Second one purchased, first one burnt out after just a couple of uses, Nesco replaced. The second one purchased early 2022...It is now so rusted I fear using it. Most of the rust is around the ledge just up from the bottom of the pot. We have only used it approx. 10 times for our harvested chickens. Cleaned straight away, and dried after each use...disappointed as we love the results for roasting chicken. Can't recommend. Sorry no photo...new computer and our little nikon has no updated program. Now have to purchase a new camera. It's a racket...poor workmanship and no updates to keep you buying loop it appears. ... show more

We got this before Christmas as we always fry our turkeys but the thermistor was broken on our fryer. With the price of peanut oil going up the way it has, we decided this was a good time to try this out and the reviews were definitely encouraging. This thing was AWESOME! We live in Texas and are not that equipped for cold weather, so the ability to cook inside the house was a major bonus with the cold snap we had over Christmas weekend this year. But the turkey came out perfect, in just about 2 hours! For full disclosure, I always brine my turkey in the days leading up to cooking and then inject it before frying. But it was incredibly juicy, cooked evenly through, etc. My 6 yo who claims she "doesn't like turkey" asked for a second helping and happily ate leftovers too. Even the white meat was perfectly tender. Considering there is no need for fuel or peanut oil, this is an absolute steal! I haven't yet tried it with ribs or whole chickens, but that is on my list for sure! If you are considering changing from a propane fryer to electric, I would 100% recommend this one! ... show more

I am the best cook in the family,but I am no chef. On the holidays I make and cater the hole family feast, an the turkey is often the tricky part. THIS WORKS AS ADVERTISED! I made an 18 lb perfect turkey in 1 hr 47 minutes. SWEET! Important note : Use a leave in thermometer inserted in the turkey breast (one with an achieved temperature alert is best) in case you set the timer to long. Also important is that the drippings catch tray collects plenty of juices for making fabulous gravy, just be sure to have a large open pot or bole to pour it in to. Keep a steady hand when removing the drippings tray and go slow as the drippings are very hot and the tray tips easily. Preparation is everything with this appliance, once you push the button and cover this don't touch it until it is done ! If you were like me you will need to figure out a way to make the stuffing outside the turkey.; A hack I found is that if you are using a frozen turkey sealed in a plastic bag, cut open the bag so that it drains in to a large pot or bole. The liquid is just a mix of blood and water. Use this liquid in your stuffing recipe to add the turkey flavor and then bake or prepare it as usual. Drawbacks : It's really big! As they suggest "KEEP THE BOX AND FOAM PACKAGING" for storage. It is not something you will be leaving out year round on the kitchen counter. ... show more

The roaster works very well. Roasted large chicken and it turned our perfect. The picture is of the weld that came apart from base of stand. I will call the company for replacement. Nesco does not have a replacement. Suggested I try after the first of the year. Roasted a 15lb turkey in 90 minutes. It was great for Thanksgiving. ... show more

We did both chickens and turkey. Both were tender and delicious. So easy, and there are no moving parts. The heat turns on and off instead of rotating. We got a chicken plucker so we quit wasting so much on our chickens. I was NOT about to pluck chickens all day! Now we have awesome, home grown rotisserie chicken whenever we want. Fast, easy, very little mess. Very happy customer. The only negative is the size limitation on turkey. Next year, we are getting 2 turkeys so we can freeze more leftovers. ----------------------Update after more than 2 years This unit gets used all the time. It's the only way I do chicken anymore. If I want something with more sauce, I do it here first, then finish it in the pressure cooker for a few minutes with sauce. Four stars because, it needs tabs to keep the turkey holder from sliding off the stand and all users need to watch the drip pan when cooking if the dripping level is highit hard to remove the turkey with out spilling drippings.

Very impressed with the NESCO upright Turkey Roster. Once I got it I opened it the day before thanksgiving and noticed the drip tray upright bar was detached from the base. Knowing I could not get it fixed before thanksgiving I used it considering it should not make much of a difference in cooking. Put a 14.5 pound turkey in and in 2.5 hours it was perfect!! Crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside. Best turkey yet!! I called customer service for a replacement part “no question ask” new replacement part is on the way. Have used this to cook a 13 lb Thanksgiving Turkey which it did in a little over 1 hour as well as rib eye roast and it worked great for both. The ability for using the central element to heat the turkey from the inside seems to be an important part of speeding up the cooking of turkey. In using this for the rib eye roast with the central element turned off, functions as a good roaster oven with cooking time similar to a convection oven it seems. There was information in the directions that came with the roaster about using it for other roast which I did not think was included from earlier feedback that I sought prior to the purchase.
