  • Product Failure - TWICE.
I ordered this grip. The first one was "dead on arrival". It wouldn't provide power to the body at all. I requested Amazon provide another and I would return the defective product. Second one arrived -- ironically packed differently than the 1st one, which leads me to believe the first one had been returned before. The second one required a lot of torque to get the connection to work, but at least it seemed to work. Then in the middle of a shoot it started to "bug out". Power on for a few seconds and then it would drop out. Two battieries loaded. Once was 75% charged and the other closer to 100% charged. Pulled it out and continued with my shoot without the grip. This is by far the worst product I've ordered from Neewer. I'm not spending the time to send this one back for a refund. It just went in the electonics recycle bin. It would likely cost me more than what it's worth to get it to a UPS store for a return. It will cloud my perception of Neewer products, I can't have this type of failure in the middle of shooting. ... show more

  • It works fine
It appears to work just fine. No complaints. I have not compared it to the OEM accessory.

  • Works - sometimes
Bought this for my wife so she could trial the grip for a discount price. Fit and finish is great. Initial impressions were good. As time has passed and the grip has been used, the chinks in the armor have been revealed. The body of the z8 now seems to recognize a non-nikon accessory. As such, the communication between body and grip is flawed, resulting in non-power up situations (ie: turn camera on, but the menu screen shows it being off). There's plenty more challenges with this grip, but generally speaking, if you own a z8, then you're likely willing to spend the money on the OEM part rather than this. As an introduction to a camera body grip attachment (to decide if you like it), this is a fantastic option For regular shooters who need reliability, this is NOT the final grip you'll buy. After missing shots, needing to restart the camera, or...or...or... You'll end up buying the Nikon version if you like grips ... show more

  • Don't Buy This
This grip has never worked. Multiple returns and its worthless. I will never buy these grips again. Buy OEM for this part. I have spent enough time dealing with returns and missed shots that I could have purchased the OEM and been on top. Customer service has been good but good customer service does not make a product work. ... show more

  • Very meh.
Feels cheap, has issues connecting to your camera. It won't turn on unless you get it put in at exactly the right angle and pressure. Haven't really been able to use this on a shoot yet because every time I have tried to use it, it wouldn't connect properly. I would return it if I still had the box.

  • A good alternative at far less cost...
Opting for aftermarket accessories for Nikon cameras entails a certain level of risk. Yet third-party products often function just as efficiently as Nikon’s own. In this case, the Nikon original being replaced is the MB-N12 vertical battery grip. The gamble you take lies in the possibility that a Nikon firmware update could potentially reduce your product's functionality, or in rare cases, render it completely ineffective. My experience using third-party power sources with my Nikon dates back to when I first acquired my D90. Though generally pleased with third-party batteries, I learned that non-Nikon batteries caused the maximum frame speed to become inaccessible on some Nikon camera bodies. This battery pack's look and feel is indistinguishable from Nikon’s MB-N12, with identical switches and a similar rubbery grip. But note the review here that says that the grip failed during a photo shoot. If you make a living with your camera you probably want to go with bulletproof Nikon accessories, even if they cost triple the aftermarket options. ... show more
