Worked perfectly on my 2005 Mercedes CLK 500. I deducted one star because there are no direction on how to assemble the item. It isn't obvious unless you have used one previously. It took me about 5 minutes to figure it out. It isn't difficult, just not obvious. The flat plate with the hole in the center slides over the handle that you will turn with your hands once you have it inserted into the caliper. It becomes a bit more obvious once you have the caliper off. If they included a paper with a picture of the assembly, I'd give it 5 stars as perfect. The tool worked flawlessly, I just think they could do a better job for the customer with a small diagram. Would I recommend the tool - yes. Would I buy it again - yes. If you don't know how to use the tool, I'm certain there are You Tube videos that will explain it. ... show more

    • Bubble flares made easy
Bought this to do ONE bubble flare on a new brake line we made for my son's F150, The 6' long line was a double flare at one end and a bubble flare on the other end. Could not find any bubble flare kits for "loan" by local parts stores. The ones offered for sale appeared to be cheap/flimsy. With Prime, this kit arrived the next day and cost less than the part store models. Works like a charm. I only needed it to make one bubble flare but never having done one before, I did a series of practice ones first. Every one a winner. We were using it on the nickle/copper 3/16" brake line we got on Amazon. Used for his truck and had zero leaks. Follow the directions, watch a couple of videos on YouTube and you'll do fine. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN! It is not necessary and my son had borrowed a double flare kit we could not use because it had been over tightened by its owner which bent and "tweaked" the tool so it was not usable at all. We were able to get a "loaner" kit at AutoZone for the double flares. This kit seems much better quality than you would expect for the price. I have no problem recommending it. I cannot speak to its durability as we only did about a dozen flares but I think if you treat it right, could last for years. P.S. This kit is metric (normal for bubble flare kits) we used it on 3/16" line which is 4.75mm. Worked GREAT! ... show more

    • Perfect for bubble flares
This tool worked great to make bubble flares for my 2012 Honda CRV. I practiced four or five times before I did the real work. I had to make one bubble flare on brake line on the car, and then two more flares on a piece of line for the repair. The tool worked great and was well worth the money.

I was pretty disappointed when I first opened the box and tried to use this tool, but with some tweaking it works fine. The first thing you need to know is that the instructions are wrong (see picture). The instructions say the die will have a recessed portion that should be your measurement for how far the brake line should protrude from the clamp. The die doesn’t have a recessed portion, and I found that the entire thickness of the base of the die is the correct measurement. Secondly, the arms of screw press are made of cast metal, and there is a casting ridge on the arms where they grab the tube clamp. This ridge needs to be filed flat, or the press will wobble to one side or the other as you tighten it down giving lopsided flares. Once I figured these two things out I can get factory-looking flares every time. The last thing is that you absolutely need to chamfer the inside and outside of the brake line before you try to flare it. I used a countersink drill bit to chamfer the inside, and a hand file to lightly chamfer the outside. If you do these things I’m sure this tool will work fine for you. ... show more
