Moen 42 inch stainless steal grab bar:Installed in bathroom for me and primarily my disabled wife. Installation was not easy. I must have measure for the grab bar and searched for where the studs were in the wall about a dozen times before I was sure where to drill and screw in the fittings. The fittings that hold the bar to the wall were screwed in tight with 3 in screws. The sheetrock wall was compressed in when the fittings were screwed tight. The end covers then are supposed to slide down and snap onto the fittings so they look flush to the wall. Since the sheet rock was slightly compressed and recessed, the fitting could not snap on. I had to unscrew the fittings and cut a circular piece of plastic (from Cool Whip lid) and seat it under the fitting so that when I screwed the fitting back on it was even with the surface of the sheet rock. Then I was able to slide the end caps down and snap them on. Sounds simple. It was not. The stainless steel grab bar looks really nice and it has indentations on the back side, finger grips, which I have come to really like. Don't plan on ever doing this again but if I do I would first consider buying this grab bar again. ... show more

I searched and searched to find another grab bar that matched the other one installed by the contractors, and this one is it. And it functions so well. This is a stout grab bar.

Bath remodel in progress. New shower going in and we felt it a good idea to put a grab bar in since we are not getting younger. I chose this because the style is different and looks less clunky than the average grab bar. Very happy with it.

My only issue is with the included screws for a typical installation into wood. 2" screws into 40 year quite hard old yellow pine can be a challenge unless you have a drill bit that has the needed length. 1½" screws would have been more appropriate. The good news is that the screws did not break during installation. The bad news is that the screw head is soft and strips fairly easy. Once mounted, the handle is solid and looks good. ... show more

Beautiful finish, mounts solidly. It goes beautifully with my similarly designed Moen brushed nickel plumbing fixtures. I originally installed them for an ill friend recuperating at my house. After he recovered, I found that they were extremely helpful for me as well. Just holding on to one in the shower is great!. Moen recommends three screws stud for mounting. However, this is very difficult to do for certain lengths, e.g.12". Moen has their own hollow wall mount which is a good design, but I didn't want to spend that much. Instead, I used "WingIts MAWSD35B24" anchors [also sold by Amazon] to attach to drywall in the toilet area and a Corian-like shower surround [used the Wingits drill bit as suggested - drills perfectly and the exact size hole needed.] I initially used three in the same pattern that Moen suggested for stud mounting. Part way in, I started using only two on opposite sides of the circular base. Less area of dry wall taken out [which in itself weakens the wall,] faster, and just as secure. I noted that Wingits also has a circular mount similar in concept and price to Moen's hollow wall mount, but it's only for the Wingits line of grab bars per my understanding. They also have a pre mounted two anchor bolt system with a circular disk that seems like it would work with the Moen grab bars. It looks like the bolts are essentially identical to the individual ones that I bought. However, it's pricier than buying the single anchors and I don't see any advantage over the approach that I used. BTW, I've installed 12", 16", and 32" Moen grab bars using this approach.
