First off, we are very pleased with the quality of the stools we ordered. One of the stools I ordered seemed a bit unsteady after assembly. I contacted Nathan's and the response was exceptional. We were immediately shipped another stool, follow up from Nathan's throughout and now are all set with very nice stools. Nathan's response times throughout the process were excellent. They even followed up with a gift of chocolate shipped to my home (please don't spend that kind of shipping). But, it was appreciated. I would suggest sending a coupon for further purchases which would be a win-win and not cost Nathan's expenses of that nature. I wanted to wait few months to post an honest review for this bar stool. I liked this bar stool because of its appearance, cushion for comfort and sturdiness. I gave it a 4 stars because their joints started to get loosen up in couple months so I had to tighten it over period of time.

I have bought and returned several other stools, and initially this seemed better by comparison: the specs are as advertised (so I finally found one with the right height), and itโ€™s comfortable and reasonably attractive. Assembly was as expected until the last step โ€” putting in the secondary screws to stabilize the footrest bars. There are eight of these smaller screws, to match the eight pre-drilled holes, but only two grabbed properly and stayed in. The others spun around in holes that were slightly too big. When I righted the stool, they fell out. I didnโ€™t want to deal with disassembling the thing and shipping it back, so I tried to jerry-rig it by jamming rolled-up black electrical tape over the screw heads and sealing them in with more tape. What a slovenly solution and disappointing experience. Iโ€™ve come to dread these DIY assemblies that inevitably suffer from poorly engineered parts. How hard is it to drill a properly sized hole for a screw?? UPDATE: After notifying the company of the problem, I received a prompt and gracious response resolving the issue. This is rare under any circumstances but particularly (in my experience) with Amazon vendors. If I have to order similar products again, I will seek out this company rather than take my chances elsewhere. ... show more

Overall these are reasonably sturdy, comfy, and nice looking for the price. I ordered two, and both had one leg slightly shorter than the others, which is level after adding all the extra pads they came with to the short legs. The underside is unfinished, with visible plywood, staples, loose threads, and stickers. I chose to cover this myself rather than hassle with a return.
