  • Good stuff just a little price and it is big

  • Good vendor
I got this used and was worried it wouldn't work. Everything was as the vendor said and it is working fine.

  • Looks cool, pretty fast wifi
Wifi range is good, more than enough for my 1500 sq ft home. It is lacking though in some security settings and there is no way for the owner to update the firmware. They'll tell you your cable company will update it, but they will not because you own it. So, you end up with, in my case a very old and vulnerable firmware for the life of the device. Next time, I'll do a cable modem with a separate router, not Netgear so I can get patches, or at least something that I can put tomato on. ... show more

  • Huge
This thing is physically massive. Setup was quick and easy, just plug everything in, set it up with the cable company, and set up your passwords. Appears well built as well, doesn't run too hot Wifi signal is extremely strong, I'm getting 5 bars and at least 200 mbit/s throughout the house. It also starts and reboots more quickly than my old modem. The status lights are EXTREMELY bright. You wouldn't want to use this in a bedroom, the lights would keep you awake all night. Also, the "wall wart" power supply is large and oddly shaped. It works well for a plugstrip but is not the best for plugging straight into an outlet ... show more

  • Ring Doorbell, and Chime, Circle by Disney, and Chromecast Ultra
Now, I should probably start off this review with details like the ease of set-up and the speed of the WiFi, or how awesome our devices work now. I won't bother. Someone else will do that. The sole purpose of this post is to answer questions you may have about the Ring Doorbell or the Chime (the Ring accessory), Circle by Disney, and Chromecast Ultra. I had one rough road trying to navigate this myself, so I want to save you time by helping you navigate these details. Ring Doorbell or the Chime. When you get into routerlogin.net, choose the lower menu option that lets you set up a Guest Network. Now, any device that does not attach to the original two options can successfully attach via the Guest Network. You may choose a password for this, one of the bubbles that is not "None" under Security Options. Set your own password. Save this update. That next screen will tell you to wait forever and nothing will happen. Wait for the progress band to get to the end. Wait just a pinch longer. Then, logout. You can verify that the updates have taken effect when you login using that network option. Circle by Disney. Put un-monitored devices into the Unmanaged Devices category (solar equipment, sprinkler system, for example). Make sure that all monitored devices are in the 2.5GHz channel (child A, child B, etc.). Televisions and Roku devices will work perfectly in the 5GHz channel. Anything that isn't pairing splendidly, have it on the 2.5GHz Guest channel. Chromecast Ultra. The Chromecast Ultra needs to function on the 2.5GHz GUEST network and be sure that it is "discoverable" by other devices. You'll find the box to tick in the routerlogin.net user portal. Use the Guest menu on the left. NOW...this may cause your Ring Chime to stop working because it doesn't like that added bit. So, if the Chromecast Ultra is a device you only use some of the time, maybe the doorbell chime can just not work for that small window of time. Then return that Guest channel back to normal (untick the box that says that devices can discover each other). Or, find another casting alternative like Apple TV. In short, recommend this project. ... show more

  • 3200sq feet home seems to perform well so far
So far so good. Wi-Fi signal seems to be great. I have cable America and pay for 1GB service. Getting 400-600 thru Wi-Fi and pulling 600+ thru hardwire. Our house is 3200 sq feet with basement and I’m getting 120mbps in the basement thru wifi UPDATE: 2 months in still running strong. Pulling 600+ thru Wi-Fi now. • When it works, it's a good product with poor support
I bought this for use in a 1300 square foot home. It worked very well out of the box - easy to set up, easy to use. About a month after the 90 day warranty ended, it failed. Hours were spent with Tech Support on the phone and I had to buy a 2 year contract for service. But they got it fixed. About 16 months after purchase, it developed problems - dropping connection, much slower. I called and waited on hold for 30 minutes, then spent an hour. I was told they'd call back in an hour - they didn't. I called them, and another long hold. This support person had a completely different plan than the first, and we did that. In the process, we determined that I had 330 mbps coming in, and 300+ mbps coming out thru the ethernet cable. Wireless was giving me about 25 mbps. Power cycling the C7800 resolves the lost connection. Changing connection isn't involved. No matter - the support person said it was an internet service provider (ISP) issue. I disagreed, he insisted. ISP support agreed with me. Problem happened again an hour later. I reopened Netgear problem and described issue. I was a computer technical hardware and software troubleshooter - and a good one - for years. I understand how to describe problems and how to read FAQs and technical advice. Netgear sent me a list of 20 articles, on topics such as "How to change my password". No offer of assistance. Clearly a list they send everyone who sends them a problem by their online 'email' type system. I offered to write them an appropriate review. Now I'll consider what to do about the C7800 which isn't heavy enough to be a boat anchor. I don't have a boat anyway. ... show more
