Features

  • Ease of use. At its widest setting, the NIKKOR Z 180-600 f/5.6-6.3 VR is great for locating your subject. With a mere 70 turn of the zoom ring, you can reach all the way to 600mm for tight framing with beautiful background compression.
  • Handheld shooting. Built-in optical Vibration Reduction (VR) provides a stabilization effect equivalent to a shutter speed of 5.5 stops* faster, reducing camera blur when panning to track fast-moving subjects.
  • Versatile close shooting. The lens features a minimum focus distance of 4.27 ft at the 180mm zoom position and a large 0.25x reproduction ratio, to turn an unexpected close encounter into a once-in-a-lifetime photo or video. Pairs great with Z teleconverters. Increase your reach by 2x (up to 1200mm) with the Nikon Z Teleconverter TC-2.0x or 1.4x (up to 840mm) with the Z Teleconverter TC-1.4x (sold separately).
  • Feature rich. Quick release tripod foot, strap eyelet, customizable control ring and function buttons provide effortless operation.
  • Balanced and Built-tough. Internal zooming maintains size and center of gravity, as well as minimizes dust intrusion.

  • Amazing lens
I couldn't be happier with the NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR. For the price point, the performance is absolutely stellar. The internal zoom is a massive plus; it keeps the lens balanced and prevents the barrel from extending, which is huge when you’re tracking fast-moving subjects like birds or wildlife. The VR is rock solid, allowing for crisp handheld shots even at the 600mm end. Autofocus is snappy and quiet, and the image quality remains sharp across the entire zoom range. Whether you’re shooting at the local park or out in the field for a full day, this lens delivers professional-level results without the weight or cost of a prime super-telephoto. If you are looking for a versatile lens that can handle everything from medium-range subjects or birding, this is easily the best lest for the money you can get for the Z series ... show more

  • Super sharp
Nikon: always excellent quality. A bit heavy for hand-holding but perfect for a tripod.

  • Great with a Z8, So so a Z7
I use this lens with two different cameras, a Nikon Z8, and Z7. When using with the Z7, I often have a hard time getting the lens to focus especially when zoomed in. I do not experience this focus issue when using my Z8. The image quality is impressive for a non S lens, enough so I felt safe selling my Nikon 100-400 s lens. as expected it packs some weight, but no where near a 600 prime lens. I especially like the fact this lens does not expand when zooming in, so getting dust inside the lens isnt a problem. ... show more

  • Very sharp, and smooth.
First day out for a few shots. I snapped a Bald Eagle about 500 yards away being harassed by a seagull. Shot a Snowy Egret plucking minnows at low tide, alongside a Greater Yellowlegs. Autofocus was crisp in afternoon sunlight. I’m shooting with a Z5II, so my crop is limited with 24 megapixels. All things considered, I’m very satisfied with the results compared to my 80-400 G with FTZ adapter. Overall color rendering is clean and saturated. This lens is an excellent choice if you’re looking for an affordable 600mm Z mount. ... show more

  • Amazing lens, Delay with no clear reason.
The lens is an exceptional addition to my photography arsenal. Its pairing with my Z5II results in a highly effective combination. However, I must express my disappointment with the shipping experience. Despite being a $2,000 item, Amazon’s tracking system was inadequate, leading to a significant delay. A more accurate and detailed tracking system would be greatly appreciated. While the lens itself is a five-star product, the shipping experience is a one-star rating. ... show more

  • Excellent quality, versatile lens
This lens is large, heavy, pricey and completely worth it. I've been on waitlists to buy this lens for months and finally decided to pay a rather hefty premium (~17%) through a reputable Amazon seller just to obtain it. As much as I hate to spend over list price, I'm glad I did. It's simply not as available as I'd like. Curse you, "Supply and Demand"! You win again! [grin] I've been impressed with the clarity of the photos taken with this lens. The internal zoom keeps the lens nicely balanced on a tripod or when using the tripod mount hand-held. I've read comments about images not being as crisp at 600mm as the are at 180-360mm or so compared to a 600mm prime lens. I have to say that I can't think of any telephoto zoom lenses I've ever used (Nikon, Canon, Zuiko) that can compare to their telephoto prime counterparts. The optics are simply different. I agree that there is some degradation at 600mm with this lens, but for my purposes it is negligible. As an example, the attached photo was taken with a Nikon Z7-II at full zoom, 600mm, ISO 64, f/6.3 at 1/400s. I didn't expect this beautiful bird to show up and I had no tripod handy, so this was taken hand-held. Focus centered on the eagle's wing and as can be seen in the cropped image, the detail is fantastic. DOF is pretty narrow, though. Look closely at the wing feathers to see how sharp the lens is. I've been extremely pleased with this lens and recommend it highly if you need the versatility of 180mm to 600mm. Maybe Nikon will ramp up production? ... show more
