I picked this up mostly for nostalgia, but I’ve honestly been using it way more than I expected. Right out of the box, it’s super easy to get into, just turn it on and start playing your favorites. The screen quality surprised me the most. It’s bright, clear, and the colors look great for a handheld this size. Controls are mostly okay. The D-pad is a little mushy, and the ABXY buttons have a good soft click to them, but there is a lot of travel to them. They are also slightly rounded squares instead of circles. Not a deal breaker at all, but just something a little out of the norm. The soccer ball button I'm still not really sure what it does. Sound has also been pretty decent for the games I've played. Feels pretty good in the hands based on the way they shaped the case, like a much more ergo dynamic OG Game Boy. I have medium hands and this is just on the edge of comfort, so if you have big hands, this probably wouldn't be very comfortable for you to use. The buttons on the back are also easy to use and have a nice solid click to them. Battery life has been pretty decent too, I can get a few solid sessions in before needing to recharge, which is perfect for travel or just killing time. Comes in a nice case and they provide you with a screen protector too, so it gives you everything you need here. If you’re into retro games or just want something simple and fun to pick up and play, this is definitely worth it. Great value for how much content you get.

I would have given a five star review if not for a flaw with the device😑. I go to save playing Final Fantasy Tactics⚔️. It saved that one time and one time only. I'm stuck REPEATING the same sequence OVER and OVER, as if my other save didn't count. [Name Squire Lv01 January 01 Magic City Gariland] I saved after reaching level two on a different slot and re-saving over the first save. Next day I go to play it... it's like my hard work didn't matter at all. 😡 Not reliable for saving. Any age group can use it. Compatibility with different generes of games 🎮. The appearance is cool 😎. In the OG FFT it had a tilt feature for better viewing, by pressing L2 or R2, this does not have that feature🤨.

I bought it with a bit of hesitation, but it honestly surprised me. The R36MAX console is small, comfortable to hold, and very easy to use. The screen looks good and the buttons respond well, which makes playing really enjoyable. I especially like that it comes with many classic games that bring back childhood memories. It’s also very practical to carry anywhere. For the price, I think it’s totally worth it, especially as a gift or just for keeping the kids (or yourself 😅) entertained. So far, it works great and the battery lasts several hours of gameplay.
