  • A Great Subwoofer If You Have Realistic Expectations
Style: Subwoofer
If you expect to use this subwoofer for any kind of home theater setup, then you’re probably going to experience a pretty high degree of disappointment because this just will not hit low enough or hard enough to reproduce a movie soundtrack. That job would be better filled by Monolith subwoofers, which I can attest to as I have been running dual 10s for the last 5 years in an 18x13 open great room with no shortage of tooth-rattling rumble. What this subwoofer is good for is to fill in the low end for a small desktop or garage 2.1 system at moderate levels. I have mine in my garage connected to an Aiyima A07 Max amp and a pair of Polk XT15 bookshelf speakers, and it easily fills the 20x20 space at little more than 1/4 volume. The bass blends very smoothly and transparently with the XT15s with no boominess or thumping or localization. It feels pretty light, but the construction quality is solid and the appearance is about as good as you get in this price range. The reviews complaining about how bad this subwoofer is when compared to the ones costing $1000+ or when using it with big speakers are kind of ridiculous. Would I expect this subwoofer to perform well compared to my Monolith 10s or with my Polk ES60s that go down to 32Hz? This fits a particular niche and will perform quite well when paired with smaller bookshelf speakers and used at moderate volumes. Expecting $1000 performance for under $200 is just delusional. ... show more

  • Nice sub for $100-150, not sure at the new price but sound good
Style: Subwoofer
I'm very glad I added this to my PC setup. Running a pair of Edifier MR4 monitors for my drivers and this as my sub. Used Equalizer APO to create a crossover and played around with levels through that rather than fiddling with the knobs on the back. I'm in a small room, about 11'x11', hardwood floors. Gives me a wonderful bass boost with a lot of clarity on the studio monitors still. Really notice it in games and with classical orchestral or organ music. Shakes the room! I picked it up on sale for $100 back in November of 2024, don't remember what the regular price was at the time but it currently seems high (these are made in China so I'm sure the tariffs have impacted the price in 2025) at $190. I'm not sure how they compare with other subs in the $200 price range, but they were definitely a great value at $100. ... show more

  • Good sub for the price
Style: Subwoofer
Overall, it's a solidly built, decent sounding sub. The frequency control is a bit touchy (a tiny change near the cutoff point I want either direction results in too boomy, or too lean), but when dialed in, the results balanced nicely with my system. I'm going to give the auto on feature a bit of time before I comment on it, but for now, I'm leaving it in auto mode to extend it's life. So far, so good. It's come on when sound is sent to it. As far as output, it's houseshaking when turned up (too much). I have it set just a touch past half way, and it blends in well with my Boston surround system, providing needed low end, without being too overwhelming. It's a touch punchy when set like this, which is great for action in films. For music, I tend to adjust the cutoff a touch and extend it down some... but I'm still playing with it, and may arrive at a cutoff that works perfectly for both in the room I'm working with (a small, 12' x 16', carpeted living room). ... show more

  • Strong bass frequencies
Style: Subwoofer
Subwoofer works as expected. Unit provides strong low bass frequencies to my bookshelf speaker system. The only complaint I have is hear a little woofer cone rattle at high volumes. I am hoping this goes away as the unit/speaker is broken in. I would recommend this subwoofer to anyone.

  • Defective right out of the box.
Style: Subwoofer
This subwoofer was defective right out of the box. It produces a low frequency buzzing noise. It starts to become audible when the sub's volume control is turned past 60%. When no cable is attached to the RCA LFE the. buzzing stops, however, when a RCA cable is plugged it, this triggers the buzzing. I was told my RCA cable is of low quality and is not shielded, bought two purpose build RCA cables heavily shielded and made for Subwoofer connection. Didn't work still buzzed. It also buzzed when connected to the AV reveiver. Fortunately I had also purchased a Klipsch 10" Subwoofer. It produced no buzzing with my RCA cables including the one that was labled as cheap and unshielded. I strongly believe in what you pay is what you get. The Monoprice Premium Select Subwoofer 8" certainly falls into this category. My new Klipsch cost 2.5 times the Monoprice, but you can feel the quality. I will contact Amazon for a refund. ... show more

  • Nice musical bass!
Style: Subwoofer
Nice musical bass down to 40 hz or lower. I hate boomy bass, being as I am an afficianado of Phil Lesh's counterpoint harmony playing. In my small man-cave I listen at low levels, so a subwoofer must convey musically and subtley at low volume levels. This one does -- it's exactly what I wanted, at a fair price, and goes nicely with my Polk fronts and center. Obviously I can't speak to its ability at loud levels. Cabinet is heavy, appears over-built for an 8" driver, but what's needed for quality sound. Not tiny, but squeezes in under my desk. ... show more

  • Solid buy
Style: Subwoofer
This subwoofer is solid as a rock and just about as heavy, you can knock on the sides or top and it almost sounds like a solid piece of wood and not a flimsy box stuffed with fiber fill. All knobs, connections and even the front grill feel high quality as does the sound it produces. I bought this to pair with my 12" sub to cover the higher side of the sub range and to fill the dead zones caused by having just one sub and neither one of them has to work hard to fill the room. I absolutely recommend this as a second sub or even a main if you're on a budget. ... show more

  • Bookshelf speaker Sub only
Style: Subwoofer
Small speaker and small sound. I guess I’m a small apartment it would be fine. It’s a front firing speaker. I like a non directional subwoofer. I had a hard time finding the right crossover between this sub and my Definitive towers and surrounds. Picked up a 10” Klipshe front and non directional sub. BOOM! There it is. I like low volume but full and clear sound with perfect pitch and balance. The little sub might be a good match for bookshelf speakers but not a big system ... show more
