it flipped over to the other side and she was able to open the door with her body and walked out. Thank goodness I had the camera on her and I was watching at the time so my husband went and locked it up and sat with her for a few minutes. I knew she could do it as soon as she was well enough to feel like she wanted it out. German Shepherd, and Border are the smartest dogs. I had Border Collie in the past and he was able to open up the Midwest crate by using his paw to push the open the latch and slide it. Since then I put a heavy padlock on it so he couldn’t push it up again. Midwest has since taken the issue by placing an extra wire by the latch yet there’s always one dog who probably could figure it out….

The gate arrived on time & looks & acts as described. We needed a long gate w/ a door to section off our kitchen from the living room. The gate can be folded back on itself which is helpful if you need to make it shorter. I would've gone w/ the white, but my husband wanted the wood color (which was I think too expensive) but the wood color blends in more w/ our wood floor, but I think white would've looked just as good as we have large white trim on the walls. It would've popped. That said, I'm happy w/ the wood color as well. We can't use for our stairwells as there's not enough room for the design (we were going to order more once we received the large one, if it appeared they would work for the stairs). We had to get gates that attach to the walls on each side of the stairs, so went w/ solid wooden ones vs the metal. Overall pleased with this gate & like that if we don't need it or temporarily want it out of the way, it folds very nicely onto itself to move/store.

This is the third gate we have bought to keep our four dogs in the family/dining/kitchen area and it is a winner! Sturdy black metal. Added the braces to the bottom making it entirely stable on the floor. Minimal effort expended to put it together. Honestly no effort on my part as my husband put it together, but definitely didn't take any time. Excellent price. It came securely packaged and has definitely positively impacted the corralling of our dogs. Win Win!

These gates are perfect for containing my small dog. It can be free standing or mounted to the deck surface. The sizes available were perfect for my application on a porch at a rental property where mounting is not allowed. Plus they are very nice quality and look wonderful. Neighbors who enter the building for access have complimented the appearance. The 30" is exactly the height of the home porch height. It is lightweight but very sturdy and feels of good quality. The black color matches everything.
