I purchased this rack in order to create a bike rack for my Class B camper van on the rear mounted storage box. I cut one of the rails down to ~18” in length and cut the mounting fittings to prepare them to be welded to side mount plates. I bolted the side mounted plates to the sides of the box and mounted my ‘rack’ in place. It very solid and mount the bike rack on top. It worked out like a charm. I heard there might be some cracking on the aluminum box if the rails were directly bolted on the box. These things are not cheap so I changed the mounting method. The only issue I had was the extremely small screws that hold the plastic endcap fittings to the ends of the rails. These screws with easily break off a ring in the plastic and fall out. I ended up using self tapping metal screws for this purpose. I’m very happy with the results ... show more
