  • So far, this is the greatest value in a printer that I have ever experienced . . .
I've been using computers and printers since the 80s. I started with a daisy-wheel printer - picture a small metallic cup with 40 or so fingers sticking up around the periphery. The thing would spin until the correct letter was facing the paper, then a little hammer would slam the finger into the paper, effectively printing the letter just like a mechanical typewriter would. Also had a dot matrix. That was 35 years ago. This Kyocera is, probably, the 20th printer I've owned. We use it for a 2 person business, with light scanning and printing - figure 20-300 pages per day. This unit is a monster, and I mean that in the best way possible. Set up was very easy. Pull the packing materials, set it up, set the toner in place, turn it on, follow the prompts. With todays Windows 10, the computers all found and installed the printer automatically. Within 5 minutes, BOOM, printing. Print quality is fantastic. Print speed is quick, both to start and to print. If you send a large PDF, the machine will take a few seconds to process before printing. To put this technology in perspective, this machine is supplementing/replacing a Kyocera 1035-MFP, which was, minus the fax, the equivalent device in 2012 when I bought it. That unit, as well, was beastly, but not at this level. The prior unit has worked virtually flawlessly. Ready for this? That unit cost $800.00 back then, which is close to a $940.00 now, factored for inflation. This unit cost just over $500.00, and, for about half the price, you're getting a significantly better machine. Just unreal. I just scanned, on the new unit, about 1,200.00 pages of various types of documents - new, old, folder, dog eared, and so on. Flawless feed, both single sided and double. Sit down for this one - - - the double sided scan and copy feature is a single-pass. The old unit I have would suck the paper in, scan it, feed it back up through the feeder, flip it over, scan the other side, feed it back down, then out. Slow, noisy, and prone to jamming. The new one? This one? One pass. Not sure how they pulled that off, but it's quiet, does not jam, and is quicker (slower feed, but only one pass, so quicker). Unbelievable. A small note. On the old unit, I had to reset the main function button when I scanned to present "DUPLEX" as an option to avoid having to dig through function menus. A shortcut key, as it were. The new unit? That's the default! BOOM again. Finally, and importantly, setting up scan-to-folder on the old unit was not intuitive and was fraught with pitfalls. You had to enter all target computer info into the keypad on the unit - not easy, and tedious. The new one? Here's the process. Go to your computer. Add a shared folder to your root drive (C: drive). Now, open a browser and type in the LAN IP of the Kyocera in the URL bar. If you are unsure what it is, you will need to log in to your router control panel and figure it out (almost always, DHCP). Then take that LAN IP and punch it into your browser. A Kyocera dialog will open up and you can add the shared folder of your computer as an address in the printer. After that, you will be able to go to the printer, hit scan, hit address, pick your computer, then hit ENTER. BOOM, file scanned in PDF right to your folder. Put a shortcut on your desktop to the scan folder, and you're living large. If that sounded complicated, you might need some help setting up a scan-to-folder (SMB). I found a website that walks you through it. You'll need your computer name, user name, user password, and folder name, and you'll have to enter it in the correct fields. Not difficult, but you have to know your way around a PC. You'll always have the option of scanning to email and scanning to a USB thumb drive inserted in the printer, remember. This is one of the best pieces of equipment I've ever owned. It can easily handle much more than we put through it. If the other Kyocera we own is any indication, we will not need to do much with this unit - we have never touched anything on the 2012 version except the consumables - as much toner as we use and a drum that we replaced once after 100,000 copies or so. Love the brand, love the printer - I will update this review if we have any issues, but don't hold your breath. Strong recommendation. ... show more

  • Reliable
I've had several B&W laser & ink jet All In One printers. I had a TI 30 years ago that was great and lasted a long time as did a Lexmark. I have had it with Ink printers; if I want color, I'll go to a copy center and print, or send photos to Walgreens or Walmart. My previous laser was a Brother and it was good for like 2-3 years, and it was under $300. I expect reliability. This time I sprung for Kyocera who has always had a really good tech reputation. I bought this in May 2022, and have printed about 3,600 pages. I had a few questions during initial setup, and support was FABULOUS and on-shore (America). I never felt rush. I connected with a very knowledgeable support engineer. not a "customer support" person, he understood exactly how this worked without putting me on hold several times. I don't fax (it's the 21st Century). I do scan and this feature is great. I have zero complaints. I was purchasing 10 motorized Hunter-Douglas Roman Shades (these are expensive, again, you get what you pay for w/Hunter-Douglas), and the dealer also had all Kyocera printers. I have no doubt they get a lot more use that I give it, and they loved them too. With Kyocera you get what you pay for. While I've had this for 2+ years, it is great! If you are looking for reliability and above all quality, this will be a long-lived printers. ... show more

  • Excellent Business Quality Equipment
I own a small business in medical field. I’ve used Brother Multi Copiers for over 10 years but realized buying new ones couple times per year due to melting an area near the drums. Kyocera cost more but is build for commercial use. I bought a total of 3 (one for different offices). So far excellent performance without any issues. PS as an added bonus cost of toner is lot less per copy. ... show more

  • Vendor has the BEST Tech Support
The printer came early and undamaged. I was able to set it up for printing and faxing, but was unable to set up the "Send to Email" feature. Called tech support listed in the product documentation (not Kyocera). These guys came to the rescue. They remotely connected to the computer I was using to test the new printer and compared the new printer protocols and addresses with the currently working printer. The thing would NOT send any emails. The guys then had me use a different email server (temp fix) and that worked. There was no hardware problem - just my "tight" network. They were on the line for at least an hour and most patient. I highly recommend this vendor (and his tech support). ... show more

Have been using brothers for so many years needed a new change so switch with this brand. But this printer is crappy. The damn printer is NOT recognizing its own TONER that it came with. WTF!!! Kyocera do better!!!! your machine is UNABLE to read its OWN toner!!! Such a waste of TIME and MONEY!!!

  • Excellent machine for the price
This item replaced another Kyocera product, the 1128 model. Works perfectly for my situation, I highly recommend this product. I had a couple of issues with the machine, the Seller, Twelve-Forty Distribution, did an outstanding job fixing them, I recommend this product and Twelve-Forty.
