I have 7 fish tanks now and 4 of them have these lights. The programming ability is VERY cool. I have them all sync'ed (since you input the current time) and so they all act at the same time! On one, I even had to adjust the brightness down about 25% as algae was building up. Algae was nearly gone in a week and still has enough light for the plants. Great lights with the easy to use programmable remote. I don't have a lot of experience with other brands but did get one of those Hygger ones with the 3 buttons, when my buddy gave me his whole setup. I've yet to research or read how to set it (LOL) and just guess about the time I want it to transition. Anyway, all my plants seem to be doing very well with this lighting. An enhancement request... the wire frame extendy things that reach to either side of your tank are low to the water surface. I would like a set of wire frames that would put them about 6 to 8 inches OVER the tank. Not sure how they can engineer that cost effectively. What I did was pull them out, take it to my bench vise, and just bent them where I wanted... but that changes how they fit to the edge because of the bends. One drawback, if I'm to nit-pick. We had some bad storms a few days ago and we lost power. When the power even glitches, these things reset their time to midnight (I think it was) but didn't seem to lose any of the custom settings... But is that even a problem? Maybe future models could have a little backup battery supply for this sort of event. I've heard places like California can experience many brown-outs, so I imagine it can become tedious to have to always reset the time. Doesn't happen often here, so no worries. So if power glitches at night, I guess it's good to reset to midnight so all your tanks don't suddenly come to life while you're sleeping! LOL Hope that helps. Really impressed with how well this light works. Controller is easy to use and allows for a lot of customization. I really like the ramp up and down feature. Plants are loving it! Using it in my patio pond with various live plants.

Pros: it can be customized to a great extent to suit most people's needs. It is bright. It is good for plants. Cons: 1. it is very difficult to customize it. 2. You can easily lose all your customizing works if there is power outage. You have to redo it.

Product is well designed. It's easy to program. You can program when the light first starts to come on, how long until full brightness, when it starts to dim, and how long until it is off (the ramp up and ramp down periods must be the same). You can also program how long a "moon mode" of blue lights lasts after the daylight lights turn off, including no moon mode. If the power cuts out, you have to reset the time, but you don't have to reprogram anything else. Highly recommend. ... show more

I ordered 2 of the 4 ft wide NICREW SkyLED Plus Aquarium Plant Lights. One unit worked perfectly the other unit had a bad controller. The clock would not advance and the timer would not work. Instead of just returning it to Amazon (because it's 4 ft long it would have been inconvenient to return ship, even though it's free), I decided to contact Nicrew support to see if they could just ship me a replacement controller. They responded right away and after exchanging a few emails trying to diagnose if it was actually defective, they concluded it was defective and shipped me a replacement controller. I received the replacement controller within a week or so and it worked perfectly. The plants in my aquarium have never grown as vigorously with these lights. Also the programmable controller has a default setup which is perfect for our needs, didn't have to do much programming except setting the time of day. ... show more

    • Love this light with so many features

I am so glad I bought this light. I have 2 planted aquariums. One is a standard 10 gallon with kit lights the other is a 15 gallon cube with this light. The difference is most noticeable with my red root floaters and my bacopa. In both tanks I have Java fern, bacopa, and red roof floaters. The Java fern attached to wood much faster with this light and the red roof floaters look great and the bacopa has grown quite tall in just a few days. I also have an anubias nana which attached to the wood within a few days. The differences in my tanks has made me consider getting a glass lid and buying this light again for that tank. Don’t waste your money on a $300 aquarium plant light if all your plants are low to medium light plants buy this instead. Also love the settings the sun rises and sets at whatever time you choose and you can decide how long it takes for the sun to set also how long the moon light lasts. Personally I have sun rise at 7:30am full light till 7pm sunset 7-8 and moonlight 8-10 completely off 10pm-730am. It has white lights, red lights, and blue lights. If you buy this light you won’t regret it. The price is really good as well. ... show more

I am using this light on 2 cichlid aquariums. A 75 gallon long and a 65 gallon deep. The light reaches the bottom of the 65 deep with ease. The light makes all my cichlids colors pop. The fish seem to be more active and less stressed with this light setup. Remote took a second to figure out. Instructions are a must. I do not have planted tanks, so I cannot attest to plant growth. Lights are very bright for such a narrow fixture. Color adjustments are nice. I will b e putting this light on all my tanks in the future. ... show more

Have the 36" version of this light on my 36" 22g rimless. It is very bright, I am currently running it on 40% during the day and it is growing my plants very well. The controller is easy to use and program. I like how it has an adjustable sunset/sunrise feature; I have mine set to the max at 120 minutes and it's perfect. It's also nice to be able to adjust the brightness separately for both the blue and white/red lights. If I can get a couple of years out of it I would consider it well worth the price. Only time will tell, but as for right now this is an amazing light and a great value. ... show more
