Overall, a great product. The studs hold well. What I've found, on our Jetta, is only weld it for a split second. The instructions recommend 1/2 a second to a second, but that seems to be too much for thin metal. Not too happy with the Magna-Wire. The 16 gauge seems too thin and broke before we could put much tension on it.Will look at the 12 gauge. Recommendation: the tips kept falling out, especially the one for the Magna-Wire. If you can put a stronger magnet, that may solve it. Also, the studs are supposed to be able to be held at the top of the welder, but barely hold. Again, a stronger magnet should improve this. Recommend that they include some 12 gauge Magna-Wire in this kit. ... show more

When it arrived and I opened the case, many of the draw pins were loose inside due to rough handling. To ensure nothing was wrong with the stud gun, I welded a few pins to an exhaust pipe, and it worked great. I will update this review once I get a chance to do some bodywork, but for now, I am very well pleased. ... show more

A nice quality, made in USA stud gun for a reasonable price. I own a restoration shop and so stud guns are something that gets used a bit around here. We've tried cheap systems from discount stores in strip malls that sell foreign made tools and we've tried units costing three times as much coming off of fancy red and black tool trucks. At the end of the day, this system falls solidly in the bottom 25% in terms of price, yet will stand it's ground against even the most expensive in terms of quality. When my employees finish tearing up enough tools that I need to order some more stud guns, these will get my business the next time again. ... show more

I had looked at this same welder gun on one of the advertiser sites that advertise on custom car shows. Restomotive had the better price, the better slide hammer and 500 pins v 100 pins by the other seller. You can go through a lot of pins quickly. I probably used 20 on a small dent. A pro probably could have used less but I am a perfectionist. This was the first time I've used a Stud Welder but it was simple to use. Actually it was fun to use. Instructions were clear. I'm very happy with the gun and plan to get plenty of use out of it with the two cars I'm working on. ... show more
