This hits hard and was easy to install using a line output converter. Sits in my trunk and goes through the rear seats just fine. I plugged the port to get a much cleaner sounding bass. With the port open it can get a little muddy sounding at higher volumes. Biggest con during install was that the grub screws in the Amplifier that hold the positive/negative and remote with are designed in a way that shears your wire clean off when you torque them down. Biggest issue with the remote wire as its small. I cut it off over and over till I crimped a small piece of metal on the end of it then torqued it down. The included screws to mount the amp strip out way to easy, Used proper wood screws I have laying around. Is there better out there? YES Is this a great deal for just over $300 for the amp and subs? Absolutely I would call this a low to mid-range sub setup, but plenty for what I needed, I'm not a kid anymore so I don't need a $2k setup lol. ... show more

First time installing subs and it couldn’t have gone better , i paid the extra money and how the vented subs and it was worth every dollar . I have friends with the non vented and they don’t even land in the same category as these , surprisingly they even came with a quality bass knob aswell . The amp is more then enough power for these and at 50% bass I have more then enough power to break my back window . And wake up the neighbors lol . Pair this setup with a quality wiring kit (thickest gauge you can get ) I found my kit including a capacitor , fuse , positive and negative wires and everything else I could possibly need for around 50$ . Purchased the higher wattage package thinking it was a upgrade but ended up with more problems then I’ve ever had as soon as I installed them I noticed that they didn’t sound as good as the lower priced package after about a week after breaking them in I noticed that they smelled burnt so I got ahold of Amazon and they couldn’t help because my return window was closed so I got a hold of Mtx and they offered to replace them so I had to take them apart and mail them out so 2 weeks went by I received the replacement subs and the same thing happened again worst experience ever now I’m dealing with Mtx on another replacement instead of Amazon taking them back I have to take the box apart again and deal with a mess long story short don’t waste your money or time find something better ... show more

Had this sub and amp kit for 2 weeks broke in the subwoofer before cranking it after having it tuned but once I did crank it after 2 weeks of ownership and lower volume it blew the amp. The subwoofer itself and the casing for it is nice and doesn't get too hot. Bass is very clear and clean. Bit heavy and slides around so I had to tie it down. These subs knock.. Had a 15in MTX 5500 (new version) single sub bridged on a MTX MXA 400.2 amp before. And this little two 12 set up with the 500.1 amp is really killing it. Almost night & day.. Was a little skeptical with it being MTXs entry level set up.. But don't sleep these subs really knock & for $300 well worth it. I got these due to Amazon & youtube ratings. Figured if they were as good as they are said to be then why now. Absolutely glad I did. Just ordered two more to add to my Explorer so ill be running six 12s and three 500.1s under a $1000 system not bad at all.. You may think why not a bigger or better sub and amp. Because between the box, amp, & subs they are made for each other... Besides being able to run Six 12s and three amps all matching is gonna just looks dope... Well worth it i defiantly advise.. I bought these less than 7 months ago for my sons Christmas. We paid to have them professionally installed by a reputable audio specialist business in town. Today his radio wasn't working. So we take it back to the installer who showed us the problem. He said "the amp went bad and burnt up the cheap wire." So at this point I would not recommend to purchase. 7 months is no time for a $400 purchase and a disappointed kiddo. ... show more
