I purchase several things on Amazon and was giving pretty in-depth reviews. From this point on, here's the new agenda…. if it works as advertised, is well made, meets or exceeds the description, is a value, and arrives in a fair amount of time, it will get a "star rating" equal to what my expectations were/are. If it doesn't meet these criteria, then I will most definitely and descriptively tell the short comings of the products and you as a consumer will not have to go through the trouble of buying the product without some background knowledge. This wired mechanical doorbell chime was easy to install and works reliably for a simple home setup. The two-note chime has a clean, traditional sound that’s loud enough to hear throughout the house without being overly harsh. The white design blends in nicely with most walls and entry spaces. The material feels fairly lightweight, but once mounted, it functions well and looks clean. Overall, it’s a dependable replacement option that brings back that classic doorbell sound.

Had a visitor the other day that I was unaware of due to my doorbell not working. I knew it hadn't worked for a few years but wasn't sure of the problem. Finally took the cover off and inspect it. The metal plate held by the rubber pieces fell off the bracket. Rubber pieces were dried out. It was the original doorbell from when the house was built in 1970. Didn't want to spend a whole lot so I opted for this doorbell. Easy to install. Unscrewed the old one and screwed this one in its place. Had to paint the area where the old one was as this one is a bit smaller. It is somewhat loud when it rings. Only have one doorbell button connected to it. But the sound does activate my four legged alarm when visitors ring the doorbell.

It works, however, this doorbell has one plunger. When the doorbell is pushed, the magnetic plunger rises for The first chime, has good tone. On the second chime the plunger releases (free falls ) and hits the second chime and it’s not as strong of a tone. It’s ok for the price.

The chime on my old doorbell broke so I wanted to replace it with an old fashioned, two-note doorbell, not an electronic one. This one works great. I wanted to keep my original wooden cover, so I did not use the white plastic cover it comes with. With just a Phillips screwdriver, I unscrewed the wires and removed the old chime from the wall. The screw holes on the new one did not line up with the old one, but that's ok for me since the doorbell cover I have is oversized and covered up the old screw holes. After screwing the new one to the wall and attaching the wires, I tested it out and it sounds great. I did not turn off the power as stated in the instructions. I used a multimeter to confirm there was no electricity going to the wires before I unscrewed them. That's expected since the doorbell button controls flow of electricity.
