  • If I had not spent an hour putting this together I would’ve returned it
Color: Matte Black Size: 17-Inch Frame (Impasse 1.0)
Negatives 1st BRAKES- this adult mountain bike brake system sucks. The rear brakes do not stop this bike adequately for a 200lb rider. PEDALS- I immediately had to buy cheap pedals from Walmart because the pedals that came with were stripped from the factory. $40 for pedals. REAR AXLE- if you plan to tow a trailer with a kid behind, go ahead and set $40 aside. I had to put a longer axle on so I could tow my 5 year old. Since I replaced the axle I added a quick release to the rear tire. SEAT- $30 for a new seat. The one that comes with is incredibly narrow. The seat is just a preference thing though. LACK OF CHAIN GUARD- again, just my personal preference there is not a guard. If you have ever caught your ankle in the chain/gears you will always be weary of this. 27.5 Frame- I am 5’6. I barely fit this bike. If you are shorter get a smaller bike. PROS- The frame is lightweight and easy to maneuver. RIDE- The suspension is helpful on bumps and uneven surfaces. It’s also light enough that with the trailer and kid in tow it doesn’t add to the overall weight. SHIFTER- I like how smooth it shifts with the quick shifter. The bike overall has good bones but I am not impressed with the brakes most of all. The handle bars are smooth. I like the suspension. Will update when I have a fix for the brakes along with the cost. ... show more

  • Derailleur didn't stay on gear, right pedal clicked loudly while pedaling
Color: Matte Black Size: 17-Inch Frame (Impasse 1.0)
Bike arrived nice and mostly assembled, so I finished assembly of the bike without many issues (left pedal had burs in threads that had to be brushed out before pedal could be screwed into place). The two major problems I had were the right bike pedal clicked loudly when I pedaled the bike, and lower gears always sounded like they were trying to shift into another gear. For the right pedal, I tried reinstalling the pedals but it always clicked when pressing down on the pedal (it clicked once per revolution of the crank), and it was plenty loud enough to be noticed by others. It sounded like a bearing may have been missing, or the bearing race was cracked or otherwise damaged. The problem was with the pedal itself, and the crank was fine. For the derailleur, I tried tuning the rear derailleur and couldn't get it to reliably stay in gear so I took it to a professional bike shop and they couldn't do it either. The only resolution for both issues was to purchase a new set of bike pedals for the popping pedal issue, and purchase a replacement derailleur for the shifting problem. The old shifter did Not have a visual aid to let you know what gear you were in, and the new one did which was Much more enjoyable to use. After the two parts were replaced, the bike was (and is) an absolute blast to ride. I'm 5' 5" tall and ride the 27.5" bike, it's hard to get onto because of my short legs but is easy to ride and control when I'm on it. I've had Mongoose mountain and trail bikes since 1999, and this is the first bike I've ever owned by Mongoose that arrived with any major problems. ... show more

  • Not a good quality mountain bike.
Color: Black/Blue Size: 17-Inch Frame (Impasse 2.0)
After four months the frame broke at the base of the seat post. There is also a persistent squeaking sound around the centre or rear of the frame. I cannot locate the exact source. A piece of the coil spring also broke off at the base. The front suspension also continues to make an irritating squeaking noise ... show more

  • Rides great
Color: Matte Black Size: 17-Inch Frame (Impasse 1.0)
Very smooth ride, had to get a fat seat desperately because I’m a larger person, it came mostly assembled but make sure you read the instructions and tighten everything because a few things were installed backwards, like the break lines, other than that it’s a great ride, can’t wait to take it on a trail ... show more

  • Great suspension
Color: Matte Black Size: 17-Inch Frame (Impasse 1.0)
I like this bike. I am 145 pounds and 5’6” with long legs. It works for me. The frame is sturdy and the front wheel is removable for transport. The wide tires are great for trails especially sand. This is not a cruiser. It is a mountain bike that handles rough terrain very well. I am new to trail riding and it was easy to navigate. The front wheel turns on a dime. I am older and the suspension keeps me from jarring on jumps and bumpy terrain. Well worth the money. ... show more

  • Mongoose: Más Taller que Camino – Una Bicicleta que Sale Cara
Color: Matte Black Size: 17-Inch Frame (Impasse 1.0)
... show more
