  • Has worked reliably and consistently and a LOT cheaper than an electrician.

My MB walk-in closet only had a cheap light bulb socket in the ceiling with an awkward string pull switch. I'd have to fumble for the string in the dark to turn on the light, which was annoying. With the new Alexa devices, I bought a smart bulb socket and connected it with Alexa. It worked fine and was easier than the string pull, but I'd have to tell Alexa to turn on the light in order to light the closet and then turn it off. Then I found this product. It screws into the light fixture the same as the bulb would or the smart socket, but requires no wifi connection because it's motion sensitive. It works great! I just open the door and the light turns on automatically as I enter the closet. The unit is adjustable to stay on from 10 to 60 seconds, according to your needs. Mine is set at 30 seconds, which is usually more than enough time for me to get what I want out of the closet. If I need more time, I just wave my arm in front of it after it goes off and it turns on again for another 30 seconds, but this is very infrequent for me. I think I've had it for about two years and it still works perfectly, so it seems to be very reliable and durable. It can use up to a 60 watt bulb, so it's plenty bright enough for my closet. I'm very happy with this product, and it saved me a lot of money over hiring an electrician to put in a light switch. I'd heartily recommend this product. ... show more

I did have an issue and mine worked for about 5 weeks then stopped working right after the return window closed. However the seller fully warrantied the item and immediately shipped me out a replacement.

  • Cheapest piece of hardware I've dealt with in a long time
Number of Items: 1
Oh boy, where do I start? Positives: - It detects motion - It turns on the light Negatives: - Motion detection is slow and unreliable - Timing doesn't work linearly - Build quality - Build quality - Build quality - Instructions are basically useless - Build quality Ok, so super simple situation. Laundry room in a basement and stupid washer and dryer that have touch based, non illuminated power buttons. I actually had a smart bulb in this socket for a long time, but the automation side didn't really fit our needs and it wasn't great. I wanted to replace it with one of those garage lights that are ridiculously bright, but there's no smarts there. Enter this hunk'o'junk. Installation was easy, until it wasn't. How many people does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Ok, so I look at the instructions, useless. Pretty obvious, box says the time delay is "10sec - 5minutes", not the greatest. Let's try it out, I move the time dial to about half, so that should give me north of 2 minutes of light...wrong! Not only was it shorter, probably around a minute to 90 seconds, but it wasn't consistent. Sometimes I'd get 30 seconds, sometimes I'd get a little over a minute. The motion sensor is also really slow. Like, I get to the bottom of my stairs and have time to think "oh man, I think it's broken why hasn't it turned on" in my head, then it turns on. With the inconsistent, it shuts off while I'm actively moving around it. Continue moving, nothing. Continue moving, nothing. After 10-15 seconds, it turns back on. Now, check this out. There are 2 body sections to this unit and you can see that in the pictures. The dome PIR sensor is basically the dividing line. Above the sensor is one piece, below the sensor is another piece. Guess how they're connected. No, seriously, guess. They're TWIST LOCK. Guess how many times it split in 2 pieces. Every time. Who thought it was a good idea to design an intermediary for a light bulb with a twist lock body? No matter what, it's coming apart. Unbelievable that this was even part of the conversation in the design phase. It's such a stupid simple and cheap design, too. PIR sensor runs like $0.25 at retail, probably $0.10 wholesale. A simple switched circuit with a timer, the male E26/27 and the female E26/27, probably another $2 maybe at retail. The body is probably the most expensive part of the BOM and they botched it....BAD. Many other reviews say the same thing, unfortunately, there aren't a lot of options for this type of thing and sometimes people can be too picky. NOPE, those reviews are pretty generous looking back at them now. Needless to say, I'm returning this thing. Instead of an improvement, it's a massive detriment to the purpose it was bought for....or any purpose, really. ... show more

  • ONLY WORK FACING DOWN!

ONLY WORK FACING DOWN! SIDEWAYS mounting does not work well, though it does work okay. Listing should have been more clear about that. Also, build quality is low. Very cheap knobs.
