This review is coming from someone who has riden bmx for over 20 years, and has worked in or been a part of the bmx industry for over a 15 years now. So I know a a few things when it comes to high end, low end and everything in between. With that out of that way, let me say this, the L100 has a lot of good going for it. If managing to catch it for under $400 you can't go wrong. The full 4130 chromoly frame fork and bars is a huge step in the right direction and an excellent starting foundation if wanting to upgrade the bike in the future. The sealed rear wheel, mid bottom bracket, and internal headset are also nice, but I'll touch on those in a bit. The frame accommodates wide tires, I've pictured a 2.4" eclat fireball in the rear. The forks also have ample space for large tires as well. Stock pivotal seat is pretty comfy. Brakes feel pretty solid for stock brakes. Now, where the bike does fall short. The front wheel, it's unsealed. At the original asking price, there are other bike companies out there in this price range offering better specs. So I would have liked to see a sealed hub here. Now, the rims on these bikes are pinned instead of welded. While not a huge deal when you take in to account who this bike is marketed to, it's still something to make note of. The sprocket suffers from the "mass produced quickly" so it was rather bent causing some tight spots. Usually this is something you can't avoid on complete bikes like this. Stock chain is dainty, so I upgraded to a shadow v2 half link. There was grease on the clamp area of the stem where the bars go. I've never in my life greased that area, and I definitely recommend anyone gets one to check it before slapping the bars on. All in all, I purchased this for my wife to pedal around with me at skateparks so I wasn't expecting to be wowed. However I wasn't let down by the quality. Mongoose may be known as a department store brand, but they do have quite the bmx heritage. I think if you can score this bike on a deep discount, or sale and swap out the wheels, chain, perhaps stem and cranks at some point. You'll have a solid bike. Straight out of the bike, it's great for beginnera and intermediate or that old guy getting back in to it after years off the bike. Also, one thing to note, some of reviews are of people who bought a bmx bike and don't really understand what they bought. So for those reviews noting the chain guard or a kick stand. This isn't meant for a kickstand. And the chain guard is there because it has to be, you really aren't expected to keep it on the bike. ... show more

I bought this L100 last fall/winter with a "used, like new condition" and couldn't be happier with it. I ride it to and from work every single day. I have put it through some rough riding, jumping everything i can everywhere I go. This is my first all chromally steel bike, and I can't imagine ever getting anything but that now. I can forsee it lasting a very long time with proper maintenance and care. Just wish it had a front brake and a slightly smaller back tire, as these tires do make it harder to accelerate do to the amount of grip and friction they have. 2.4" wide tires are much much different than anything else I've ever had. I think 2.3" would be perfect on the back. Have some good lithium grease ready for the bearings on the front fork when you install. This bike has been my best friend for the past 8 months or so, and besides just regular maintenance and tightening the crank and chain once a month, and a couple flat tires repaired, it had been very reliable and indestructible as far as what I personally put it through. If you've never had an all chromally (frame, forks, handlebars, crank arms) you are in for a real treat. I would hands down buy this bike again. Even it’s advertised as bmx bike which is expected to practice and do the trick. I bought L80 in April to try out, it lasted 6month. Bike just cheaply made…the parts went out first axle started bend, hub nut chewed up drop outs etc.. There’s warranty but it will be voided if you put accessories like pegs or remove stickers off the bike. They’ll ask you for everything. You must pay full amount to be covered. It’s good for what you pay for whole bike, but the quality..not so sure. A poser bike ... show more

Great bike!! I was so concerned with all of the less than great reviews (regarding used parts, missing parts, damaged areas, etc...)... The bike shipped to me was wrapped very well for long term storage, and shipping as well... Easy to put together (if you know even a little about how to do so), and has detailed instruction manual as well - for great reference and usage information... This bike (Legion L500 Teal/purple-blue) is a great bike with a very appealing color scheme as well... Bought this for my daughter's 10th birthday, and I don't think she will need another BMX style bike for a few years to come!! Great purchase and seller did great getting it to me in the best shape possible, in the least amount of time possible!! 👍 ... show more

I absolutely love this bike. It's very light compared to others that I used to ride. Being 32 now I feel as if the 15 year old self has come out to play (warriors). It is ultra smooth ride at the given proce you can't beat it. I'm 5'8 and the l80 for 250 is a screaming deal and it's perfect at my height. I know this bike isn't meant to be fully seated rides but you definitely will need a better seat if your looking for longer rides. I mostly stand though but honestly I take this baby out for a good 10miles daily and am very pleased with the quality of the bike! ... show more
