For the money, these are great. My ONLY complaint is that the escutcheon that hides the screwed on flange could fit a little more firmly. I have several of these grab bars and some are nice and tight after being snapped on, and some are not. But they are strong, easily cleaned, and very well priced comparatively. Screw holes are easy to use. Sure, most stainless screws are not that great. These are no exception, but with a bit of care, they go in fine. If you are putting a screw into an old stud, you should pre-drill the hole a little. I found I barely needed to penetrate the stud, then put a bit of bar soap on the screw to lubricate it, (don't use oil as that will remain and the screw could loosen) and then the screws go in nicely. I put a bit of caulk in the hole also, after the screw was partially in. Just fine. Sure the screw would be perfect if it were star drive, but.... Fine ... show more

  • Excellent grab bars, excellent price
I had knee replacement surgery in March 2015 and will have the other knee replaced in August 2015. These grab bars are great. My home health occupational therapist marked where they needed to go inside my tub/shower. My handyman used a stud finder and I ordered one that's 16 inches and one that's 18 inches. My handyman then came back and installed them. The Moen bars are at least half the price of others that seem exactly the same. They are sturdy and handsome. I plan to get another one for outside my tub when I have my next surgery. It just makes getting in and out that much easier both with and without the shower chair. I recommend these grab bars ... show more

  • Can't Go Wrong With This Grab Bar (at any length)!
Moen is certainly a premium brand. I have installed more than a dozen of their grab bars in my current and past residences combined. The key to a secure installation is to either secure it into a wall stud directly using the screw hardware provided, or to complete the installation with WingIts grab bar mounting kits when you have to mount one or both ends of the grab bar into a hollow sheet rock wall. What a life saver this two-fold combination as been for fall prevention of my loved one. Please be sure you get the most appropriate diameter grab bar for your needs, as they come in several dimensions. My own choice has been the 8700 series, as the 8900 series was too large for my wife to grasp most effectively. I had to remove one star for the lower quality screws that they supply, as the screw's cross-point heads get deformed when going into a 2x4 stud, even with a pre-drilled hole. And they get deformed even worse if you have to remove them for any reason (e.g., relocation or to start over again). You should go to your hardware store for premium quality stainless steel screws of similar size if you need to mount in a stud. ... show more

  • Nice looking bar
Didn't even bother with the included screws / bolts, based on other reviews. They would have been way too short for my situation, anyway. Opened the wall in the adjacent room on the other side to install a board to catch the long screws. It is so sturdy, I could do pullups.

  • I have purchased 4 of these, in various sizes
I have purchased 4 of these, in various sizes, which is testimony to the fact that they have full served my purpose. Understand that this product should be installed into studs in order to operate as advertised. Many people may not know how to install them properly, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist. You'll need a "stud finder", which can range to a simple, magnet device from your hardware store for less than a couple of bucks, to an electronic version, which can cost $20 to $40. In my bathroom, in order to penetrate the porcelain tile, proper installation required the latter, and a diamond drill bit. If you're not up to the trouble, or tools required to properly install this, just order the grab bar and hire a professional. By the way, if you don't install this item using a specialized anchor or attachment to a stud, don't waste your money, because it won't serve its intended purpose. ... show more
