I find there to be no issue with this gate. It comes as stated, instructions could be clearer but we figured it out no issue. There is a clear tag on the zip tie you cut last . (Which is important!) if we used it in our doorway we couldn’t shut the door bc the doorknob would hit the gate. So we moved inward into the smaller hallway and it worked great. We read comments previous to purchase and benefited from some of the advice for set up. We have moldings at the bottom of the walls so the tops were not long enough to stabilize. We placed a small block of wood & a small swatch of fabric to protect the walls from that. Works great. Cat door is snug to open and close. You have to hold the lock up on it which is a little annoying but still does the job! The build and overall function is sturdy and I’m happy with my purchase! I do find it’s safe for cats; if you have large dogs you would definitely want to screw it into the wall, not use the pressure option. Other than that I would recommend it.

Used mine for dogs only! Best thing i ever bought. Little dogs cruz thru to go outside and big dogs are separated when needed. Nobody can jump over it. 10 lb brussels griffons and standard dachshund fit thru tiny door just fine but nothing bigger would fit so check height. 120 lb dog is detained feom counter surfing when not supervised. Super easy to open and close whole door when walking thru. Only watch out is tiny door slide is a little flimsy and have to be careful opening and closing that to ensure you don't break it. I have been closing and locking it daily for months and its held up but if you got mad and rough it would likely break. Locks closed or open reliably. Great product. Love it. Arthritic hands can easily open and close main walk thru door.

This is a GREAT product for the price! I love this gate. Some people are complaining about the lock being cheap and breaking. Well, yeah kinda. It's plastic. If you are rough with it, it can break. What I found is that it's breaks becasue a small pin drops out in the lock handle assy. It's an easy fix! Just remove screws and put the pin back in. If it breaks again on me, I'll put in a longer pin. 50 Cent fix! Be sure to be carefull when opening and don't loose the pin that is rolling around in there. Also, take careful note how it works.

The gate is great. Heavy duty and able to withstand two 75lb dogs constantly jumping on it. It only needs to be adjusted periodically to make sure it's not coming loose and that the door latches properly. Minus stars because the door hinge portion is made out of cheap plastic and is a huge failure point in two big ways. First, the constant swinging of the door will eventually wear down the notch that makes the door stay in the open position. This causes to door to stay in a halfway open/close position and creates a hazard that someone can walk into. The second is that the spring hinge that allows the door to move upwards to unlatch is held into a plastic part by just pressure, hopes, and dreams. Eventually it comes loose and the whole hinge comes off with the slightest upward pressure, making the whole door come off. The door is not light as it's made of solid metal, so it can seriously hurt someone or a pet. The whole hinge seems to be proprietary one-piece construction and not replaceable, so once that goes the whole gate is useless. I reached out to seller and will update this review if they remedy the situation. Other than that, it's easy to set up, open and close, and the width between bars makes it pet-friendly to most medium+ animals. It's also super tall so your jumpers will have to really try to get over this. Update 5/25: after I reached out to the seller, they remedied the situation by replacing the gate at no charge. There is no way to replace just the hinge.

If buying for cat- you might need some extra height. My new 8mo kitten jumped this fence. It is made well, relatively easy to put together. Sturdy. I like the height and it would definitely keep children out. The bars are small my cats cant get thru but they can look into the door. It is possible to overtighten the tension—once the ziptie becomes loose then stop tightening. It is relatively quiet opening and closing the door.

I’ve had this for a little more than 6 months. The gate looks nice, it didn’t feel cheap or shoddy, and it worked well. There are options for wider doorways or passages included. Unfortunately, like other reviews, the latch broke after 6 months. Squeezing the handle does nothing at the top, the bottom portion still releases for now. At this price, I can’t give it higher than 3 stars because it broke after such a short time with regular use.

I got this to keep my autistic daughter out of the kitchen, she tends to steal food/over eat when no one is looking. Of course a lock is needed to fully prevent this but this gate is a nice start, visual barrier for her to see. Easy install, nice and tall, sturdy and easy to open and close. The door will automatically close when opened one way and will stay open when you open it the other, very helpful. Cat door can be a little difficult to open and close but it opens and closes.

I bought this to keep my cat out of my living room while I am asleep, he tends to tear up the couch . And let me tell you, this thing has turned my living room into an impenetrable fortress that no fur nor paw can breech. It is so tall that he can't jump over it, the bars are vertical instead of horizontal so he can't climb it, and the included hardware have mounted it so securely that he can't break through it or knock it down. It was easy to install, it is made of good materials, and it is very easy to operate/open even with your hands completely full. I spent quite a lot of time looking at different options and I am very glad that this is the one I settled on, it does what it is supposed to and it does it without getting in my way. I knocked off one star because part of the gate was bent when I recieved it, I actually had to use a saw to remove part of the metal because I couldn't bend it out of the way. It sucks that I had to use a saw but it also kind of speaks to the build quality because I physically could not bend the metal surrounding the gate.
