  • Very Nice Espresso Maker - Sleek, Stylish, & Fast Very Nice Espresso Maker - Sleek, Stylish, & Fast
I’ve tested and owned a lot of coffee makers over the years, ranging from basic drip machines to other multi-function coffee K-cup systems and even a nice espresso-style machine that grinds whole beans and can do lattes, cappuccinos, and espresso-style drinks, but this Nespresso Vertuo Up genuinely feels like a different category of coffee experience altogether. The machine itself is sleek, compact, surprisingly upscale-looking in person, and heats up incredibly fast - I timed it at only a few seconds from power-on to ready-to-brew. Setup was honestly a little overwhelming at first because the included instructions are this hilarious multilingual mix of English, French, Spanish marked “MX,” and what I’m pretty sure was Hebrew, but the QR-code video tutorials made the process much easier once I stopped laughing at the oddly dramatic background music. What impressed me immediately is how beautiful the actual coffee looks coming out of this thing. The crema layer is thick, silky, and café-quality looking even on larger coffee pods, and the included starter variety pack was actually helpful for learning the different pod styles and strengths instead of just throwing random capsules at you. I started with the Melozio coffee pod, and while it was a touch more bitter than the whole beans I normally use in my espresso machine setup, the flavor still tasted very smooth, rich, and far more premium than standard K-cup coffee. I also quickly learned that these larger Vertuo coffee pods contain a LOT more caffeine than my usual K-cups, which definitely got my attention in a very “okay wow this thing means business” kind of way. The machine itself operates more quietly than I expected too - I measured roughly 60 dB standing about three feet away while brewing, which is completely reasonable for a pod system using Nespresso’s spinning Centrifusion brewing process. I probably will not use the included Aeroccino frother very much personally because I tend to use flavored creamers and half-and-half mixtures that work better in my whole bean espresso machine’s frothing system, but it’s still a nice inclusion for people who primarily use regular milk or milk alternatives. It’s also very easy to empty and clean the pod catching bin, which is nice since I don’t have to spend time using and then cleaning a knock box full of pucks. Overall, this feels less like a basic pod coffee maker and more like a compact little “Italian espresso stallion” for quick café-style drinks at home, and after only about a month of using it, I completely understand why Nespresso has such a loyal following. I’m hooked and have been using this several times a week while my big espresso machine is slowly gathering dust. ... show more

  • excellent customer service if you encounter a problem excellent customer service if you encounter a problem
I've been using my original Nespresso Pixie since 2011 and have become a long-time Nespresso fan/customer. I've owned a couple of machines (all still in use) and have gifted Nespresso machines to others so when I visit family, they can always provide me with the coffee I like. It was a no-brainer to try this Vertuo Up machine, which is much larger than my little Pixie. Unfortunately, my Vertuo Up did not work straight out of the box, which was the first time I've experienced an issue with a Nespresso machine. I called their customer support, and I cannot believe how patient, thorough, and responsive their representative was. Ultimately, I had received a defective unit, but I received a replacement in two days, and the replacement works flawlessly. As for overall performance, I love how fast the Up dispenses my coffee in comparison to my other machines. I also find it to be considerably quieter than the Pixie. This is a huge, much appreciated improvement. And while the device is bigger than my Pixie, it takes up less counter space than I would expect. The water reservoir can be positioned either to the left or right, which is of great convenience. My machine also came with an Aeroccino to froth milk. This is not something I use daily, but it is nice to have and easy to store. It also comes with a variety pack of pods to try, and some are for special coffee drinks. I appreciate that the sample pack has suggestions of other flavors to try if you like one of the samples. I know this is a pricey machine, but it is much more affordable than a fancy espresso maker. I find it user-friendly, and it makes an outstanding cup of coffee. Because I've had other Nespresso machines for 15+ years, I am confident this will last, making it worth every penny. And this is the first time I've had to rely on Nespresso's tech support, and it is reassuring to know they are responsive and customer-focused. What's not to love? ... show more

  • Reliable as always, with a smart space-saving reservoir.
My wife and I have owned a Nespresso Vertuo for several years, and our previous model has easily made over 2,000 cups of coffee. We had no pressing reason to upgrade, but knowing the longevity and reliability of Nespresso products, we decided to give this new model a try.The standout new feature on this version is the rotatable water reservoir. You can leave it in the rear as depicted in the stock photos, or rotate it to the left or right side of the machine. I really appreciate this functionality because it shortens the overall depth of the device, keeping it from protruding as far from the wall on the counter. The build quality remains high, right down to the heavy-duty, 3-prong power cable. Honestly, the toughest part of setting up this machine is trying to conceal that power cable, as it is incredibly dense and difficult to bend and hide.As a quick tip for anyone new to these machines: don't forget to descale occasionally to increase the lifespan of the product. If your portion sizes begin to decrease or the flow seems slow, it's time to descale. Overall, a fantastic machine. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ (5 stars) – The product delivers what I realistically expect at its price. It does the job it claims to do, with no meaningful issues. This includes inexpensive or “budget” items. A $15 item that performs like a $15 item can still be 5 stars, because it is good value for the cost. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ (4 stars) – Generally solid, but with a small flaw, missing feature, or slightly weaker value than it should have for the price. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ (3 stars) – Average. Works, but either the quality feels cheap for the cost, or the design/fit/finish is just okay. Usable, but not impressive. ⭐ ⭐ (2 stars) – Below expectations. It technically functions but has notable problems, durability concerns, or is overpriced for what you get. ⭐ (1 star) – Does not perform its basic job, arrived defective, broke immediately, or is so badly designed that I would not recommend buying it even at a discount. In short: I don’t rate based on “Is this the nicest version of this product I’ve ever seen?” I rate based on “Does this product deliver fair value for the price it’s sold at?” ... show more

  • Exceptional Espresso and Versatility at Home and a A Big Upgrade.
I’ve been a loyal Nespresso customer since the days of the original Citiz machine, when you basically had just two size options and called it a day and have upgraded machines over the years. Fast forward to today, and the Nespresso Vertuo Up by Breville feels like a serious evolution in both performance and flexibility. The espresso it produces is richer, more balanced, and has a better crema—thick, smooth, and long-lasting—just an overall more refined cup. If you’re on the fence, this one absolutely delivers a better espresso experience. One of my favorite upgrades is the versatility. The ability to brew multiple cup sizes is a game changer depending on what I’m in the mood for—whether it’s a quick espresso shot, a double, or a full cup of coffee to start the day. The machine reads the pods seamlessly and adjusts brewing parameters automatically, which takes all the guesswork out and consistently delivers great results. The included Aeroccino is another standout feature. It produces impressively smooth, creamy milk foam—hot or cold—in seconds. It’s perfect for lattes and cappuccinos, and really elevates the at-home coffee experience without needing a separate steam wand or complicated setup. I also appreciate the overall design and usability. It has a clean, modern look in the Ink Black finish that fits well on the counter without taking up too much space. The water reservoir is easy to remove and refill, and the pod ejection system is smooth and mess-free. It heats up quickly, which is a big plus during busy mornings, and it’s noticeably quieter than I expected. Another thing worth mentioning is consistency. Cup after cup, the quality is there—no dialing in, no wasted pods. That reliability is a big reason I’ve stuck with Nespresso over the years, and this machine continues that tradition while improving on it. Overall, this machine shows how far Nespresso has come. From my first Citiz to now, including the Vertuo Pop and Vertuo Next, the added features, improved brewing quality, and flexibility make this feel like a true upgrade in every way. I’m genuinely excited to keep using it and dialing in great espresso and coffee right from my kitchen. If you’re upgrading from a Vertuo Pop or even an older model, you’ll immediately notice the difference. ... show more

  • Better Than I Expected, With a Few Annoyances Better Than I Expected, With a Few Annoyances
I will be upfront: pod machines are not my thing. I have an actual espresso machine and if I had not received this promotionally I probably never would have picked one up. So take this review as coming from someone who went in skeptical and came out genuinely surprised. The shots it pulls are better than I expected. Not better than what I pull on my own machine, and I would not pretend otherwise, but it was surprising. When I need to get out the door quickly and still want something resembling a real shot, this earns its place on the counter. It is genuinely fast and the whole operation is one touch. You load the pod, you press a button, and you walk away. No wrong settings, no ruined pods, no thinking required. Whether that is standard across all pod machines I cannot say, but it is a nice feature regardless. A few other things I appreciated: the machine is quiet, compact, and the quality of life details are well thought out. When you lift the lever to load a new pod, the spent one drops cleanly into a built-in waste receptacle. Small thing, but it is the kind of detail that makes a product feel considered rather than thrown together. The included sample pods are also worth mentioning. There were genuinely good flavors in there. Now the gripes. For a $280 machine the unboxing experience is underwhelming. Premium appliances at this price usually put some thought into the packaging and this does not. That would be easy to overlook, but the real annoyance is that the included quick-start instructions are for a completely different Nespresso machine. At $280 you would expect them to get that right. It is a small thing, but the sloppiness of it is hard to ignore. This would be a 4.5 star review if Amazon allowed halves but five stars because the machine itself performed better than I expected it to. ... show more

  • Over all its a great machine, easy to use. read the instructions and watch the videos. Over all its a great machine, easy to use. read the instructions and watch the videos.
The Nespresso Vertuo Up Coffee and Espresso Maker with Aeroccino, by Breville is quite an impressive and intimidating machine when I unboxed it. There are a number of printed manuals, numerous parts, and I love the included selection of flavored pods to use with the machine. Read thru the manuals and click on the links to the provided videos before you plug it in will make the setup and use very easy. The manuals are a bit unusual as the picture on the cover does not match the look of the machine I have but the information in the manual matches my machine with one exception. The click on link to the video for "First Rinsing" is not for the machine I have and is no use. The machine is easy to use and provides the perfect brew each time. Be sure to check the size of the output brew you will get so you have the appropriate size cup. Included with my machine was a discount coupon for reorder of my next box of coffee blends, I will certainly use it as the pod selection was very good. A nice feature is the ability to return the used aluminum pods, free of charge, for recycling. The Aeroccino frothier is great, silent operation, makes perfect cool or hot froth. One feature I would like to have is a pod that I could put my own coffee in for those mornings where I just want a simple cup of coffee. I would prefer being able to manually remove the used coffee pods and not having to clean the collector box that the used pods drop into. ... show more

The coffee maker has a modern design in a matte black finish, with a smooth and even texture that gives it an elegant and understated look. Its size is practical and compact, making it a good fit for countertops without taking up too much space. It feels stable with a well balanced weight that reflects solid construction. In terms of materials, the main body combines good quality plastic with well finished metal components. The front drip tray has a sturdy metallic finish and is height adjustable, making it easy to adapt to different cup or glass sizes, which is very practical for daily use. • Great looking machine that brews awesome coffee. So easy to use and easy cleanup. Great looking machine that brews awesome coffee. So easy to use and easy cleanup.
The Nespresso Virtuo Up machine is sleek and handsome in appearance. The minimalist design features a cup holder that can be positioned to fit the height of your vessel. Yes, the brewing capacity ranges from demitasse to carafe and several sizes in between. The package includes a 12 pod sleeve of coffes for you to try. Using the machine is as easy as can be: you raise the lever on the top of the machine, drop your pod in the slot provided, and press the brew button. A low hum tells you it's working. That hum increases in amplitude as the machine spins the coffee pod to ensure maximum concentration. The coffee brews with a thick crema on top. It's delicious. You get a smooth tasting brew with an unexpected mellowness. If the coffee isn't hot enough, or it's too hot, the brew temperatue can be adjusted on the downloadable app. Nespresso pods can prove to be expensive but you can refill the pods and reuse them successfully. Kits to do this are available elsewhere and on Amazon. They save money, environmental impact, and allow you to use your favorite grounds to make your own custom coffee. The machine has a reservoir that can be adjusted through 180 degrees to suit your preferences. There is a hidden compartment to collect used pods and the unit provides controls for descaling and flushing the system. This Vertuo machine works very well and produces a pleasnt coffee at any time of the day. Included in the package is a Nespresso milk frother. Simply fill as instructed, froth and pour. Need an iced latte? done. Need something exotic? Done. A formidable machine that does a great job at brewing great coffee....with very little effort on your part. Highly recommended ... show more
