  • Excellent portable speakers
Color: Black
I got JBL Boombox 3 and while that thing is the best in its class, it is too big to carry around (take all the space, weight in the carry-on luggage). Bose Soundlink Max sounds almost as good while being much smaller. It is better than Sony Ult 5 and JBL Xtreme 4. It is worth the extra $ vs. other options ... show more

  • Best bass
Color: Black
This speaker is incredible. Sound is so good , bass is deep and powerful. I can't even keep it more than 30% volume in hotel rooms. It is about 4x louder than the JBL speakers

  • It’s Bose
Color: Black
I am an electronic and gadget freak. I like to try new products and I am always excited when something comes out that gets a lot of buzz. Bose has been around a long time and either like them or you don’t. I always questioned the price to value ratio of there products. One thing I can say everything they make is built to last and it’s always quality. Quality materials and a good customer experience. I owned Bose acoustimass back in the day and upgraded to a full system with 301’s and I loved that system. Great full sounds, clarity and bass. I got away from Bose as I got older because the prices were just too extreme for my budget. I have purchased many Bluetooth speakers from JBL, Soundcore, and Harmon Kardon. They all bring something great to the table. Now I saw the new Bose Soundlink max for $100 off during the holidays and I made the purchase. I love this speaker. It’s my go to when I want something to carry around while doing work around the house or just sitting down with a cocktail. This little speaker sounds full and defies its size. Bluetooth connectivity is quick and responsive. I got the black and I bought a third party case to protect it when I’m outside and it looks great. Battery life around 40% volume I got just past the 20 hour mark as advertised. Kick up the volume you’ll obviously get less. If you get down to 20% battery it takes about 4 hours to charge. The buttons are soft and tactile. You have your power button, multi function button you can program, Bluetooth button, volume up and down and track forward and back/pause. Minimalist lighting which I like. When I use this in the bedroom it doesn’t light up the room. I have yet to try snapdragon sound as I don’t use android. The sound I get through Apple Music lossless sounds great. Good clarity size defying bass and great mids. Full sounding and it makes me smile every time I turn this thing on. There’s an app with eq and everything you need to tailor your sound. Bose should take the route Soundcore does and have more eq settings but what’s here works. I love this speaker and it’s my go to amongst all my toys. At $299 highly recommended at $399 still worth it but it’s Bose it’s a luxury purchase. Totally worth it!! Tried so many Bluetooth speakers and this is the best all rounder for music lovers. If you’re on the fence.. go for it! There are louder speakers out there but they don’t have the sound quality this one has. ... show more

  • It’s a BOSE!
Color: Black
I only have one word of caution: do NOT separate your bass from your mids too much, as you may blow your speakers. I am an audiophile, I listen to all genres, and when I began playing music with power chords (Godsmack, Slipknot, etc.) I could hear the strain in in the speakers (clicks, and cracks), so if you’re a metal head, use caution! As for hip hop, I found this to be a “gifted” speaker, especially if you know how to utilize the acoustics in spaces which will actually enhance the dynamic range. So, for example, I like to place my speaker in the corner of a room, or a nook/cranny of a room. You begin to hear its limitations with genres like Tejano, folk, as with a couple others. Electronica sounds decent on this speaker, but it’s lacking in that “expansive” feeling that comes with the drops in subgenres like ‘drum and bass’, nevertheless, it still fills the room, with proper equalizer settings, which you download through Googplay/Appstore. The equalizer only has bass, mids & treble settings. Connection is simple and easy. If you can’t connect this speaker, then it would either be ‘User Error’, or a malfunctioning speaker, which you rarely ever hear of with this brand. I’d recommend buying a protective casing, w/ strap. You can remove the handle for it, but I’m not messing with that. The aux jack and the charger port are both open and can’t be covered, which made me scratch my head, but the speaker offers intel on humidity, condensation and will let you know if it’s safe to charge. And, speaking of charge, this speaker doesn’t hold too much of a charge. I haven’t timed a full charge, but when I did fully charge it, the battery zapped down to 90% in no time. There’s really not much more to say, except buy one (if you have the money for it). You get what you pay for. I just got the Bose Flexlink and tried to link the two via their “shortcut” button with zero results. The shortcut button on this speaker does not work, which seems to be tandem with another review I read. Just remember: where you place your speaker will impact your listening experience. (Note: I bought a Bugani M83 Bluetooth speaker, a few years back, which was a good little speaker. It’s slightly bigger than this Bose, but doesn’t even compare.) I just have to keep reminding myself that it’s a Bluetooth speaker, and not a larger system. I just put really high expectations on Bose. Update: I, recently, watched a video on YouTube comparing this with the JBL Xtreme 4, while my phone was connected to my Bose speaker and, tbh, I felt that this was the superior speaker in a few ways, but the JBLs sound was a bit “tinny”, like the vocalist was singing into a can of sorts. The JBL has a removable battery, longer battery life (+4 hours), is easier to interconnect to other speakers, the sound will “boost” when you plug it in, it’s a bit louder and it comes with its own strap. As for the Bose, well.. I just think that it sounded better, plus I like that it uses 3 different codecs instead of the standard SBC, that the JBL runs. PS. I, recently, purchased the Bose Soundlink Flex Bluetooth speaker & after listening to half of a song on it, I put it back in its package and returned it asap. I have a little Tribit speaker, I paid $30 for & it sounds just as good as the Bose did, with the EQ at full. I was extremely disappointed. ... show more
