The Ninja SLUSHi with RapidChill Technology is a countertop frozen drink machine designed to chill and churn drinks into a slush-style consistency without needing ice. I was really excited to try it because the idea sounds great: pour in your drink, let the machine do its thing, and end up with a smooth frozen slushie. The RapidChill feature is the big selling point here, but after several tests, the results just were not what I expected. I was hoping for more of that classic 7-Eleven Slurpee or convenience store slushie texture, and I never really got there. It did eventually get cold and slushy, but the consistency was not as satisfying as I wanted it to be. It also takes around an hour to get cold and mix properly, so this is not exactly an instant treat machine. On top of that, it is fairly loud while running, so it is not something I would want going in the background all evening. The size is another issue. This machine is a beast, and it would not fit under my standard-height kitchen cabinets. That makes it harder to store or leave out on the counter unless you have a lot of open space. I also found that diet soda is not simple to use with it. You have to add something like allulose to help it freeze into a slush, but that left a bad aftertaste for me, which basically ruined the drink. I can see this being better for people who mainly want to make frozen alcoholic drinks, and I am guessing it could do a decent job with the right recipes. But for me, I already make great margaritas with my Vitamix, and that blender is far more versatile. It can make frozen drinks, smoothies, soups, sauces, and a lot more, while the SLUSHi is really only useful for one specific thing. Overall, I wanted to love this machine, but I do not think I would reach for it nearly as often as I thought I would. It is large, loud, slow, and the slushie texture did not match what I had in mind. Unless you know you will be making frozen drinks constantly and have the counter space for it, I think most people may be better off with a high-quality blender instead. I really don't think you'd use this more than a few times per year - for parties or maybe in the summer. ... show more
