I had high hopes for this device, it has a lot of features and the MyQ app is quite good. I had to go through a couple of defective units and troubleshooting why it would not connect to WiFi with the phone setup (google 5ghz password issue.) I have 3 of these installed and the go through batteries quickly, even with detection turned off and recording turned off they last about two weeks if you’re lucky. There is a lot of electronics in the device and sure they all use electricity but the claims that the battery lasts for 6 months is a work of fiction. Also they can lose connectivity to wifi quite often and then you have to go back and disable 5ghz WiFi on your home network then repair and readd the lock to the network. So overall great device, better than other options on the market but battery life is short and still a little buggy. ... show more

Style: myQ 3-in-1 Smart Lock
I have had several other brands of door locks, but this has been my favorite hands down. I had the Kwikset on the front door but after seeing the features of the MyQ, I decided to try it. Man what a complete difference in style, technology and functionality. My only grip would be the color selection, I wish they had a brushed bronze or satin nickel finish. That being said the installation was so easy, I would say even the most challenged person could follow the instruction and do it themselves. Make sure to scan the QR code first and there is a video description of exactly how to do the install, this is one of the best features of the lock installation. After the install is done it is very easy to move on to the next steps and include your PIN number, do your facial recognition, and fingerprint all in one sitting. It was very easy to follow along and program other users to have their own profile and almost second account. It connected to my Wifi immediately, and I already have a few other MyQ items in my home, so the integration into adding a new product was super easy for me. But having this many devices in an all in one app, is so much easier than trying to open several apps to get to my front door, or my garage, or the cameras. I have two garage door openers, several of the MyQ cameras, a garage door video keypad and now I have the front door lock. The technology and features are better than the other name brands as far as I am concerned. This thing has facial recognition, so you lock the door and as you walk up to it, I would say within about 3-5 feet, it scans your face and there is a red light that comes on to look at each person then the door unlocks. I love this feature and one of my absolute favorites, as you don't have to enter a code or anything. Now it does have an option to enter the code and you have to press a button to wake the keypad first, then enter the code and it does the same thing. The fingerprint scanner was pretty cool as well, I am not sure why someone would use that versus the facial recognition unless they are timid about facial stuff. But so many things are done with facial recognition now. The app works great and all my devices are in one spot, I can open the app and see everything. I can up timers and routines with Alexa to close garage doors, lock front doors and camera settings. Lastly one of the absolute best options for me is the rechargeable battery pack, all my other doors utilize AA batteries and the locks go through them at least every other month. This has a rechargeable battery pack and I don't know how long it lasts, but I haven't had to recharge it since its installation 1 month ago.     • Solves the Doorbell Problem I Had
Style: myQ 3-in-1 Smart Lock
Quality is great. Perfect for my home. Regular doorbell view is blocked by column at entrance, so I needed something that would let me see who's at the door from a different angle. This device fixed that issue immediately. I mounted it on the side of my door frame instead of centered, and now I get a clear view of visitors without the column blocking the camera. The 2K video is crisp and the wide-angle lens captures enough of the entrance that I can see packages, people approaching, and vehicles in the driveway. Color night vision actually works too, which surprised me. I can make out faces and details even when it's dark. The lock itself is solid. The fingerprint and face recognition features work reliably most of the time. I use the face unlock regularly and it unlocks within a second or two. Fingerprint is equally fast. The PIN option is handy for guests, and I can manage everything through the app without hassle. The physical key backup is reassuring for peace of mind. Battery life has been solid. I'm about two months in and the battery indicator still shows plenty of charge. The app sends me alerts for motion and visitors, and the notifications are prompt. The facial recognition isn't perfect in every lighting condition, but it's accurate enough that I trust using it as my primary access method. Takes about a second longer in bright sunlight, but it works. If you're in a similar situation where a standard doorbell placement doesn't work for your door setup, this gives you the flexibility to mount it where it actually works. If you want facial recognition do not buy. I am in Florida where there is no laws against this feature but it is disabled. I called customer service, they said it was blocked by law I had them email me a reference. The law sent was H.R.4695 which 1 doesnt apply its for law enforcement and 2 hasnt been passed into law. ... show more
