We were inspired to get a Nespresso machine after having one in our hotel room on a recent vacation and thoroughly enjoying it. We're very pleased with this model! First of all, I love that you can move the water compartment to be on the left, right, straight back, or anywhere in between, to make it easy to access based on your kitchen layout. The machine is attractive, despite being plastic, and comes with a cup shelf that can be put in three different height positions depending on what size cup you want to use, allowing you to just as easily brew straight into an espresso cup as into an insulated tumbler if you want to take your coffee to go. It comes with a starter kit with a bunch of capsules of various brew capacities, including espresso, double espresso, lungo, and cafe. Each has a barcode under the lip so the machine automatically knows how much water to use. If you consistently want any cup sizes to have a different amount of water than the default, you can change the setting for that specific size in the app. In the app, you can also adjust the water temperature if you want you coffee to be hotter or cooler, but we left that at the default. After brewing, you open the lid and the capsule drops down into a drawer compartment below. The different brew sizes have different depths of capsules, but the compartment can hold quite a few before needing to be emptied (I counted once and can't remember how many it was but roughly 8-12 capsules). Some other reviewers mentioned some coffee accumulating in this drawer, but not only is that an expected behavior outlined in the manual but it also isn't an issue. When you pull out the drawer to remove the collection of used capsules, there's a spout built in the drawer to easily pour this minimal amount of liquid into the sink. I love that you can get a free recycling bag from Nespresso to mail in your used capsules for recycling, but this service is (predictably) not offered in Alaska or Hawaii. I love that the pods are made of aluminum and not plastic as I try to avoid plastic as much as possible. At this point we've probably gone through about 40 capsules and the machine has worked reliably every time. It somehow is magically preheated at all times, so when you put in a capsule your coffee is ready within seconds. When we went out of town for an extended period, there was a series of button presses that allows you to empty the pipes fully of water to prevent water from just sitting in the machine if not in use (there's also an option for this in the app if you choose to use the app). Overall, this is an excellent Nespresso machine! We couldn't be happier with it (except if they shipped their recycling bags to all 50 states)!

The Virtuo Up machine has new features such as WIFI connection but no longer makes a good espresso. In addition it is noisier than other models . The spent capsules chamber gets messy. I have been an espresso enthusiast for many decades. I return the machine and now searching for a replacement which makes as good an espresso as my Nespresso CITIZ . Unfortunately I cannot find this model anymore.

This is my third Nespresso Vertuo machine. Previously, I've owned numerous Nespresso original pods machines. Thus far, this is my favorite. I really like the sleek design. The fact that the much larger water tank swivels so it can be placed behind or on either side of the machine. Although a low and compact machine, it still accommodates larger/taller coffee mugs. Also, in comparison to the Vertuo Pop and Vertuo Next machines, its sleeker, quieter, holds more water (less refills between uses) and I prefer the locking mechanism. Whereas the Next and POP require you to place the pod, cover with the lid and slide a lock from right to left. The Vertuo Up is more similar to the original pop machines where you simply lift, place pod, and then lower the flap til you hear it click in place. Also, the used pods bucket simply slides out the front and, in my opinion, is much easier to access and holds more pods in comparison to the POP and Next. I've included some side-by-side pictures with the Vertuo Next. Though the Next is taller, the Up accommodates tall mugs and cups as easily as the other. The Ups water reservoir is larger. The Ups used pod bin is larger. Yet the machine looks more compact. It's definitely longer, but by having the option to swivel the water reservoir from side to side, it doesn't have to stay longer. I prefer the Vertuo Up by far. The only con would be that it has multiple buttons. Whereas the Next and Pop just have the one machine to turn on and brew, the Up also has barista creation button which I've yet to master. That said, you can easily operate by using just the brew/on button like the other machines.

This is our first experience with a Nespresso machine and so far, we haven’t experienced the problems that other people have. I put a paper towel in the bottom of the used container receptacle and so far, no leaking and no water residue on the paper towel. I’ve checked at the end of every day and have seen no evidence of leaking/overflow. From turning on the machine, to putting in the pod, to the brewing of the beverage, the average time is 30 seconds and I can’t complain about that. There’s a wireless app that you can download and then adjust certain coffee settings, from temperature to strength and the app also has recipes, which I’ve found helpful. I really like that the machine will auto-turn off after a few minutes of non-use. The biggest detriment I can see is the cost of the cups and that you can’t get them from a lot of different companies, but that has nothing to do with the unit itself. It’s easy to use, we have gotten good tasting coffee out of it and it feels solidly built to make coffee in 3 minutes or less. So far, so good. It doesn't take a lot of room on our counter and I like that you can manuever the water tank to multiple positions to fit your space. I recommend this coffee and espresso maker.

Coffee brewing is great, WiFi does not finish registering the machine and into the app. I see it in my Bluetooth and on my home network, but can't control it from the app. Support says it’s a server side issue Was offered a $15 Nespresso credit. Frustrating Probably will return

This is my first pod coffee maker machine. I have used other types at other peoples houses before so I kind of knew what to expect. This machine far surpassed my expectations. The quality of the materials is much nicer in person. The machine is solid. It is easy to refill the water. It came with a good assortment of sample pods to try which really helped narrow down which ones I wanted to order. The foam on top makes it feel like you just got a coffee shop espresso. I did download the app but I haven’t found it to be very impressive so I haven’t used it much. It allows you to adjust for hotter and colder infusions or more or less water but it’s not specific. So you can’t say you want your 7.7 ounces to instead brew 12 ounces or 9 ounces, it’s just slightly more. I like a larger cup so I just brew the same pod twice to get a large mug amount from a 7.7 ounce pod and it’s a little weaker. The only pods are from Nespresso and Starbucks so you are stuck with limited options and set prices which is the only bummer. I tried the YouTube hacks that show you how to refill the pods with your own coffee to keep the price down and it is possible. The coffee quality is not as reliable and it is a time consuming task but then you can use the coffee of your choice. Overall I love this little corner at home coffee bar.

I am an avid nespresso user, although I have only used my Original Line machine up until now. I drink lattes or espresso shots, but my husband loves more traditional drip coffee. So this is something we have considered for awhile now. I am impressed with the coffee it makes. The mug sized pods produce a lovely smooth cup of coffee with that beautiful foam on top. So much better than drip, and a better balance than the Americano I made for him before. You can make a variety of sized coffees with this machine, although most of that is decided from the pods themselves. The sample pack of pods was super helpful to get to try and learn the machine. I am a fan of the double espresso, my husband prefers the mug (7.8 oz) pods. No surprise there. There is an app on your phone where you can make adjustments to the automatic reads on the pods. You can make a pull shorter or longer, and the temp hotter or cooler. For example, on the mug size, you can choose a 6.4oz pull, or a 9.1oz pull, instead of the 7.8 that is standard. The double espresso ranges from 2 Oz to 3 Oz or so, and so on for each pod. The instructuons warn that the best flavor comes from the standard, but I appreciate the flexibility. The pods are more expensive than the original line, but I find that I use one mug sized pod instead of 2 shots of espresso for me, so its less expensive overall. And as I said, the smoothness and taste of the coffee is excellent. The machine is a little bigger than my old one, but still nice and compact. The water tank has multiple placement options so it can fit into different spaces. The buttons are simple and straight forward, and the lines are clean. It does make a bit of noise when brewing, but that is normal to me. We joke that it sounds a little like an airplane taking off. But its our fancy coffee house noises.
