  • We loved this little microscope!
It took a little bit of figuring out on my 4 year olds part, mainly because he had to figure out how a microscope worked first. However, he got the hang of it pretty quick. It's a fun educational little toy, and he has discovered that things look a lot different when you magnify it. So that lead to a lot of magnifying of common household items, which means a lot of carrying it around the house (and drops). Thankfully, it is made from plastic and durable, because with what it's been through, I really feel like it should have broken by now. This is a great toy for kids to encourage creativity. Worth every penny! ... show more

  • Dinosaurs + Microscope = Instant Kid Approval
Got this for a little one who is really into dinosaurs, and the dinosaur theme immediately got their attention. It's a nice introduction to using a microscope without making things too complicated or frustrating for a younger kid. They had fun looking at different things up close and figuring out what everything looked like magnified. What I like most is that it feels like a toy to them, but they're actually exploring and learning while they use it. It's easy enough for a young child to enjoy with a little help from an adult, and it gives us something fun to do together besides another screen or electronic game. Definitely a cute gift for a curious kid, especially one already going through a dinosaur phase. ... show more

  • Kid friendly microscope
I've been thinking for quite a while now about a microscope for my 4-year-old grandson. He's very inquisitive and loves to look in detail at stuff. Of course I couldn't get him a regular microscope because he would have a hard time using it and would probably break it the first day. National geographic saves the day with this cute kid friendly microscope for children 3 years and up. The lens itself is really just a magnifying glass but it gives them the idea of how to use a microscope and the purpose. The magnification is actually 5X zoom which is not bad. And it's all he needs. There's also an LED light and a focus knob. The field of view is wide and easy for children to see. The microscope itself is about 6 x 8 in tall and wide. The large knobs make it easy for the young ones to use. I can always count on national geographic toys being well made and this one didn't disappoint. Cute, bright orange dinosaur head with sturdy plastic parts and built as a one piece toy. Perfect for a 4-year-old. Looks very durable. The microscope comes with a plan and learn booklet and of course instructions on how to use it. This is perfect for a first microscope. ... show more

  • Simple, Engaging, and Perfect for Little Explorers
This Dino Scope is a great first microscope for preschoolers because the 5x magnification, wide viewing area, LED light, and large focus control keep exploration simple and frustration-free. My 7 yearold enjoyed examining leaves, coins, and small toy details, and the dinosaur theme makes it feel more like an adventure than a lesson. It is best viewed as an introductory STEM toy rather than a true specimen microscope, so expectations should stay focused on larger everyday objects. Overall, it is a well-designed, hands on gift for encouraging curiosity and screen free science play. ... show more

  • Fun and easy to use
This is so cute! And very easy to use. My nephews and niece had so much fun with it (ages 3-7). We started out looking at fingerprints and nails, string, paper, and other objects around the house. Then we went outside and gathered rocks, grass, and various leaves and plants. The dual eye piece is perfect for little kids because it is so much easier for them to see. The eye pieces were also nice and wide so they didn’t have to move too much to find the right spot. The light is great but it dimmed very quickly. We used it for about an hour or so and it was getting too dim. I think $20 would be a perfect price point and good value for this but at $28, it isn’t that high either. Other than the light dimming quickly, it seems sturdy and good quality. This would make an excellent gift for any young child. I love that they can use it all by themselves without help, so they are in control of their exploration. ... show more

  • Kids love it!
I got this for a child who is really curious, and it has been such a fun way to make everyday things more interesting. The dinosaur design immediately caught their attention, and they were excited to start using it. I like that it is simple enough for little hands to adjust the focus without getting frustrated. The 5x magnification and built-in light make it easy to look at things like leaves, rocks, fabric, and even little pieces of dirt. It is honestly fun watching a child get excited about something they would normally walk right past. The activity booklet is also a nice bonus because it gives them ideas instead of leaving them wondering what to look at. I especially like that it feels more like a toy than a lesson, while still encouraging observation and early science skills. This would make a great birthday or holiday gift for a young child who loves dinosaurs, exploring, or asking a million questions. Overall, it is a cute, hands-on toy that turns simple things around the house or outside into little science discoveries. ... show more

  • Cute appearance - great for seeing details up close
The appearance of this toy is very appealing to children of all ages. The bright orange dinosaur has a cute friendly face that makes my son smile. The size was perfect for my toddler. My son is 3.5 years old and it is age appropriate. This toy has been a great way to teach my son about the basics of using a microscope. There is a knob that rotates in a circular direction to zoom in and out of small objects. There is a limited amount of space under the scope so the objects being displayed need to be small. There is a light that can be turned on/off with a simple switch function. The light is not very bright, but it does help illuminate objects a bit more. The lens allows us to see more details of the given subject much closer and detailed than the naked eye allows us to see. The product is engaging and he seems to have fun inspecting different items. The current price of $27.99 seems like a good value for the money. ... show more

  • Perfect for the budding scientist
I got this for my three year old daughter and she absolutely loves it! Not only does she love dinosaurs but she loves magnifying things and looking through the microscope I like that there are two eye holes so I don't have to try to teach her how to close one eye at a time when she is still physically incapable of such a thing. This is a great gift for any kid who wants to look a little closer at their world. ... show more
