There is a lot to like about this light bar. Its much brighter that the fluorescent tube fixture I was using for sure. The ramp up, daylight, moonlight timer is a great addition for the cost. I have 2 48" on a 75 gallon with a glass top (don't have to worry about the waterproof rating so much) for mixed fish/corals and they seem to be fine and growing well with it at less than half the cost of premium reef lights. I have a maxima clam coming and will update the review to include its reaction to the lights. It would be nice however to have control over brightness in daylight and moonlight timer modes. This may not be for the overly serious reef tank owner with delicate corals but for the basic saltwater tank owner it seems to do great. ... show more

Using this as an addition to my Current led . Now my anenome is out and happy as are my soft corals. This light would work well alone for live rock and fish and possibly corals like Kenya tree and mushrooms. Excellent additional light without breaking the bank. The timer instructions are vague but if you play with it you'll figure it out ... show more

These lights are exactly what I'd been looking for growing out my Acan frags. I bought two to start and couldn't be happier! The price was right, set up simple, they're light weight, well built, and there's no need to hang them. These rest perfectly across the top of the glass covered 40 gallon breeders I use for frags, they generate very little heat, and there's no ballast to deal with. Right now the growth we're seeing is quite promising, corals seem to love this spectrum, they look amazing under it. If these Nicrews continue performing like this over time I'll definitely be buying more. ... show more

Update: removing a star… the light loses its configuration on power loss requiring reprogramming . Removing a second star: there is not a way to see combined light channel configuration in real time. Once you save the changes to a single channel which you can see, you go back to a combined setting and then you get to see the combined channel changes that were made. Original review: Using the 48” on my 55 gallon reef tank with soft, sps, lps . The timer is easy to program, easy to read instructions included in English. I have used lights at double the price and these CAN compete. Other lights are hung high above the tank, these sit directly over the water, the expensive high watt lights that you set at 50% anyway are not needed. ... show more
