I am writing this from this chair right now. It is true that there are only 8 bolts involved in assembling this chair, but due to the heavy weight of the chair's parts, I would rate it as a moderately involved task to assemble. Ideally have another person help you. It's not that it's hard--it just requires lining up heavy (duty) parts and threading bolts into the holes that match up, which is simply easier handled by two people. If you're like me and bought this chair because you have a bad back, you don't want to further strain it by tackling this project alone. Aside from that (which is not meant as a negative as much as an FIY), the chair is very well constructed, good looking, and very comfortable. It adjusts in two ways (up and down with one lever, and forward / backward tilt "lock" with another). The materials used are high quality. The ergonomics of the chair are great, and the mesh back conforms to your back and provides adequate lumbar support (due to its curved shape). The casters are smooth rolling (even on low-pile carpet like I have in my home office), and the adjustable arms are a great feature that I never knew I'd use so often (out of the way for typing most of the time, down when on calls and reading for extra support). The only ding I'd give the chair is that the seat cushioning could be a little thicker to make the chair more comfortable--but that's nit picking really. The seat cushion is made of comfortable material, and does provide decent cushioning, but given the state of my back, I will likely be adding a small pillow in the mix most days. I shopped around for a good "Herman Miller"-like chair for a while before deciding to take a shot on this one on Amazon, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. This chair feels as solid and comfortable as any of the chairs I came across in my search, but is priced about 1/4 - 1/8 of what many of those other chairs cost. Amazing deal on a great office chair!

The chair is exactly as described by the manufacturer. I was looking for an ergonomic chair for computer use. I have some muscle knot issues from playing starcraft very often (top masters at the moment). I purchased this chair because: 1) It was $149.99 for the leatherette version (same price as the mesh covering version) 2) Arms flip up, which is useful because I sit very close to the desk. Construction was very easy and is definitely something anyone should be capable of performing without assistance. Based on the appearance alone, this chair is astounding for the $149.99 price. It doesn't look cheap at all and you're definitely getting more than what you've paid for (assuming you're paying 149.99). Other brands with similar designs may save you ~20-30 dollars, but those look like garbage in comparison. After a week of use, here are some things I should mention to potential buyers: 1) The plump cushioning feels like it's starting to sink and I'm only 125 pounds. 2) Leatherette does not breathe, so your butt may stay sweaty. 3) If you're looking for an ergonomic chair, this is mediocre at best. Although the lumbar support is excellent, this chair lacks the ability to adjust the height of the armrests as well as the depth of the seat (luckily, the depth of this seat is comfortable enough for me). However, if you've read this item description, you should already know that the arm rests and seat depth cannot be adjusted. At its highest setting, the arm rests sits at around 30 inches from the floor and at its lowest height, the armrest sits at ~25.5 inches. Takes these measurements into consideration if you're planning to use a keyboard tray. Altogether, the quality of this chair is stunning for only $149.99. If you're looking for a truly ergonomic chair, spend some extra money for adjustable arm rests and seat depth (probably in the $300 range). Otherwise, this chair was definitely worth the money and I would recommend it to anyone who does not use arm rests and can risk the seat depth.

I've been using this chair for almost 3 months and I love it. The seat is cushy and comfortable. The mesh back is great and perfect for lumbar support. I lock the back to a fixed position so it doesn't go all the way to the back to stop my from slouching. What I really love are the 2 armrests. They can be lifted up, and in fact I've been using the chair mostly without the armrests so that I can freely move around when I work. I'm working for a well-funded startup in the bay area and at the office we've got pretty good (and much more expensive) chairs in the office. But compared to this chair, I'd say it's probable more comfortable and more ergonomic as well. The construction is very sturdy, and took me about 15 minutes to put assemble the chair. It's a great buy and I'd consider buying another one if my current chair doesn't work any more. Highly recommended!

My son loves this chair for when he's on his computer. However, the leatherette material cracked badly after about 16 months of use only on weekends and sometimes in the evenings. The price seems reasonable, but this is disposable furniture as it will not wear well. My son does find it very comfortable and it has nice features, such as how the arms flip up, and it is quite adjustable. But this chair is NOT built to last. I do not recommend this chair if you're looking for quality or anything that will stay looking decent for more than a year or so. But in the short run, it has a modern look and is a surprisingly comfortable chair. 9/2015 Update: This chair is a bargain while it lasts, but the leatherette material doesn't last long. After his first one fell apart, my son insisted he wanted the same chair again. So I bought a second one in October 2013 and, just like the first chair, the second one looks awful after about 15-16 months and needs to be replaced. Why, oh why, is my son asking for the same darn chair again? Obviously, history will repeat. IF I give in to my son's request, it will be chair number 3. This is getting annoying and expensive. Eventually, I will have spent enough for a Herman Miller chair. 12/2015 Update: I'm too embarrassed by my son's chair as it looks disgusting. The padding in the seat and arms is flat, it's ripping and the "leatherette" is so cracked and gross from casual use. My kid is skinny and tall, so he's not putting extra stress on this chair. But my son still loves this chair and wants another one. So I've now ordered a 3rd one as a holiday gift as I can't look at his chair anymore! Take a look at the pictures I've posted and you'll see what I mean! I've left the rating at 3 stars because I keep buying it because my son loves it, but this is essentially a disposable chair that's not made to last more than a year or so. 8/9/2016: We assembled the third chair end of December 2015. In June 2016, my very thin son leaned back, and the back literally cracked in half. It exposed the material that's normally covered and it looks like some kind of junky melamine. I called Lex Mod customer service, and the people I spoke to were rude and unwilling to help or take any responsibility at all.

Before I got this chair I was sitting in a regular wooden chair at my CPU. Boy does this thing make a big difference. You can lean back in this thing, adjust the height on the fly. If you pull the lever the seat pops up really quick and if your sitting on it and you pull it, the chair doesn't go down too fast so that you can adjust it properly. It also has another adjustment on it although I haven't tried it yet. I think it's to adjust the how hard the seat is, like in your car. I also really like the looks of this chair with the mesh back, silver frame, and the black leatherette seat and arms. Although I wish I would have realized they had a clothe version as I would have got that along with the color blue. It's also a smaller chair, it's not like some of those huge office chairs. It's very well built and sturdy. It rolls around seamlessly with not much noise and it's very comfortable. Now when I go to my work office I feel like I'm missing something because this LexMod chair feels more comfortable. And my office chair can't lean back either nor does it adjust as well or roll as well, and it sure doesn't look as good. And I'm always adjusting the height of my chair too. I highly recommend this chair it's one of the best purchases I've ever made.

The chair itself is fine, but after using it for a few months the piston had developed a problem. The chair starts to sink down sometimes when I sit down. It doesn't happen always, but it does happen probably 50% of the time. It slowly sinks all the way down. I just use the mechanism to raise it back up again, and most of the time that will fix the issue for a few hours. While this is annoying it doesn't render the chair unusable for now, so I haven't given it one star. I'm going to try and get a replacement, so we'll see how that goes. I thought I had such a great deal, but I guess I'm starting to understand why good office chairs are $1k, not $120. UPDATE: I ended up having to replace this chair after 6 months of use. I guess I am partly to blame for thinking that a chair this inexpensive would be ok for me to sit in 4 to 6 hours a day. I have a standing desk as well so I alternate between sitting and standing throughout the day. The piston has completely failed now and all of the padding in the seat has crushed. I'm not a small person (220 pounds) but that's not so huge that I routinely crush chairs to death. I replaced it with a Herman Miller Embody chair which I initially dismissed due to the high price, but now that I've discovered the value of a warranty for this type of chair, the 12 year warranty that comes with the Embody seems like a pretty good deal. I don't think this is a terrible product, and if you only sit in the chair for an hour or two, once or twice a week it will probably be fine. I have adjusted down the rating to one star because I am having to replace the chair after less than a year. Also, the name brand chairs have pretty high list prices, but I discovered that buying a high end office chair is more like buying a car, where the price is completely negotiable so you can often get a pretty good deal.

After doing a lot of research I bought this chair. I was confused between Mesh fabric seat vs Leatherette seat and finally settled for Leatherette seat.(both are same price) I bought this for my Home use , for sitting long hours in front my PC. It came very well packaged and I am happy to receive it without any damage. I had previously had a bad experience while I bought some table desk online. I assembled it myself under 2 hours.It comes with its own screw system which is bad.but in the brighter side you don't need any extra tool kit to assemble the chair. Every thing is supplied. It comes with basic 1 page instruction page but I don't think you need more than that. I am around 5ft 11 inches and 190 lbs and I am already using this for last 10 days and really happy about my purchase. Amazing Lumber support. It really works. Whether I am sitting straight or leaning back the lumber support is always their. Chair is made of good quality material, rugged and stable. It comes with Height adjustment and have adjusted mine to suit my needs. Hand rest has cushion and is very nice to use. It has Flip-up arms which is good feature but I don't really use it. back seat tilt works as expected I kept it as free flowing. All in all very nice chair I will recommend it to anybody looking for chair under $150

I have been using this chair for about 2 months now for my home office. For the first 6 wks I was thrilled with the chair, as it was very comfortable, promoted good posture, and seemed sturdy. Now, however, the chair started to squeak pretty bad/loudly whenever I shift around in the chair. I disassembled the parts I could, to check if something was loose but that did not resolve the issue. My guess is its the internal mechanism that started squeaking. Its loud to a point where its audible when I'm on the phone. Very annoying!! I am disappointed with this chair.
