Description

The MotorGuide Xi5-80FW 60-Inch 24V Wireless Trolling Motor comes with a wireless control that lets you precisely operate the motor from anywhere on the boat. Plus, this freshwater motor has Pinpoint® GPS and a sonar transducer to help you achieve your greatest fishing success every time out. This Xi5 Wireless Freshwater model has composite shaft material and a 3-blade Machete III Glass-Filled propeller, wireless foot-pedal controller, digital variable speed controls, forward motor direction, battery meter, and handheld wireless remote is available as an accessory. The wireless control is a standard feature of the Xi5 – not the expensive add-on it is for many competitive motors – so you can fish from anywhere on the boat using the convenient wireless foot-pedal controller. The wireless pedal provides outstanding motor control as its intuitive, pro-style "heel-toe" operation controls steering that is extremely quiet, precise, and 50-percent faster than competitive controllers. Digital variable speed control enables exceptional low-speed trolling capability and longer run time. The Xi5 features an easy-to-read LED dashboard that lets you quickly check the status of key functions in any light conditions, including: Power ON/System Ready; Propeller ON; Pinpoint GPS System Active; and three levels of battery life. The built-in 83/200 kHz sonar transducer delivers industry-leading clarity and detail, so you can identify more fish and structure. It has an integrated temperature sensor and epoxy- potted nose cone for maximum protection. Sonar adapter cables ensure compatibility with most leading sonar brands. The Pinpoint® GPS is the industry’s most accurate GPS, and it provides 3 times the precision control and a tighter hold on your anchor point. Teaming it with versatile Lowrance® displays (sold separately) makes it easy to maximize Pinpoint® GPS control and functionality to create new fishing strategies. The Xi5 features an improved, low-profile mount. The base uses corrosion-resistant anodized aluminum and the hardware components are stainless steel throughout, including the durable linkage. The unique stow and deploy mechanism aligns and guides the motor into the stowed position and secures it in place. For added safety, a secondary lock prevents unintentional deployment and potential damage. The new composite shaft is so capable of managing any obstructions – it will bend but won't break – that it is backed by a lifetime warranty. I ordered this unit on Wednesday and had it by that Friday. Thanks to Prime, shipping was free. A huge bonus for an item this large and heavy! The installation was a breeze, but the mounting bolts are huge. None of that is important to you though. Here's what matters.... I have a 2014 Tracker Pro Guide v-175 Combo. It gets pushed around by the wind pretty easily! We took my boat out over the weekend, after installing the Motorguide Xi5, in winds upwards of 20mph at times. The anchor lock feature worked great. We tossed a marker bouy out and it held very close to that the entire time. Never experienced any "yo-yo" effects that plagued my previous TM made by MK. The heading lock also worked great, and rarely ever needed any correction. I can't begin to tell you how much less stressful controlling my boat is now. I was worried that I would regret this purchase, but so far it feels FAR superior to my MK equivalent motor that this replaced. If you're on the fence, don't be. This is a great product, and it sounds like they are continuing to enhance its features... Took out yesterday; another very windy day. It handled the water like a champ! Pros: Easy to install, anchor lock works GREAT (if you want to sit completely still, then you're better off using a real anchor or power pole), the heading lock is great. The motor is so quite I can barely tell it's on (unless on high speed), and it deploys and stows very easily. We can do it with one hand. My MK PDv2, it was like wrestling a bear to get that thing back in the boat at times... Cons: The remote - no indicator that the motor is on, and no way of telling what setting the motor is on. The bolts that come with the installation package are HUGE. I had to go buy bolts about half the size in order to install this. Not a big deal, and I get why they come with those bolts... but it's a con, none the less. Very touchy controls, turns really fast! Not sure it's fair to call this a con, as I'm just not used to it. The gateway is a separate purchase @ $250, and it's essentially just an adapter cable. *** Update *** I have had this unit for over a year now. By itself it is great... Paired with my Lowrance HDS7 Gen3, it is awesome. With one exception, the autopilot feature has some kind of bug. It will either get to a way point and just decide it's going to anchor lock you, or worse... go into what we refer to as "flip mode" where it cranks the motor to full throttle and just goes all out bat%!%@ crazy. It's a minor thing really, but can be very frustrating when you can't just focus on the fishing. Everything else about this unit is awesome. ... show more

Works great. Does everything as described. Foot pedal control needs getting use to. Much like learning the feel of the gas and brake pedal when first learning to drive.

For the first few months it was working perfect; at least I thought it was until I went on my friend boat with the Minn Kota (similar price) trolling motor; I have experienced way more advanced pin point (Minn Kota) and coordination with the fish finder (Hummingbird); By the way, the main reason I bought Motorguide was compatible system with Lawrence fish finder I had on the main console and I wanted to add new one on the bow. But the biggest disappointment and reason I would never recommended Xi5 is squeak is making after or about (1) year of use when the warranty expires. To resolve the problem, I have contacted Mercury Customer Service (listed in Motorguide warranty booklet); Motorguide do not have their own !!!) and they gave me local service to fix the problem. As soon as I have contacted local service place, they have informed me they no longer willing to work on Motorguide trolling motors at all for numerous reasons. Later, I was trying to fix it myself. I went through numerous Youtube videos how to fix it and non of them really worked so I am stacked with junk . As a conclusion, for more than $1,500.00 this trolling motor is very disappointing and not worth it and it will ruin your fishing spirit while squeaking and scarring all fish away. ... show more

Trolling motor wraps up the wiring when you spot lock... and just used 2wks ago and foot pedal turn left doesnt work!!!. Not what I was expecting in less than a year. Also FOB hole for lanyard is broke out. Cheap and not happy !!!!
