  • Fast and Fabulous. Works well once it's up and running.
I have the printer setup and printing to my satisfaction. The print quality is resonable despite needing print as an image vs text (see printer settings / preferences). I am sure there is some scaling going on with the document/website (custom receipts) that give just a slight distortion in the text... VERY minimal... I'm sure changing to a more select defined font will help with that... perhaps there is a better setting than the configuration I am using, but overall this is very minimal and the print is very fast and fairly clean and legible... Doing small fonts and graphics is probably not the ideal thing to print on this printer... I've noticed if you do print some graphics, it could get washed out significantly enough to where you can't see what the image is, or if there is even an image there. If you are using images, I was told that you have to convert to like 1bit imaging to get the image quality to look better. I've not ventured down this path yet. I have not used this on any popular POS software yet, but I can assume the print quality is on par with what I am getting, and possibly better. My use for this thing is to print tickets/receipts via my prototype project that generates trackable service and QR codes. So far this printer is very legit! CONS: The means to obtaining the functional drivers are questionable and somewhat "back alley" feeling. Though everything came through clean and functional, it could be a better experience of distribution though. VIrus scan said it was clean... it looks clean, but very much in Chinese (if that matters). This is a very compatible machine, but you do have to get the drivers, as Window 10 did not "plug and play" this printer. There was ONE time that the cutter mechanism after a print got funky and only made a "click" noise after the print was done... Also my OS got into a funk that kept sending a failed print (retry) to the printer, and kept printing copies with the failed cutting click... I pulled the power plug from the printer and plugged it back in... USB was still attached. The prints continued (this was an issue with the OS print manager sending print retries). I cancelled that print job and all was fine. Restarted the printer (another power cycle). After this the printer was back to normal, cutting function was restored to normal cutting. All was well... This more than likely was not the printer's fault, but the OS and the settings I was playing with.... Now I have things printing properly with what I am doing, and this is a solid, very fast printer! ... show more

  • Great thermal printer offered at incredible value
This 80mm POS receipt printer includes about 3ft of thermal paper enough to run a couple of self-tests, assuming you don't really have trouble with it. I set it up on Windows and it works fine after downloading the driver from what I hope don't turn out to be a malware site. Moving forward, the print quality is excellent and boasts incredibly fast printing speed. It also has an auto-cutter so you can just give it a quick tuck for dispensing afterwards. The printer itself is pretty lightweight without any roll of receipt paper. You can also configure it as a network printer but that takes a bit more effort on the user's part to get that recognized within your network. But again, it should be relatively easier if you're using a Windows ecosystem. It is capable of printing virtually all language characters if that's a concern. I deducted a point as the instructions manual appears to be quite dated and not applicable at times as a result. The screenshots on the manual is from Windows XP or Vista, for Pete's sakes. To conclude, the quality and speed of the printer can be summed up as excellent. It's also offered at a great price point at the time of writing so I'll add value to its list of strengths as elaborated thus far. 4 out of 5 stars. ... show more

  • Works great. Very fast! Short cords. Does not handle greyscale well.
This is a nice thermal printer. It is amazingly fast! I've never seen a printer work so quickly. It's also easy to use. The paper just drops in - there is no complicated loading sequence. The print quality is excellent as well, as long as you are content with black and white because it does not handle grey scale well at all. Downloading the driver for Windows was a bit strange - the website they give comes back with a "404 - not found" error, yet the driver mysteriously starts downloading. Both the power cord and the USB cable are very short (I'd say maybe 2 feet long) so if you want to use it for anything other than right next to the register, you will need an AC extension cord and a longer USB cable. Overall, it is a very good POS printer, but not good for many other uses. Five stars. Pros: * Compact. * Lightning fast. * Easy to use. * Excellent print quality. * Has keyhole slots for wall mounting. * Works with Windows OS. * Comes with a sample of thermal paper. Cons: * Downloading the drivers is a bit hinky. * Very short power cord and USB cable. * Does not handle greyscale images well - only black and white. ... show more

  • Difficult to setup and configure
This printer is nice on the hardware level but on the software level, it leaves a lot to be desired. Pros: - Great print quality - Great feature set on the hardware - Great price point for an entry-level receipt printer Cons: - Manual is severely lacking in substance - Website to download drivers gives numerous errors (eg. timeouts, SSL errors and slow) and you get a RAR archive if you get it to work - RAR archive contains multiple programs with folder hierarchy to hint at functionality but no real direction or guidance - You will likely waste the small roll of receipt paper in configuring and testing the printer My advice, unless and until they improve the quality of the manual and the delivery of the required software, would be to consider alternatives. ... show more
