here's my one sentence review: i have an AMD FX 8350, which seems to be universally regarded as one of the hottest chips on the market today, i live in hot-as-hell louisiana, i leave nicehash on and mining crypto when im out and about - and that 8350 has never risen above 55C. (oh crap i forgot to mention i have it stable at 4.8GHz and running on 1.46volts) i bought the 8350 because it was a year or two old at the time and quite cheap, and i never stopped to wonder why that was. apparently you'll wind up spending that money on finding a mobo that can pump out a steady 125 watts, and you'll spend money on an extravagant cooling system to keep it cool. blah blah blah long story short after a year or so i got interested in overclocking so you know how this unfolds, at some point i realized the stock cooler just wasnt gonna cut it. thank god my budget at the time made me spend quite some time looking around, i assumed at the time i'd be shopping for a liquid cooling solution. i had no idea that 'tower CPU coolers' were even a thing, and when one popped up in the recommendations, i became almost obsessed. the entire concept seemed so excessively outrageous, and they looked so ridiculous, but these are all adjectives i aim for with my personal aesthetic or whatever. all my friends were running liquid-cooled intel chips, so i had to naturally swerve in the completely opposite direction. i landed on the h5 because not only was it rated for 125w TDP, but it was rated all the way up to 180... and it was under 60 bucks. you just can't hit those numbers with liquid cooled products, i was looking at a hundred bucks minimum. like a cherished ex-lover, this beefy big ol' bucko will bring out your most extreme emotions - in both directions, high and low. for starters it will define your entire PC case shopping experience forever. i've had to pass on so many potential cases that i absolutely loved, my heart breaking every time i finally came across that dreaded line: "max cpu tower height: 120mm" installation wasn't impossible, but it wasn't easy either. you'll bend your motherboard enough to make you nervous, you'll lose your mind trying to tighten screws by feel alone in the cramped space between the motherboard and the bottom of the hulking monolith of a radiator. and yeah, it's been mentioned here: better remove that heatsink from the RAM stick closest to the tower, because when the ad says "your RAM will fit", they are saying it with a mischevious grin and a wink of the eye... TECHNICALLY a stick of ram will fit, but hey, they didn't say a heatsink would! i guess this all seems like i'm trashing this cooler, because obviously none of this seems like a positive. but you would be wrong, and you obviously forgot the opening of this review: i'm running a SUPER-HOT chip at the edge of FIVE GHz at TWENTY FIVE celcius on average. the thrill of casually dropping this fact at the tail-end of a conversation where folks proudly brag about being overclocked to 4ghz and 'only' running at 35c -still- elicits something like a day-long runners' high deep in my soul. now i should be totally honest and admit that it wasn't until i added a coolermaster jetflo 120mm fan at the rear - itself a beast of a fan that can push a staggering 90CFM of air - that i was able to hit those numbers. as has been noted here, i too was worried that such a gargantuan behemoth like the h5 would naturally be super loud, but somewhat to my dismay it maxes out at a delicately gentle 1400rpms, and the few times i *thought* i heard it, further inspection always revealed it was some other fan. clearly they expect you to buy a second 140mm fan (and go so far as to include some extra mounting brackets in the h5's box) in order to maximize the potential of the insane surface area available to dissipate heat. however, with that 120mm fan a mere inch away mounted at the rear fan position and pulling 90cf's a minute out of my case, the effect is basically a windtunnel inside my PC, and the h5 gives ya plenty of contact area for that moving air to carry all that heat far, far away. anyways i dont think anyone needs to see yet another photograph of this thing as the ones here are plenty suitable, so i will instead post some photos from a period where i went, uh, slightly overboard in my quest for airflow. and yes, you are seeing it correctly, that -is- my old cpu cooler sitting on top of the h5, and thank you, adding a cpu cooler cooler to my cpu cooler so i can cool my cpu cooler while i cool my cpu -was- a brilliant power move. p.s. yes i know that case looks a little dirty. i would totally have cleaned it up and added some LED lighting, but at that point i'd have to throw on a coffeecan muffler and a giant jdm spoiler as well. i've heard a few folks swear that it will totally increase your GHz...

This is by far the best air cooler I've used. I've been using the infamous CM Evo and that cooler works well. But after reading reviews and watching YouTube videos, I decided to give this cooler a try. I bought it at $46.99 and this ranks at a mid price cpu cooler. It's a great investment, knowing that this cooler performed so well for it's price. Now I know why this is called the Evo Killer, cuz it beats that cooler by several degrees and doing so with a fan that works quietly. In the box it comes with the mounts for both AMD and Intel. I used it on a pc build that has an AM3+ socket with an FX8350 cpu. The installation was simple and there's even a YouTube video from the company showing how to install it. Just simply remove the stock motherboard mount and replace it with the included mount. Total install time for me is about 20mins, to include cleaning and prepping the cpu and heatsink surface. It comes with their own thermal paste but I used the Artic MX-4 because I've been using that product for a while now and it performed very well. Performance results: Case: Cooler Master 912 HAF 1 120mm in the front 1 120mm fan in the side air duct 1 120mm exhaust fan. Room temperature is at 70f or 21c. Gaming temperature: Playing BF4, BF1, Crysis 3, Witcher 3. = temperature is around 54c or 129f max. Stress Test using CPUZ with all cores at 100% = temperature is around 66c or 159f max. This temperature result is about 5-7c lower than the CM Evo. The size of the cooler is big and that's how it's able to cool so well. My case (CM 912 HAF) is about 9in wide and this fits with few inches to spare. You can check the company website to find out if their cooler can fit in your case. Be sure your case is wide enough to accommodate this cooler. I used all memory ram slots and I have to adjust the 140mm fan to allow space for the first ram module. (see pic). So far, I am very satisfied with this purchase and I highly recommend this cooler to other users out there who want a silent cooler and those who wants to overclock their processor.

Pros: + Price: Affordable price compare to Noctua + Quality: All parts are very well made + Design: I love the looks of it, it suits my theme (black and white) very well. + Performance: Keep my i7 7700K @ 4.2GHz idle at 28C, game at 61C. Then I overclocked my i7 7700K to 4.7GHz, it still keeps it idle at 31C ~ 33C, game at 63C ~ 67C. I also did stress test, the highest I got was 71C. + Loudness: The fan is very quite, even I overclocked the CPU, I can barely hear anything from the case. Cons: - Not really a con, but it will block the closest RAM slot if your RAM is tall. My RAM is GeIL Super Luce RGB DDR4. Good thing is my motherboard, Asus TUF Z270 Mark 2, still works fine with RAM installed in the A2 B2 slots. Other Thoughts: I was in between this and the Hyper 212 Evo. I also thought about CRYORIG H7 and H5 Universal but finally decided to go with H5 Ultimate after doing some researches (H5 has better quality parts than H7). The main reason I didn't go with Hyper 212 Evo is the design of it, I have a tempered glass case, Hyper 212 Evo just doesn't look good with the heat sink top. I know many people would suggest AIO cooler for tempered glass case but I prefer air cooler in long term. This baby looks good with my case theme. I highly recommend this if you want a high quality performance CPU cooler at the affordable price, couple things you need to consider: the max height CPU fan support of your case and the height of your RAM. My Current Setup: Asus TUF Z270 Mark 2 Intel i7 7700K @ 4.7GHz EVGA Nvidia GTX 970 16GB GeIL Super Luce RGB DDR4 2400 256GB Intel SSD 3TB Toshiba HDD 7200RPM Seasonic FOCUS Plus 850W Cryorig H5 Ultimate 7 APEVIA 120mm Case Fans anidees AI-Crystal-Lite Case
