This is a decent option to a cone for my golden retriever recovering from FHO surgery. For reference, my girl Jessie is appx 75lbs, with a stockier build. We initially ordered the 3XL, but it was like a tent on her, so she now has the 2XL, and it’s just about right for her. Different dog breeds have such different build types, even if of the the same weight, so there’s rarely going to be a perfect fit. Pros - Stretchy cloth, so moves with the dog. It’s almost like a thin sweatshirt material, and seems sturdy enough. She can still pee and poop just fine wearing it. Obviously it doesn’t obstruct her vision. It launders just fine. Once you learn how, it’s pretty easy to put on your dog. Cons - The biggest con for us has been that the zipper slides down. That may be due to her stocky chest/shoulder area pulling on the cloth there?? We’ve experimented with ways to keep the zipper from sliding, and this morning’s attempt was to sew on a plastic buckle. I think we’re going to sew on a tie instead though, as the buckle isn’t quite doing the trick. As her wound is healing, I think the cloth rubbing against the stitches makes them itch a bit - of course a cone wouldn’t do that. Neutral - I didn’t want to roll the rear legs up, so I just cut off the length of the ‘pant legs’. If you have a male dog, you’ll need to cut out an opening in the belly area - it’s marked on the cloth.

Fits well but my dog easily chewed through it the first time she wore it. After days of successfully using ither clothing to inhibit her accessing her wound, she was able to get through this suit, open her wound and hurt herself in only minutes while I within arms reach of her. She needed emergency surgery but is ok now. Frankly, I hadnt considered she would, or could do that. Maybe oupr situation isnt like yours and this would work great. We have successfully used other surgical suits and clothing barriers on my other large dog multiple times in the past but I think this kind of thing is situation specific. Our dog has a incision that is almost a foot long and had a drain too. Her wound was leaking fluid and we were using the suit help keep her absorbant pads on place. She did not have her cone on the time she ate through her suit. The suit is thicker than a t-shirt, more like quality cotton yoga style pants- but still not thick enough to determine someone with intent. Unless you use it just for keeping warm, or if the wound isn't easily accessible maybe it would work as intended. We plan to try it again once her wound has healed enough the top is closed and there isn't the risk of her opening it back up.v

I ordered two sizes of this recovery suit for our 95lb weim. (Grey XXXL, Pink XXL). The grey suit was WAY to big with a lot of extra fabric under her that I worried she would pee on it, I was hopeful the size down would be perfect but now it’s really snug. The XXL fits our dog but I worry about how tight it is on her wound so will likely be returning. Love that this is mostly made of cotton, if sizing had worked out I think this would’ve been a 5 star for us.
