    • Nice, compact, and relatively inexpensive espresso machine
My wife and I are not really espresso drinkers but given the opportunity to review this Nespresso Pixie expresso machine, we decided to try it as soon as we received it, and we were not disappointed. The machine is well designed and seems solidly built – time will tell. Initially, I thought that it had only two settings – espresso (25 – 30 mL) and lungo (60 – 90 mL) but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the user can program the machine for their own personal tastes by simply holding down either the espresso or lungo buttons until the machine dispenses the desired volume (hence, strength). The machine then “remembers” the programmed settings for future use. I also like the fact that Nespresso recycles the capsules by separating the aluminum (which can be used wherever aluminum is required) and coffee grounds which are used for compost. The machine was shipped with seven trial capsules. After trying them, I have no doubt that we will be ordering more capsules and trying black and milk (we do like cappuccino) varieties as well as other flavors and additives (Frangelico comes to mind given we live in Oregon, the land of hazelnuts). PROS • Nice, compact, and relatively inexpensive espresso machine. • Easy to fill plus the tank and other parts are easy to clean. • The temperature is fixed but, at least in our opinion, hot enough. • Programmable buttons to suit individual tastes. • Nespresso recycles capsules for aluminum and compost. CONS • The machine might be considered somewhat noisy but we do not consider that a problem. ... show more

    • Compact design, quick and tasty espresso!
So far, I've been loving this thing. It's small design fits great on my countertop without taking up a lot of valuable space. It's roughly 4.5" wide, 9" in height and about 12" in depth. This small design made me question how powerful it could be but I was proven wrong. This thing makes a great cup of espresso and it does so quickly. Takes about 30 seconds. It also looks very sleek and fits in perfectly with the rest of my countertop machinery. A very simple design, too... Add water to the tank, insert a pod and press a button. That's it. You get two buttons- one for espresso and one for lungo. You'll be sipping on your espresso in no time. I am very happy with my Pixie. Small, sleek and simple. I don't care to overthink all the finer details of making a cup of espresso. I know there are people who get very involved with it but that's not me. I want to press a button and have it served. This provides exactly that, and the end results have been consistently pleasant. I highly recommend it. ... show more

Nespresso is known for full body and great taste coffee already. This Pixie is my first time trying a non Kureg coffee maker. I find the coffee to be much more bold and flavorful. I hate weak coffee and this device doesn't disappoint. The device is attractive and looks impressive on my coffee station. So far it feels durable and seems like it will last. Time will tell. This small yet mighty espresso maker is extremely quick and efficient. The flavor of each cup is consistent, delicious and full of flavor. This lovely machine makes a nice addition to any kitchen and would also make a great housewarming gift.
