  • Great light for planted tank
Size: 48 - 60 in
This light is a great value and easy to program. Overall a 4.5 star. The only negative is the wire stand which is flimsy, but that is the same even with more expensive lights. This light is being used on top of a 5 foot (60") tank so with the legs extended all the way they bow a little. Instead I added some heavier and taller 3.5" legs made for Hygger to give it strength and also lift it higher above the water. My tank also has two Hygger HG957 lights end-to-end since they don't make a light long enough, and this NICREW light is being used at the front of the tank to get better coverage front to back. The NICREW is super BRIGHT, I had to dial it back to 40% when used along side the Hygger lights... which are being run at 70% (but same brightness). Pros: 1) Slim design and seems very well built. 2) Easy to program (once you learn how). Much easier than Hygger which has a odd program. 3) Super high output - I am only using this at 40% W/R and 40% B. This is compared to the Hygger 957 that I am running at 70%. Good light penetration down to the substrate even above a 24" deep tank. 4) Color and intensity appears to be similar to the much more expensive Fluval Plant LEDs. 5) PRICE is great! I think the Fluval is 6x the price and Hygger slightly higher but cost me even more because I needed 2 to cover a 60" long tank. Cons: 1) Extension legs are a little weak when fully extended. 2) The clock time is not saved during a power outage (or unplugged), but this is the same for most brand LEDs I've tried. The program remains but the time resets to 12:00. Easily fixed by adding a small computer battery backup to maintain the program time. 3) When setting up a custom program there is no separate color adjustment for Red, the White and Red are one combined channel and Blue is the second channel. Not a big deal and really can't complain for the price. 4) No WiFi, just the wired controller... which can also be a plus. But it's also much cheaper than those with WiFi remote programming so I won't complain. Overall this is a fantastic light. Time will tell if it holds up over a long period of time but at the price it can be replaced several times before spending as much as the Fluval lights. ... show more

  • Good light for plants
Size: 48 - 60 in
Don't let the size full you. When I first got it I didn't believe it have any power because it's skinny. Once you set it up on an aquarium is when you'll see it's power. It's definitely bright enough for medium lighting plants but high lighting and low foreground plants may or may not do well depending how tall your tank is. Very nice light controlling from white+red to blues. Best thing is that the light controller will remember it's light settings after powering off and on. The light does get hot but won't burn out. Don't let the low price scare you away and buy expensive led light because at the end they both do the same thing. Recommended to get a glass lid to help the light last longer because it's not ip rated and moistures can get inside the light and decrease the longevity of your lights. ... show more

  • Light is VERY bright! Controller box is a little cheap though
Size: 48 - 60 in
Everything works well. My only gripe is the control box is very cheaply made. Numbers disappear with any amount of pressure applied. It’s also a bit confusing but maybe I’m just dumb. Overall very worth the money

  • It's slim line design.
Size: 48 - 60 in
I like how slim and bright this light is, the Longavity of the light is something of concern, my light stop working around 3 year due to power pack failure, my lights are on a timer which is set for 10hrs. a day, but I am very pleased with this product and have just purchased 3more.

  • Died after ~4 months of use
Size: 48 - 60 in
Light looked great until it died. One morning during the timer cycle, using the NICREW prescribed timer, it flickered then went out entirely. Not really surprised considering the country of origin. However, the manufacturer touts a one year warranty. I've been going back and forth with them trying to get them to honor the warranty, but it is proving difficult. I may update this review if they finally honor their warranty claims, but I'm not going to expect much. ... show more

  • Really bright 🌞 and nice form factor.
Size: 48 - 60 in
I have a 75 gallon and it's 18 inches wide I found that for pretty much any light you need 2 for good coverage, even a fluval 3.0 I have to say I am impressed only thing that could make it better is a bluetooth control module 😁 or even a IR remote. I could easily put 3 on this 75 as these lights are only 2.5 inches wide. Anyways these lights are really pretty awesome and you can specify up to a 2 hour ramp up time for the sunrise/sunset and it shows the brightness percentage of each channel as it's ramping up or down and its a nice smooth ramp up/down. ... show more

  • Bright light in small package
Size: 48 - 60 in
Over all I'm happy with this light. It's over twice the brightness (actually measured) than my previous light and half the housing size. I can't really say how much it's affecting plant growth yet but the luminosity measurements are certainly promising. My only complaint is that I have to run the light at 100% brightness (both white & blue) because the dimming function uses PWM which is very hard on my eyes. The PWM is still present at 100% but much less than when dimmed; with the light directly on the glass and a high water level it is almost tolerable for short viewing times. Unfortunately this is a problem with most lights manufactured today and although better than any florescent they are causing increasing problems with human and animal health so I'm hoping non flickering/pulsing (at any speed) designs will be used for future models . ... show more
