I was a bit skeptical of this because I haven’t purchased anything from this brand before, but I decided to pull the trigger and buy the planted tank light. I first used this on my 10 gallon, but then moved it to my 20 high, and eventually on my 29. I even knocked it completely in the tank, but I pulled it out quick and yanked the plug from the wall. After letting it dry out for a week, it was good as new and completely survived the submersion. I thought this was a nice touch, as accidents happen. It is a really strong light. Even though a 29 gallon is 30 inches wide, the 18 inch light works like a charm. It’s bright enough and has the range to allow all of my plants to grow. My previous light was dinky and my plants were withering away, but when I threw this bad boy on there they sprung right up. The full spectrum mode lets all of my plants grow super well. It might actually be too bright for some fish, but there is an option to tone down the light. This is a tad complex to figure out in the beginning but the manual explains. The blue light is cool, but not very useful (at least to me). I do like the option to turn it on to this if I please. Overall, Nicrew did a good job and this light is worth the money to make your tank shine and your plants grow. Cheers and have a good day.

The light itself feels solid and seems to be holding up so far. At 100%, it's plenty bright, and it's nice that the moonlight brightness/color is adjustable. I docked it a star because the controller feels cheap and the menus are a little bit of a pain. It's a decent budget light.

I love this light, and this is the second one I have purchased - I have the same one (only larger) on my 40-gallon aquarium. It is bright, easy to program, and functions precisely. I love the "wind-down" period I set, which gradually reduces the level of brightness, simulating natural daylight-to-dusk. This is a wonderful product.

Unplugged it to blow off fish flakes and it must have fried the internal circuitry. The blue lights on one side work at half power. The red work fine but the white don’t work at all. Bought it at the end of August 2020 failed December 5, 2020. Must have got a defective one. Update: The company offered to refund our money and we bought another Nicrew light to try something different. We got the NICREW ClassicLED Gen 2 Aquarium Light, Dimmable LED Fish Tank Light with 2-Channel Control, White and Blue LEDs, High Output 18-24in. We'll see how it goes. So far so good. Seems like a nice light! Cristina at their customer service department has been very helpful and these guys seem to stand behind their products.

I hope this fixture lasts awhile -- it is very slim; lowest profile of any LED fixture I have ever seen. Also, it has some adjustability in the light intensity levels, but not overwhelming. For a freshwater aquarium, this is a beautiful and simple fixture; the white spectrum lighting is beautiful and the blue (moonlight) setting also has an intensity adjustment. What I like about this fixture is that, unlike a lot of inexpensive fixtures, you don't go from White to OFF to Blue (which I find very annoying). All on and off of either W or B light is in the middle (Mode) button. Intensity adjustments are made with the W and B buttons--it couldn't be simpler! Therefore, if you have the fixture on the white setting, when you hit the mode button once, it goes immediately to the blue setting (which I really like -- in the evening, I will have the aquarium on the blue setting for several hours until I turn it off entirely). To turn everything off, you simply hold the M button down for 3 seconds. When you turn the fixture back on, it will return to the last setting (in my case, the blue); hit the M button again to switch to another light spectrum. The downside, I suspect but do not know for sure, is that because of the way the fixture is operated, it may not be workable with a standard timer.

I first bought the 12" version of this light for my 3 gallon Monte Carlo nano tank. It works fine but the controller has a mind of its own. Just getting it to turn off can be a chore. But it does work and my plants are rooting and growing just fine. However, I needed a longer light, so I bought the 18" version. Manually turning on and off the light works fine, but programming the controller's on/off light schedule is impossible with the instructions provided. And there are no YouTube videos that show the process for this particular controller. If you are on a limited budget, then this light works fine. But I'll be looking for a light with a better controller.
