  • Great Shade! Great Shade!
Color: Teal
We were waiting for a second set of poles to arrive and decided to take our Neso to our local park to do a test run on it before we go to the beach later this summer. We have only ever had traditional canopies for our outdoor adventures and I have to say this was super easy to set up and use. Granted we did not fill the bags with sand(we don’t have beaches in WV), we just staked it in the ground for our test run. Setting up with stakes took all of 3 minutes to accomplish, we imagine filling the bags with natural elements like sand will take a bit longer but seems like maybe only an extra 10 minutes with 2 of us working on it at the same time. We had about 10MPH breezes rolling through and the Neso didn’t even notice the breeze. I think the only thing I would say is a con is that it doesn’t come with any type of shovel or anything to help you get natural elements into the sand bags. But that’s easily remedied if you buy a folding shovel(we will before our beach trip), it will fit easily into the bag, as the carrying bag has extra room in there. A feature I didn’t realize was there… The carrying bag has an insulated pouch to carry a cold drink or two. Which is a nice touch. All in all, the set up was easy It provided sufficient shade for our family of 4. Didn’t budge in 10MPH breeze. Got a few compliments. Easy take down. Taking down and packing up was a breeze, so much easier than a traditional canopy. We are really happy with the performance and ease of use for this product. Update: Took our Neso sun shade out for its maiden voyage on the beaches of Outer Banks. The first day within the first 2 hours both poles snapped in half. Luckily we had purchased an extra set of poles before we left for the beach. Could by user error as we had only set it up at our local park before our beach vacation where there was a small breeze. The rest of our vacation our extra set of poles kept our Neso up, so as I said the snapping of the first 2 poles could have just been user error or a manufacturing issue. Setting it up, using sand to fill the bags was a breeze, quick and almost effortless. I had mentioned thinking we would need a shovel, but I was wrong, it was easy to fill the bags by hand and probably faster than using a shovel. We also took an extra step and buried the bags in the sand, which I think helped to keep the bags stable in the high winds. Taking down, I thought we would have issues with sand wanting to stick to the bag, but again I was wrong, if you shake the bags out properly, the sand doesn’t stick in the bags. All in all we are very happy with our purchase of our Neso Sunshade. We are sad that we are back down to one set of poles as we would like to have the additional set for other applications. ... show more

  • Slick and effective in wind. Slick and effective in wind.
Color: Teal
I grew up, going to Lake Powell and Mexico to beaches where wind is always an issue, and we use pop-up shades as known throw-always after each season. I decided it was worth trying the extra money to not stress about breaking frames of pop-ups in the wind when I purchased this extra large Neso sunshade. I purchased two extra feet so that we could make it a hole for post shade. At first I was worried when I put it up because it was so wobbly but once we buried the sandbags for extra weight, it’s stretched out awesome. It moves with the wind and doesn’t grab it like a parachute like a pop-up shade. I love the color and the portability of it because it was smaller than a kids backpack. I’m a little worried about how it will hold up where the posts sit inside of the Lycra. I guess we will see how long they last. But they look amazing and they are dynamic instead of static, which I think has made a huge difference. The sun does shine a little bit through, but it also lets a little wind through, and it moves with the wind. We loved it, and it looked stylish. It was definitely taller and way bigger than any other pop-up shades that we could manage. Highly recommend after 7 days at rocky point. ... show more

  • Big disappointment
Color: Teal
I thought the idea of this large canopy was great and still do. But this product failed to provide the cover as advertised. First the sandbag idea sucks. That doesn't work unless you dig a hole in the beach and bury the sandbags. I found it easier to just get some beach umbrella augers, twist them in and tie it off. Extra time and money to come up with your own ideas to anchor the corners. Then the fabric ripped at the point of contact with the poles, the very place where you need the most strength. So the product is not very durable in the typical windy conditions at the beach. NOT excessive winds mind you. Normal beach wind. The weld between the fabric and the corner grommets all failed one by one. Had to rig rope and duct tape to salvage our beach trip. It comes with two poles for a lean-to setup. Realistically nobody is doing that on the beach so they're banging you for extra $$$ right up front by charging extra for the third and fourth pole. The goal was a large area canopy which is still the goal. But this product fails on cost, reliability, durability and ultimately it's utility value. It's very easy to take down. Just wait until the wind blows it over and pick up the pieces. ... show more

  • Great shade even in the wind Great shade even in the wind
Color: Periwinkle Blue
It makes a ton of shade. Put the legs on the side facing the wind and make sure you put tons of sand in the bags. It took a second to get used to it but it was very stable even in high winds. I took one star away for the carry bag started coming apart after the first use. The internal divider started ripping out and the front cooler pouch is falling apart literally only had my phone in there. The main part of the bag seems pretty tough but those elements aren’t or weren’t for the one we got. ... show more

  • Awesome sun protection and easy setup
Color: Seafoam
Awesome product. Super easy to setup, if you follow the instructions. Setting this up in the direction of the wind is a must. Suggestion to manufacturer, include a small wind sock to determine wind direction, as 50% of these were setup wrong on the beach this week in HHI 15-20 mph winds.

  • Fab tent but watch for tangles when washing
Color: Teal
We were using a canopy which was heavy and dragging it across the beach was nearly killing us. Before our trip I had been looking at Neso tents and had one delivered to our rented beach house. The lightweight tent worked well - easy to carry to the beach, setup was fast and easy, we did shift the poles a little when the wind direction changed, and we put plenty of sand in the bags and buried them and our tent didn’t move or fall down which did happen a couple days to other folks. I only have one complaint about this tent and it’s an easy fix. We got home and I unpacked it, the humidity at the beach made the tent smell a little which I expected and thankfully Neso made it washable so I threw it the washer. When I pulled it out of the dryer it was knotted up to all tarnation, I don’t remember anyone else saying this in reviews so maybe that was just me and dumb luck. It took about half an hour to unknot, everything was still intact so no biggie. In the future I’ll use spring clips to attach the sand bags to the corner it belongs to, Neso could also make a small mesh bag on the inside of the tent corners to hold those sandbags loosely when they are washed, might be a nice place to put lightweight objects like keys or sunglasses. I like this tent so much I’m getting a smaller one for when my BF and I go to the beach just us, looking forward to packing it in my carryon and saving significant cash on umbrella service. ... show more

  • If you can get it set up and stable, it's a great tent.
Color: Teal
After some searching, I purchased this tent, based on the positive reviews and the promise of easy set up. However, our first time out, after removing the tent, I realized it did not come with instructions. But it seemed simple enough. Unfortunately, after 3 of us trying to get it upright for quite a while, and watching a youtube video, I gave up and bought an overpriced beach umbrella from one of the cheesy beach stores. I'm not sure I have ever been more frustrated with a product. Granted, it was pretty windy that day, but I feel like that is to be expected at the beach and, I mean, the beach umbrella held up. The second day, I spent nearly 45 minutes to an hour, digging holes, adding sand, and then more sand, to the bags. Once I got the poles underneath, and it was upright, I realized the holes I had dug were useless, as I had to pull the bags out even further to keep the tent standing, and then add even more sand to the bags. Once it was upright, it was great. We heard mult people comment on how much they liked it. But, for the amount of time I had to spend to get it upright, I just feel like it wasn't worth it. I truly don't like leaving negative reviews. In fact, this is my very first. But I felt like I spent a fairly significant amount of money on this beach tent, as I was willing to do so, to get a quality, easy to set up tent. I just don't feel that is what I received. I noticed most folks purchased extra poles, but it seems that, if everyone needs to get them, to make their tent stable, then they should just be included. ... show more

  • Great beach tent loved it Great beach tent loved it
Color: Flamingos
I bought this tent for the Yucatan peninsula beaches in Mexico. It's an amazing tent. Once you get the hang of setting it up it's pretty easy and straight forward. The poles seem to wobble under the wind and I question how long they will last. What really threw me off was that I'm missing a sand bag and rope. I contacted customer service and got a quick response. I'm not state side and will have to wait a couple of months before I get the sandbag and rope but I liked the quick response and that they stand behind their products. One last thing to note is that its not a one piece as shown on their pics. Its sewn in the middle. It doesn't look bad but I think they should update their gigante pictures to note that, my wife was tripping about it. Also the stiching is not that great. It's no biggie for me I will reinforce check picture it's my first use. Update: tested it in high winds today it works like a champ! It does take a lot of adjusting! I had to really stretch the tarp and dig holes for the sand bags so they wouldn't move. The poles are on the inward edges to avoid downward flapping. I had to put pairs of poles on each corner so that the poles wouldn't break watch video. ... show more
