I hadn’t read the reviews before purchasing, so after reading comments I was a bit scared of the chairs breaking when people over a weight limit sat on it. My solution was simple though, I just put the stools height the lowest it goes and they seem sturdier that way. The video with the woman explaining all the positive points, it covers everything I love about these chairs. ALL of what she said is true and I agree with the comfort, style and versatility of these chairs. What I challenge and disagree with is the WEIGHT RATING. But I and my spouse each weigh around 200lbs, so we thought these, being weight rated for 300lbs, SHOULD have been sufficient. If you, like us, are an overweight person, I would avoid these. The seats are perfectly fine, but the stand/base is made of inadequate metal. The first things to go were the foot rests. 200lbs and up will, with repeated use of getting in and out of the chair, weaken, bend and break them. also, the base can apparently bend at the bottom. Where the swivel shaft connects to the cymbal-shaped base, it's not well reinforced. Perhaps they could have used a stronger grade of metal? I bought a set of 4 almost two years ago. Currently, I have ONE fully functional unbroken chair, two that are usable but the foot rests are broken, and one that--nearly a year ago-- I had to get rid of because it was bent, leaning and unsteady at the base (which is NOT fixable by laymen like myself). I was super excited to get these bar stools after I ready all the great reviews about the good quality for the low price paid. When I assembled the stools, which is very easy (yea!), Part C on one of the stools (the hydraulic stem that is supposed to allow for raising and lowering) did not function so that stool cannot be raised/lowered. Because everything else is working properly on both stools, I really didn't want to have to box them back up and go to the hassle of returning them. When I tried to see if I could just have a new Part C shipped to me, Amazon customer service Chat informed me that the seller cannot send replacement parts and my only choice was to return the stools for full replacement. I'm not going to do that and I'm just going to live with that stool not raising higher, which is not going to be needed often. I like the stools, but disappointed that a failed part cannot be replaced with a new part, which is much smarter and less costly for the seller than the cost of a full return and replacement. ... show more
