I was replacing an indoor portable ac that was super noisy and inefficient and got a very nice surprise after I installed my new Mr Cool 12k 5th generation DIY. It took me 4 days working at 3 - 4 hrs a day because i am older and being on a tall ladder I have to be careful, but everything went along quite nicely without too many issues and taking my time to do a professional job. I got some extras like conduit to hide the hoses and I did a direct connection to my AC panel to outside with some schedule 40 PVC and 12awg THWN wire to an AC disconnect box with fuses. When I finally turned it on, I could barely hear the outdoor compressor and the indoor upstairs unit was also very silent and immediately started blowing cold air. I am totally sold with Mr. Cool and the seller was very polite and helpful with the shipping. I have nothing but praises for the system, the price and ease of diy installation. Easy to install, and works amazingly well. My install was tricky due to the height of the head, the fact that I wasn't able to mount it on an external wall, and that we had to run the lines 25 feet. The initial investment of $2000 has been lost due to the unit's failure, specifically coil leakage. The product's lifespan is questionable, and the company offers no warranty support.
