Flew off on the way to to kayaking... whole beam completely bent going 45mph causing it to fly off into the middle of the road with a kayak. On the way down it scartched my roof and dented the trunk of my car. Poorly constructed. A major liability!!!

the 85mm strap that secures the rack to vehicle is not long enough, don’t kid yourself the mount must fit flush by against roof making the 85mm strap to short. they call this a universal fit, maybe for other vehicles not the matrix even though they say it fits. i have the tools to modify the strap using a piece of metal from shorter one. i’m also using anchors to mount the rack and anchors for the straps as well. if your not capable to modify correctly i would not buy this carrier for a matrix with flat roof. ... show more

Came with terrible “instructions” if you can even call them that, there was just crappy pictures of what you’re supposed to do not written directions or anything. This product says it fits a 2015 Camry LE but it certainly does not, while tightening it down it just lifts the bar up and up and doesn’t tighten down at all.     • A bit tricky to get on first.
So this will do the job. We have a 2016 Ford Fusion and needed a little extra room for a road trip. This did the job but was scary. It came loose on the freeway twice over the duration of the four-day trip. And that was with after the first time it came loose we would periodically stop just to make sure it was tight. The non-skid pads they provide actually came off when it came loose so I would recommend maybe gluing them on. I have yet to try it myself. Towards the end of the trip I felt somewhat confident that I could relax and not worry about it flying off my roof but I don't think that's a safe thing to do. At the end of the day me and all my stuff made it home minus a couple non skid pads ... show more
