This. Cage. Is. AMAZING! The main issue that people have to say is that is seems "wobbly" or "flimsy". This is absolutely NOT the case! This cage is SOLID! I am 100% convinced that people with those concerns didn't snap the corners correctly. If your cage's corners seemed "pinched", it's because the wire edges aren't all the way snapped into the white plastic corner hinges. Be warned: getting this right IS tricky, but it makes all the difference, so please take my advice: 1) Each white corner hinge has two tiny little hooks nestled inside. The vertical wire of the cage sides need to snap UNDER these inner hooks. 2) There are two snapping clicks per wire edge (that's 4 clicks PER CORNER, 16 clicks total). The first set of clicks when you snap on the white corner pieces are easy and will hold the corner LOOSELY together, but the wire will seem "pinched", "bowed" or "bent". You need to push AND pull, HARD, to get the wire to snap again (LOUDLY) under the little hooks mentioned above. Once you manage that -- voila! -- beautiful, strong, AND sturdy! I'm am dumbfounded by the complaints about this cage being difficult to clean. It is SO easy. There are two secure latches on the long sides that snap easily easily. All you have to do is lift the top portion up and set it on a towel or something. The wire grate pops out easily and rinses fast. Yes, the shape of the bottom tray is not usual (rounded corners, with little semicircles on the short edge where the food dishes attach/carrying handles are). If you line your cage with paper or towels, all you have to do is cut a rectangle and snip round the corners (or if you're a bit OCD, TRACE the bottom of the tray), then snip a row of strips where the cups are and it'll slide right in. If you trim a stack of your favorite lining, all you have to do is remove the top couple of layers, every time you clean. - OR - use Carefresh or similar brand (paper clump lining that accommodates any cage shape) - OR - use nothing at all because the inside is slippery plastic and will rinse super easy. Really guys, it's NOT HARD AT ALL! The ONLY criticism I have about this cage other than the tricky corners is that the top is not perfectly flat. It's got a nice, slight bend in the middle, which is aesthetically pleasing, but if you plan on putting a gym on top, it will wobble (SLIGHTLY) if you set it in the middle. Again, this is minor and easily solved by: a) placing the gym to one side of the cage top, b) placing a towel or something under the gym to bolster it during play time, or c) just place the gym somewhere else in your domicile. It also would be nice if they had included a ladder or something to make reaching the bottom easier (since the clear "debris catcher" area extends about 4 inches up the cage, there's no way for the little guys to easily climb down to the food dish). Again, easy fix: attach a small ladder (which any good bird owner already has!) to the cage side, or across a dowel that spans the middle and you're golden. So, to sum up! Pros: -Solid construction -High quality materials -Looks very nice -Clear band across the bottom keeps seeds and feathers IN while allowing you an unobstructed view of your bird from all angles while he plays at the bottom--it's nice to look at him through something other than the bars!) -Snapping bottom tray makes cleaning a piece of cake -Built-in handles under the food dish makes transportation a breeze -Surprisingly roomie, even after filled with toys. Perfect for smaller birds (songbirds, finches, parakeets, parrotlets, etc.) Cons: -Snapping the corners is not well illustrated in the instructions, and is challenging to do correctly -Slightly bowed top can makes setting anything on top a bit wobbly -No ladder included for easy access to the bottom and food dishes -The bottom is not a standard shape, so it takes about 20 extra seconds to trim lining to size I purchased this cage as the main home for my little linnie and he LOVES it. Linnies prefer to walk/eat along the bottom of the cage, so the design is PERFECT for this breed. Good for me too! He spends so much time on the floor of the cage, I can see him perfectly through the clear plastic! I HIGHLY recommend this cage that will make BOTH birds and owners very happy!

I chose this bird cage because it looks like a better quality cage than the powder-coated black or white cages at my local pet shop. The thicker, silver horizontal bars on this cage look good and feel sturdy. The overall look of the cage is sleek, with the silver bars and small amounts of white/grey plastic. The overall aesthetic is important to me so that I feel my pets have a good home. This is my favorite thing about the cage. This is the L12 model, which is wide and also tall. This is a great home for our two parakeets. It certainly does not seem too large in any way. The birds mostly choose to hang out in the top portions of the cage. They sleep at the top. They play at the top. I hope in time, they will also come outside the cage to play (but they are young and not yet comfortable about coming out of the cage). They like the room inside the cage and look happy. One of the main features of the cage is the clear plastic base, which keeps seeds from flying all over the place. Although I understand this design, it doesn't apply if you place seed cups higher up in the cage. My birds don't want to eat out of the seed cups at the base of the cage. This is not a complaint about the cage design - just an observation that my birds don't spend any time on the floor of the cage. My birds eat and drink in the middle of the cage, so there is some amount of mess that escapes the cage. I didn't use the seed cups or perches that come with the cage because I read other reviews that said other perches and cups are better. It has been fun to select a variety of perches made of natural woods and fibers. Almost all of them fit perfectly in the cage and attach well to the bars. The doors are good. There are two side-by-side doors at the top and lower/middle of the cage, on the front only. You can open just one door and put your hand inside. Or you can open both doors at the same time for a much larger space, which is nice. The roof is good. The roof is flat, with a very slight slant at the center top. The cage is very roomy. I like that the birds seems to have "rooms," like the ground floor, the middle floor, and the top floor. The birds seem to structure their time by going to different parts of the cage at different times of day for activities there, like the little bath or the treat or the toys, etc. This cage is not the kind of cage you would move around much or carry room to room. It isn't very heavy but it is cumbersome due to the size. We keep it on a dresser. I carried it upstairs after assembly (before putting birds inside) and it was quite an armful, about two feet wide, three feet high, and about a foot deep. Assembly was a little tricky because I missed the step about attaching the cage to the clear base by snapping the bars onto the built-in clips on the clear plastic base. I had to back up a step and get that right. I'm not sure if there is a video but watching the steps before trying to figure them out by the picture directions would save you time. It's easy to put together if you've already put one together, but tricky if it is the first time you've seen these types of fasteners. The packaging was excellent and the directions were included. Overall it is an impressive design. I would definitely recommend this brand and this cage. One reason I read reviews was to figure out what size to get. I am so happy I got the biggest one. I feel sure the parakeets agree.

I purchased this Vision cage for my two finches, Pickle & Chief. It has taken me (and them) a while to get used to the different style doors, but after having it a couple of weeks now, it is awesome. It is long enough for them to have their "flights". The doors for the food/water are easy to open and use. I used the perches that came with the cage since they were designed specifically for birds, but I also added a natural branch perch. I also decided to only use one food/water dish instead of both of them. Instead of using one of those dishes for water, I got a water bottle so they could not bathe/poop in their water. The assembly of this cage was super easy. It required absolutely no tools. The wire snapped into place along the plastic pieces. Once everything is snapped accordingly, and the corner pieces are snapped in their place, the cage is very sturdy and secure. I haven't had to clean the cage out just yet, but it is going to be so much better than the original style cages b/c of the way the bottom snaps right off. I also LOVE the bottom. It has really reduced the mess that my boys are able to make (they're pros!). All in all, I think this cage is all around awesome. I feel like I got more bang for my buck from this cage than I did the traditional cage that I had prior to getting this one, and happened to paid more for. The price is right, it reduces the mess, gives the birds more space to "fly", and is easier to clean. I say this is a win-win. The only thing that bummed me out was when I got this cage, inside the box was a catalog for other Vision products, which advertised a night cover. I got online to order one and could not find half of the accessories that the catalog advertised. I sent an e-mail and did get an immediate response. Unfortunately they no longer manufacture the medium sized night cover, only the small. I was thoroughly disappointed, but I guess I will just have to make my own.

I live in Australia and just couldn't find a cage that I liked, as they're all very common/similar, in look & style. This style (with the entire lock base/pull up cage - 'same style as those dome cat-litter trays') is much better than the slide out bottom-tray style. It's easy to open, easier to clean, much less bird mess (the attached seed-shield guard around this cage is awesome!!) & the doors are large and convenient - the two main doors at the front can be opened (one at a time or both, being a bonus) facing them outside or pushed inside, creating another wide perching area for the bird/s to fly in or out with ease as they please & the side doors for the food/water dishes are great too, large and convenient. The ONLY thing I don't overly like with this cage, is the 'plastic' door handle/fittings - I feel they may need replacement (parts) at some stage (just guessing, as haven't had the cage long enough to really know). I would give this cage a full 5-star, as the overall product is fantastic & good quality, but I dropped a star for one reason - placing large objects (such as wide bamboo ladders #, etc.) was a little bit difficult for me, as you have to remove the base to sit those kind of items up within & try get the cage top back down over them, while positioning onto base again. It's not overly difficult though, I'm just being picky, for the 'single' person.. and I'm also in a lot of bodily pain, so it was just more of an uncomfortable inconvenience issue, more than anything else. If you're normal or have two people to help, it's no worries!! Besides, even with other cages you'd have to pull it apart to get BIG items in anyway :) **On the 'putting the cage together' from its store box = easy peasy!! It took me about 15 minutes for the overall build, if that.. and my daughter helped with the final lid placement (evenly popping/clicking of the wire over the latches).. so all up approx' 20 minutes to put together. *One suggestion for the manufacturer would be, to make the majority top of this cage, also as a door!! - a large lift up rectangle door from the top would make toy/features placement & removal soooo much easier :) (as when you lift the cage top from the base, items that aren't attached will move - and sometimes you're not doing it for thorough cleaning purposes). OR make the cage top removable too, like the base.. as the 'wiring' is actually attached to the clear shield/guard anyway. Anywho, My little baby budgie (parakeet) MIDORI has all the room in the world with this cage (could probably have at least 3-4 small birds in this model (Hagen Vision/Medium/Green/M01), perfect for one bird, great for two, not too bad for 3, maximum of 4- for sufficient room). It's quite a huge cage.. I even just put a coconut hutt/ladder & massive coconut twist vine in it and only uses up a corner of the cage, along with natural branch perches, mirror, swings etc. with lots of middle room for her to still move & fly. I would confidentally recommend this cage, for sure.. it is well worth the money and I guess it just depends on what reasoning you're actually looking for in cage features?!! ;) Mine was mainly for the base-style & seed guard (not one single seed to be seen around the outside of the cage - such a bonus!!).. ~Andrea

The cage is really a nice design. First, the base does two things really well. It keeps in the seed and feathers, as many report. But it also stays clean of droppings because it does not get narrower at the bottom like almost all other cages do. No more yucky scraping off droppings on the sides when cleaning the cage. One question I had was whether you have to use the bottom screen, and the answer is no, you don't. Just leave it out, it is not attached. Save it for cooling cookies. I use corn cob on the bottom. Using paper would be more of a nuisance because the bottom has rounded edges and also has ridges, so paper won't lie flat and smooth. Another big advantage is the horizontal cage bars. This makes it far easier for a bird to climb around and enjoy himself. You might find that some old accessories you have don't fit the horizontal bars though. To use a favorite old mirror toy, I got some little stainless steel key rings from a hardware store to hook it into. Don't use cheap metal or twist-ties that the bird can ever reach, though; both can be very toxic. The curved plastic perches have a nice feature: you can wedge stuff into them, like pieces of lettuce or millet. The bird really likes that. I do wish they were narrower at the base, though, because they bend the wire a bit, more than should be necessary for a secure fit. I added a rope perch (all living things) with no problem. One design feature that is not so great is that there are no perches below the level of the bars, so birds have to be willing to jump directly to the seed and water dishes. PetSmart carries the perfect solution: a movable perch with hooks that lets it hang down about 4 inches and out about 3 inches. Two of them fit perfectly on one side, giving the bird a walking path from one dish to the other. A short ladder might work too. The twin doors that open either in or out are nice too. I usually open one in (it stays flat like a platform for the bird) and one out (wish it stayed flat, but it droops down). Having a flat top also works well for the bird when it is out flying around. You can make it a playground. There is some discussion about the size: for some reason Amazon gives the box dimensions. The actual cage is 22 x 12 at the top, 24.5 x 15 at the base, and 20.5 inches tall. It looks really big and fits lots of toys. Or if you are keeping finches, there is room to flit back and forth, but I would get a L01 (the longer one) for them since you probably don't let them out. It was no problem to assemble, but take your time and pay attention to the instructions. The vertical bars need to face out to fit in some slots in the plastic parts. Using the little clips to pinch the corners together (the last step) is important to make sure a nosy little bird can't get his head stuck.

It’s been a week since we got this cage and it’s absolutely perfect for my baby bird! So spacious and gives him plenty of room to play. The color matches him beautifully, which I love, and he seems really happy in it. The cage is very well designed, and cleaning it is super easy, which makes a big difference day to day. I've owned many bird cages and this one is hands down the best. Easy to assemble (and I'm not adept at assembly, so much appreciated). I'll add pics later, but what I most want to share is the fact that I bought the kit that lets you stack two cages, and adjoined two tall ones to make a super-tall cage: Vision L-shaped Corner Replacement for Vision S02/M02/M12/L02/L12 Bird Cages. I assure you the resulting cage is sturdy, fantastic. A pet peeve of mine is all the misinformation that abounds on the internet. One is that birds (finches, in particular) prefer wide horizontal cages and dislike tall ones. Not so. My society finches absolutely LOVE their new super-tall cage, take great delight in dive-bombing up and down. The cage, even doubled, has a small footprint (fits in my motorhome for trips) and is extremely lightweight and easy to move, so I can take them outside, to sun, etc. I wrote an informal book years ago about keeping happy, healthy birds (My Life with Birds, or, How To Make Birds Very Happy) and I need to incorporate the fact that as the manufacturer emphasizes, the horizontal rather than vertical bars/rails/slats allows birds maximum "control", options- they can alight anywhere within the cage. They love it! My birds aren't confined to their cage (that is, the doors are left open)- they return to it to roost and sleep, or if they get nervous or frightened. I have an old three-legged cat who happens not to be a hunter, is no danger to them, but if he gets too close they can fly into their cage. Another advantage to having a tall cage is that I can have upper doors open, lower doors closed- the birds feel safe up high. I cover the top of the cage at night. I also added a wide-spectrum LED light: iPower Multi-Spectrum LED Grow Light for Plant Growth and Flowering,12W,6 Red and 12 White LEDs, Waterproof IP65, (630 ~ 660nm Red, 430 ~ 460nm Blue) with Clamp Lamp Socket Combo- I have it sitting on the top of the cage and it produces the most wonderful light- bright but not too bright and essential for their health (and also keeps growing heads of butter lettuce in water and containers of wheat grass alive for a LONG time- the birds consume them before they have the chance to expire, saving $). Highest recommendation on these tall Vision cages- extremely well-designed and engineered.

I chose the Medium Vision Bird Cage for my new budgie and couldn't be happier! It's sturdy and very well made. Extremely easy to clean and decorate. I love the nice sized doors. They swing down from the top, unlike the dangerous guillotine style. The front doors also swing in to provide a platform for out of the cage time. The plastic closures are nicely designed and well made. I've seen some people complaining about the lack of a pull out tray. If that is what you prefer, this cage is not for you. However, I much prefer the lift off design of this cage, personally. When it's time to clean, you just lift the cage off it's base, bird still inside, and set it aside. You are then able to do a very thorough cleaning of the bottom of the cage and the grate. With a slide out tray, there is often lots of feathers, dust and droppings that hide on the tray track and can be hard to get to. It really comes down to personal preference. The bottom plastic really does help to contain the mess. Very little makes it outside this cage. The feeders at the bottom are a large part of this, but that's actually good for budgies, as they are natural ground feeders. My guy has no issue at all with eating down there. If your bird is used to eating at the top of the cage, I suppose this might be a minor issue. The little plastic sills that clip over the feed and water areas work well to keep droppings from fouling the food and water. The openings make it easy to change food and water from the outside. If you bird is heavily clipped you may need to run a ladder from the bottom of the cage to the side, but that's no big deal. My guy clipped for training and he has no problem flying up from the bottom to the wire, but his is not a severe clip. The size is nice, though I would not use a small, even for a single budgie. The issue isn't so much the length as the width. This is narrower inside than might be ideal, though it is still plenty wide enough for a full wing stretch. It was only the fact that it's not deeper, front to back, that prevented me from giving this cage 5 stars. ETA: You will want to replace the plastic perches, but that's true of almost all new cages.
