  • I love this heater
This is a great space heater for my garage woodshop. It's probably overkill for what I need. I use it to heat a two car garage wood shop, but it heats my garage up in just minutes so I can go to work immediately without being freezing cold. I ganged together two 20 pound propane bottles and it works perfectly. The bottles don't freeze and last quite a long time because I only have to run the heater for about five minutes on and about 20 or 30 minutes off depending on how cold it is outside. And that is while leaving the garage door open about five or 6 inches and a window open on the other side a couple of inches for ventilation. It turns on and off automatically thanks to a thermostat however since it sits on the floor and the garage doors open from the bottom up it's colder on the floor then the space above it and setting it to turn off automatically is a bit tricky but easy enough to just turn it off and on as needed manually. The 10 foot line that. Comes with it is more than adequate and loosens up nicely when warm, however it will hold it shape if it is cold and may be a little ungainly so just take it in your house for a bit until it's warm and then lay it out in a straight line in the garage and you will have a very straight 10 foot line. Surprisingly for as much heat as it puts out the exterior surfaces remain cool to the touch and there is no chance of being burned. I have never heard the previous model, this one says it is 50% quieter, but it is still fairly loud. I can still hear the radio over it with a minor volume adjustment. Quite acceptable given how much heat it produces in such a short time and that it does not run very long in any event. I considered buying the lesser BTU model but in retrospect I am glad I did not see this heater works perfectly for me as described with a lower BTU model the heater would be running longer and I assume it would take more propane. I actually only use it at the lowest setting of 125,000 BTUs and that is more than adequate Mostly just to conserve propane. Because I was concerned about carbon monoxide in my garage, I purchased a industrial carbon monoxide monitor. This monitor is very accurate and has been tested for accuracy. The most carbon monoxide that I have been able to produce in my garage with this heater is about a one or two parts for million. The only ventilation I have is leaving the garage door open about 6 inches on the bottom which is where the heater sits half in the garage and half out. So I am now able to use this heater in my garage without concern for carbon monoxide poisoning. I should admonish, that it does require some ventilation but with proper ventilation in my experience using my methods of testing there is no concern or problem. ... show more

  • Used it all winter, gotta have it
Made the uninsulated shop to hot sometimes while it was 15°F outside. No unmanageable fumes, doesn’t make your eyes water. It will roast whatever you leave in front of it including pant legs. It is HOT and I love it

  • hot and quiet
I've had a bunch of the smaller ones over the years. A few different brands. This is the first one I found that had a thermostat, so I got it. Thing is awesome. Heats my 1200 sq ft shop up quick and I haven't needed to turn it up all the way yet. Compared to the last one I had of a different brand and only 60k btu, this one is quiet. Nice unit, will see how long it lasts. I usually get a year or two out of the smaller ones. ... show more

  • Good Heater, but the Hose & Regulator Listing is Inaccurate
This heater works great, and I love the thermostatic control. However, the "Include[d] . . . 20ft hose & regulator" is only a ten foot hose. The listing is inaccurate.

  • Great heater
I purchased these to warm up my uninsulated shop. Cracked the garage door and let this bad boy rip, my 30 x 35 space went from 39 degrees to 72 in a matter of minutes. The level of sound it makes is negligible for my application. 20lbs propane tank lasted 4-5 hours on the lowest setting… Highly recommend this for this application. I would NOT run these in an enclosed space. As an extra precaution I installed 2 Carbon Monoxide detectors for peace of mind. ... show more

  • Works great for a short period of time
Works great for a short period of time, then the propane tank will start to ice up & the flame will diminish considerably. That's inside of a large building, with temperatures in the 30s. The kerosene one we have works with no issues in the same elements. We've tried different propane tanks & the results remain the same. ... show more

  • Very effective heat for shop
This thing is powerful. The downside of its power is you can't really run it at full power off of a standard bbq propane bottle. My experience is that you need to at least gang up two bottles together. It will run at low power off one bottle. The thermostat works well and the overall output is perfect for a relatively large shop area. ... show more

  • Rather quiet running. And a lot less stinky than a diesel fired torpedo heater
Very light weight and easy to transport. A lot cleaner than a stinky diesel burner
